AIBU in thinking good luck to Madge for her penchant for men 30+ years younger? She is currently dating a man aged 28 and she’s 66. People are outraged by it - but she’s having fun and I think good luck to her! She loves to be controversial and she has the money and the power to do what she likes!

Why is it ok for men to date much younger women but when this is reversed everyone is shocked and outraged and “concerned” for her safety??!! She’s fine! She’s loving life. It’s so silly and pretentious anyway, all this faux worry for her well-being.

She cares massively what people think. Her entire life has been about deliberate crafting of an image. Also, people who don’t care what people think, don’t get a shit ton of plastic surgery. People who care very much how others see them do.

She’s highly successful, highly in denial about ageing. I presume she’s using young men as a prop to that and that these ‘relationships’ are highly transactional on both sides and superficial. But she stays top of her game in a highly competitive industry so all credit to her for her career success.

I regard rich old men with young pretty girlfriends as rather foolish if they think those women actually fancy them, and I guess the same is true here.

Re Dolly Parton. The point about her and the cosmetic surgery is that she makes fun of herself. I think the quote was ' it costs money to look this trashy'. She laughs at herself and doesn't care if people join in. She knows it doesn't actually make her young.

No, thats not what "most" of us want. It sounds lovely if you like it and I'm sure lots of people would enjoy that (I have a dog myself) but I dont want to live in a cottage. I enjoy living in a vibrant bustling town with lots of social events and interesting activities to do. I enjoy getting dressed up to go out and being glam.

YANBU to enjoy that yourself but YABU to suggest that your lifestyle is what everyone else wants or should want.

I dont understand why people seem to want everyone to be the same as them. Life would be so fcking boring if we were all stepford versions of the same person with the exact same interests and living spaces.

I doubt Leonardo Di Caprios girlfriends are 'giggling' about anything. I keep hearing about how he likes to get his kicks and it's dark and nasty.

I mean, Madonna is a gigantic narcissist and most people who've worked with her say she's a nightmare. So of course it will suit her to have a young partner who is easy to manipulate.

To be jealous of someone they have to have something that you’d like to have but can’t get and at 66 I can assure you I have no desire whatsoever to have a 28 year old lover in my life. Im not jealous of Maddona.

In fact when I saw the pictures of her being led round Italy a few days ago looking like someone years older than she is from the neck down, then from the neck up looking like something out of a horror movie I knew she’d love to be able to get round Italy the way I do at 66.

Of course it would be lovely to not have to worry about money but I value being able to go off on my travels and get around under my own steam over the millions any day. I was shocked when I saw these pictures.

I think it’s disgusting and predatory. Women who do this must be sick in the head. My DH’s first “girlfriend” was 18 years older than him (he was 18) and when he talks about that relationship all I can think is poor you, you were ABUSED! Makes me rage!

I think age gaps are grim both ways. But at the same time if the older male younger female way isn't going to stop happening anytime soon, then there should be some balance. I'd rather see both sexes doing it than just one.

Yes she does. I was shocked when I saw the pictures. We’re the same age and the only time I’ve needed helped a bit is when I had a knee replacement last year and I was leaving hospital.

Theres absolutely no pleasure at all in seeing anyone looking as unwell as she does in that pictures well as the others and it’s very true - if you don’t have good health you have nothing.
