To be so fucking angry. How many more women and children must die?

I'd almost become numb to it, with all the news so far this year.

Murder after murder of women and their children. Noone ever seeming to link the common denominator. NAMALT.

This latest one today, I feel like something is beginning to snap inside me. Three babies and a young woman dead, because of a fucking man. Again. And again.

What did you say to get deleted?

You seriously believe that?

Yes. And I've seen it many times. Men often react differently to women as they do men.

Suzuki70 · 21/08/2024 19:29

Let's just say I think working on the perpetrator in hospital who is "seriously ill" is a waste of NHS resources.

Says a lot that someone reported my post! My god.

The NAMALT will be starting soon.

You seriously believe that?

Why don't you? How many more women and children have to die before you'll believe there is a problem?

Montydone · 21/08/2024 19:31

it is tragic and terrifying. There are of course many more layers to this, but I think how boys are socialised growing up can contribute; shamed for feelings like anxiety and sadness, so these feelings become denied and repressed, so that when something taps into the toxic shame it leads to projection and annihilation. I’ve noticed boys being treated differently when they cry to girls at my DC’s nursery

Ok. So why don't you believe it? What do you believe is the problem?

seasaltandsand · 21/08/2024 19:36

We really don't have the protection that we deserve or even a legal system that manages these men.

From a personal perspective I was attacked violently, the police attended, the man fled the scene throwing his weapon away as he ran but got picked up by the police.

This man received a suspended sentence and restraining order. Suspended from work but now back working as an NHS doctor. A mockery of the legal system and regulatory body, and also deeply concerning when somebody capable of violent crime is charged with caring for the sick and vulnerable.

Misorchid · 21/08/2024 19:37

It’s not that long ago that dv was excused as a ‘crime of passion’. Carmen is stabbed to death in the opera, but that’s romantic isn’t it?🙄

Hateam · 21/08/2024 19:42

Notonthesamepage · 21/08/2024 19:34

Ok. So why don't you believe it? What do you believe is the problem?

Some men are violent to a level that is horrifying and disturbing.

I think stricter laws on lower level disturbing behaviour of the type that can be a precursor to family annilation should be passed urgently.

I think women should be believed more when the early indicators are reported. A database holding details of all of these reports (subject to a certain level.of proof) should be established and women should be able to run potential boyfriend's names through this database.

Women should go nowhere near any man who mentions the phrase 'my pyscho ex'.

TriesNotToBeCynical · 21/08/2024 19:43

Hateam · 21/08/2024 19:26

You seriously believe that?

Are you seriously suggesting it is not true? Partly men aren't abusive to other men out of cowardice, but mainly they just don't like being corrected by a women. I am a man FWIW.

Biggaybear · 21/08/2024 19:43

Hateam · 21/08/2024 17:03

What measures would work to protect women and children?

Proper prison sentences.

Not letting them out after they have served just 40% of their sentence.

Like serial killers, most people committing a crime at age 40 aren't doing it for the first time. Look at the recent rioters. The vast majority have previous convictions.

Yes, it will take some time, but start building more prisons & then start locking people up earlier & for longer.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 21/08/2024 19:44

I read this and my blood ran cold. My husband agreed it’s sickening.

SweetBirdsong · 21/08/2024 19:46

YANBU OP. It's extremely upsetting, and is the epitome of male entitlement. 'You don't want me, so I will make sure that no-one else can have you.'

Basically you just know this woman (and her precious kiddies) have been killed by this man because she rejected him. Sickening and devastating. 😢

I agree with all of those.

In.the case of family anniliation I think they are very often a first offence. I think it's wrong to say it but that's the reason lots of reports talk about the man being a 'good family man's.

Evibella · 21/08/2024 19:48

Agreed. My 9 year old and 8 year old daughters heard this on the news.. I had to explain that men like this exist, not everyone is kind like their daddy and we will discuss when the time is right how to avoid people like this. BUT WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO WARN MY CHILDREN. It shouldn't be this common. I have 4 girls and it hurts me that maybe one of them will come across a man like this. I shouldn't even have to consider it.

Brefugee · 21/08/2024 19:49

CharliesAngels81 · 21/08/2024 18:51

Let's stop overreacting unfortunately this has always gone on and will always go on because Men are physically stronger.

How many murders happen per week across both genders so I wouldn't call it Misogyny.

sigh. We were doing so well.

BiscuityBoyle · 21/08/2024 19:54

A woman I have met was stabbed to death in the street by a male ex partner about a month ago. She left 3 children.

Suzuki70 · 21/08/2024 20:05

My ex-boss was killed in a very expensive hotel room recently by her partner. It made the news. She was strangled.

FatOaf · 21/08/2024 20:06

And this will disappear from the news in a day or two. Unlike the disappearance of five obscenely wealthy people whose yacht sank, which has already been on the front pages for nearly a week.

PrincessOlga · 21/08/2024 20:07

Singleaftermarriage · 21/08/2024 16:06

I was speaking to my friends about this and saying how the "protests" (riots) should have been every woman and girl in this country demanding that they can be safe from male violence. It should have been women on the streets forcing people to listen. As a newly ish single woman with 3 daughters I worry that all it takes is a break up for your life to be in danger. It makes me so angry

I completely agree!

LizzieSiddal · 21/08/2024 20:08

The media need to stop calling these events “a domestic incident”. No it fucking isn’t. It’s a fucking murder and male violence.

Hateam · 21/08/2024 20:09

FatOaf · 21/08/2024 20:06

I don't think it's right to compare the two stories.

JSMill · 21/08/2024 20:10

I don't understand why the sinking of a super yacht two days ago was the first item on the news instead of this tragedy? Also why is nobody out causing riots. Three children died at hands of man. Why doesn't that make people see red?
