AIBU in thinking good luck to Madge for her penchant for men 30+ years younger? She is currently dating a man aged 28 and she’s 66. People are outraged by it - but she’s having fun and I think good luck to her! She loves to be controversial and she has the money and the power to do what she likes!

Why is it ok for men to date much younger women but when this is reversed everyone is shocked and outraged and “concerned” for her safety??!! She’s fine! She’s loving life. It’s so silly and pretentious anyway, all this faux worry for her well-being.

My idea of growing old disgracefully is no longer caring what people think. Madonna clearly cares deeply about what people think. Rather than seeming happy and devil-may-care, she seems desperate for attention and deeply distressed that the sex appeal she relied on is a depreciating currency. I couldn't get any pleasure out of seeing someone who wouldn't look twice at me if I wasn't rich, and that is something I also say about rich old men and beautiful young women too.

She hasn't stuffed him in a sack and slung him over her shoulder though.

He wants his 15 minutes of fame and everything her money and power will bring him, and she wants a bit of fun and a younger bloke on her arm.

Given he's nearly 30, he's old enough to know the score.

Although regards Leo/Madonna etc they are very transactional relationships. Of course Leo and Madonna know they are with younger partners who only want the lifestyle they can provide but equally the older partner is getting the sex they want. Everyone are adults and it's consensual but it's still very seedy.

I think Madonna is a mentally unwell woman, terribly advised by those around her - who take advantage of her. Nothing empowering, I'm afraid, but sad.

In this particular context I would suggest everything is happening for a reason. Those involved know exactly what those reasons are.

Madonna is a control freak and every single aspect of her musical genre manifestations and associated appearance, other career choice, causes she supports or matters she condemns, her friendships, her sex life, choice of partners - including those elements she would have Joe Public believe are the product of not caring and giving a shit - are anything but. Even pretending to not care and pursuing shock value are as choreographed as her concerts.

I don't particularly care about age differences, but Madonna seems quite desperate and afraid of ageing, not accepting of it. Her photos make her look like a sex doll, totally artificially.

I'm not worried about his capacity to consent freely aged nearly 30 and with his own career. He may like her, he may like her money, but I don't think there's any crazy power imbalance here, he's good-looking, fit uni graduate and has a career so is bringing something to the table, as is she. The fact that Madge down the chippy wouldn't get a 30 year old is irrelevant, very few people would date someone who wasn't bringing similar value to the relationship, whether it be looks, money, intelligence, companionship or whatever. It has to be perceived as a fair match or exchange by both parties.

I do think trying to cover up your age by wearing gloves all the time is a bit silly though.

When I see real (non filtered pictures) of Madonna she looks a bit like Miss Havisham on acid. I'd be embarrassed to be in her company, but as an onlooker - all power to her.

I think it's gross when much older male celebs date people so young. Women aren't excluded from that, you just don't see it often.
