Now is the time to set out his vision for the UK, to inspire the UK towards harmony and productivity with a huge majority, which he will never have again. Instead there is a speech , presumably delayed by the riots, which continues to heap blame on the Tories. It was dour, depressing and offered no motivation to the public. There may be huge holes in the public finances and tough tax rises may be necessary, but he also needs to set out a grander plan for economic and societal prosperity. Why can he not do more ?

I agree, but two tier doesn’t have any of those characteristics.

Please explain why you think the term 'two tier' is accurate and relevant, and before you do so, look up all the threads there have been on this topic - they contain a great deal of useful information that will prevent you from making mendacious and inaccurate statements.

Bogginsthe3rd · 29/08/2024 19:30

Who by? Big Starmer?

There have been more than one per day anti starmer, anti Labour thread.

They've been in government 8 weeks.

What significant thing have you achieved in 8 weeks? I'd be really interested to know.

Bogginsthe3rd · 29/08/2024 19:42

Daltonbear1 · 29/08/2024 19:40

Nope mine is sleeping but they are looking out to the far right maybe the op should realise that we fought the nazis and the traitors are the nazis not starmer

What part of your post relates to my post ?

You base that on what? And by what yardstick?

Fiddlemetimbers · 29/08/2024 19:43

What I am finding utterly predictable about these threads is the people who are soon showing up and throwing the descriptor of "far right" about EVERYONE who is not 💯 towing their own left leaning the Labour party line.

Conservative voters, are not FAR right. There's barely a gap between the two major parties in which to slip a cigarette paper. They near enough all went to school together and come from the same stock. Modern politics is largely obfuscation, bullshit and petty tribal snideness. Maybe it's nothing new but the method of dissemination is making it all so much more obvious and ugly.

You r right but calling stramer a traitor is a vibe from the far right so shut up you know not what you r speaking about

There have been daily posts about mother in laws, I don't assume it's a plot by pro Bernard Manning supporters.

Daltonbear1 · 29/08/2024 19:45

Oh and calling starmer two tier isn't really sensible conservative speech either as they should want justice from the rioters and not slag off police who do difficult work

BitOutOfPractice · 29/08/2024 19:47

@Fiddlemetimbers fear not. Balance is always restored on these threads. I haven’t seen the term “loony left” spouted so much since the 80s as on mn the last 2 months.

You didn't answer my question.

What significant thing have you achieved in a time frame of 8 weeks? Start to finish.

Your question is irrelevant as I am not the PM, but I have made personal and professional progress towards my goals. Now you can answer my question as to why you think there is an anti Starmer conspiracy, when actually valid questions should be raised about the tone and substance of his leadership so far?

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 29/08/2024 19:54

@Perplexed20 does putting 4lbs on count? 😬

you’re right. This impatience is ridiculous. Though Liz Truss managed to “achieve” a lot in less time.

Perplexed20 · 29/08/2024 19:58

@Bogginsthe3rd I didn't say there was a conspiracy.

I just think it's boring and ridiculous.

I wonder if you've just given the game away.

I love your vagueness about progress towards your 'personal and professional goals'. What are these then?

ElsieMc · 29/08/2024 20:00

What is all this fake stern face stuff from Keir Starmer, like a headteacher after a school riot. Now step forward Rachel Reeves. When I see her face on tv, I absolutely dread what this mono-toned bringer of misery is going to do next. Same for the Education person (Bridget someone) who became very cross on GMB when asked a perfectly reasonable question she disagreed with and reverted to same stern expression.

I knew matters were difficult, but I did expect to see a bit of the early days of the Blair Government when there was a feeling of optimism following many years of Tory government.

I honestly think they had this all figured out prior to the election win. I mean which blackhole is it - the one they already knew about or a second one. When asked this quite pointedly by Mishal Hussein, RR became very flustered indeed.

Yes, I know it is down to the conservatives. But the winter fuel decision is Reeves not the conservatives. At least stand up and be counted.

That appeared to be your argument. If it wasn't, I assume you must just be anti political debate. You do you I guess.

The really amusing thing about the “Why hasn’t he saved the world and delivered a gold ingot to my doorstep yet?” posts is that they’re from the same posters who accused Labour voters of expecting the world to be transformed the morning after a change of government. Now they’re the impatient ones.

No explanation of endorsing this two tier stuff then.

Perplexed20 · 29/08/2024 20:04

@Bogginsthe3rd ah the 'you do you' argument.

I'm not anti political debate. Why don't you post it in politics section?

I just pointed out that your expectations in 8 weeks were ridiculous, like all the other multiple threads on this.

CrispsnDips · 29/08/2024 20:05

If there is such a big black hole why have we just given £12 BILLION away in Foreign Aid? 🤨

He's treating us like adults, no sugar coating the truth, no pretending it is all going to be sunshine and roses. Personally I prefer the truth and I don't want idiots like Johnson with his "funny" hair.

For me I want the honesty and realism he is undoubtedly giving, but to have this coupled with a purposeful vision for economic and societal growth. This would be better leadership imo.

I know, the black holes are getting confusing to everyone I think. Are there two?
