JKR being uncharacteristically quiet

Jdugsgsgwyd · 17/08/2024 14:42

Anyone else noticed since the news that JKR is being sued by Imane Khelif she's been very quiet, unless I'm mistaken she's hasn't tweeted at all in about a week.

and hasn't responded at all to the legal action being taken against her. This is very unlike her, I'm thinking she's been advised by her lawyers to keep quiet. Anyone else think she might have put her foot in it this time?

Oh Tandora. Sigh.

What's your counter-argument apart from a sigh?

ThreeWordHarpy · 17/08/2024 16:37

Gosh the bat signal really went up for all the usual suspects for this thread didn’t it?

Ah the 'she asked for it' school of thought around abuse of women. That is just as bad if not worse than what IK received.

I wonder what's different about JKR and IK that online hate against JKR is FINE and 'she asked for it' by being outspoken and speaking her mind but online hate against IK for competing in a category IK was banned from is WRONG. What could possibly be the difference such that the double standards are so stark?

Remembering that JKR did nothing more than wrote some words whereas IK showed clear advantage, reach, hip to shoulder ratio, and increased punch power in a boxing match after previously having been banned from the category for safety reasons (and not challenging that) and broke a woman's nose causing her to stop the fight for fear of her life. No sympathy for the woman with the actual physical harm I note.

What is IKs special inner essence that unlike all other "women" hurty words are bad? But actual physical harm of female women merits not a passing concern?

I think I can guess...

There’s no counter argument. No one can change sex. People with DSD’s are still one or the other. (Do I lower myself to chuck in a HTH? Yes I will).

HTH.

ABirdsEyeView · 17/08/2024 16:39

IK may well be one of the rare people who really was assigned the wrong sex at birth. Not their fault but it still doesn't make it right for them to be competing against women who have not benefited from a male puberty, which iirc, IK has.
People have to accept that sometimes, they can't have and do everything they want because doing so, isn't fair or safe for other people.

DadJoke · 17/08/2024 16:39

@RedToothBrush I said “their whole personality.” And thank you for being the living embodiment of that.

A delightful GC trick is to confuse dislike of transphobia (mainly from far right, incels and GC people) with dislike of women (women who are much more likely to support transgender rights)

The vast majority of feminist organisations are transinclusive - you only have to see the high dungeon from the GCs on IWD when everyone is is celebrated if there is even a whiff of trans inclusivity.

No, it's very simple: the boxer was not born with female genitalia and he appears to have male genitalia now. He can be seen fishing down his boxing shorts to adjust his tackle in a couple of videos. Previous DNA tests have shown he has XY chromosomes (male) and he's refused to have another test to decide the issue. You can go on denying science as much as you like, but anyone can see he's male.

How do you know, have you seen their genitals?

Boxers "fish down their shorts" to adjust their Thai cups when they've been shifted, for reasons which should be obvious.

Previous DNA tests have shown he has XY chromosomes (male)

Incorrect.

"anyone can see he's male"

Here's a picture of Gabbi Garcia, most decorated female grappler of all time at her weight. 6'2, 209lbs.

She's going to compete against a man half her size today and get absolutely rinsed.

This is not black and white.

The boxer, has female genitalia, was raised as a female and lives as one.

Apparently she was born with testis inside her and that increased her testosterone.

So this is not as simple as a man being allowed to box as a female.

I think it was dreadful the way JKR spoke out when all things considered this boxer was not a man! Which is why she was probably allowed to box in the first place

What a muddle you've got in. Apparently is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

And to be honest, the same motley crew of ‘you’re all big transphobes’ but never actually provide any examples other than saying men can’t become women, don’t deserve anything more than a sigh.

ThreeWordHarpy · 17/08/2024 16:37

Gosh the bat signal really went up for all the usual suspects for this thread didn’t it?

Certainly did.

Women must not speak. And when they aren't speaking they get criticised for not speaking and get comments about how good it is that they've shut up talking.

They can't we. And it's all about silencing women.

I score this thread 10 out of 17.

Scoring criteria detailed as below:

  1. Women saying no to men is a hate crime.
  2. Women speaking for themselves are exclusionary and selfish.
  3. Women’s opinions are violence against men, thus male violence against women is justified.
  4. Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.
10. The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad. 11. Whatever women suffer from, it is worse when it happens to men. 12. Women’s ability to recognize male behavior patterns is misandry. 14. Women have all the rights they need: The right to remain silent. 15. Men are the default human. Women are strange subhuman others. 16. Everyone owns and controls women’s bodies except the women themselves.
StealthSpinach · 17/08/2024 16:43

FreedomDogs · 17/08/2024 16:28

So the women who've beaten her in the ring must also have been men then?

I cannot believe you are serious!
IK began boxing at 17 years old. Has trained since then. Early in career, has had some wins and losses. Developed, trained, improved.
IKs own camp admit to non-female chromosomes and male advantage due to male levels of testosterone.

People have to stop using the word 'bullying' when what they mean is that a person has expressed an opinion, or stated a fact, that they don't like!
It negates how serious actual bullying really is. IMO the true victims of bullying are the women who get death a rape threats!

Amen to that! See also: ludicrous overuse of the word hate.

You do not recall correctly. We don't know the physical details of Khelif's puberty. Once again, for those at the back, even the possibility that she has a DSD is speculation at this point, anyone here on this thread or elsewhere on the internet confidently stating details about Khelif's body, life, or puberty, is pulling that information straight out the same hole they shit from.

People on here are being ridiculous. She has a vagina and to all intents and purposes is a woman. She was born one and raised as one and believes herself to be one.

She is being persecuted for something that is outwith her control

I'm fascinated by this news that you've seen Imane's vagina! Do tell more!

You dont think women are entitled to their beliefs, sports, dignity and safety?
Sounds like hate to me.
Your basically saying you dont think they are equal to men.
I pity you more than anything else, but also pity the women who have to live in the same world as people like you

I think gender critical people, conservative Christians and even the far right are entitled to their views. I just don’t like those views. Stop generalising.

It’s up to sports bodies to decide who competes, but attacking a competitor who has complied with the rules, commenting on their body including their genitals, calling them a cheat and encouraging an online pile on is revolting.

Dumbledoreslemonsherbets · 17/08/2024 16:46

Too many men, including some who like to wear typically female attire, have values far closer to the Taliban than anything else.

It's like bees to a honey pot on mn where women can speak freely and express their own lived reality. The desire to control women is so compelling. They simply cannot stand women having freedom to think what they like.

JKR and other successful, rich women like Taylor Swift are the epitome of female empowerment so come in for the most threats and abuse.

It's depressingly predictable

Tandora · 17/08/2024 16:47

For information on DSDs you can read this post which has links. The whole thread has links to lots of information relevant to sex in sports
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5142027-save-female-sports-evidence-thread?reply=137533849&utm_campaign=reply&utm_medium=share

No one who comes across this thread should think this poster is a neutral or reliable source of scientific information on anything related to trans issues or variations in sex development. This is a poster with militant anti trans ideologies. I have not seen this username on mumsnet other than to advance this agenda. They appear on any thread about trans or related issues. They like to distract from substantive debate by posting endless links to papers (interspersed with media promoted by hate groups)- many of which they appear to have not understood

spannasaurus · 17/08/2024 16:47

The IOC confirmed it was a DSD issue
They gave a press conference and said it wasn't a DSD issue and then had to issue a correction saying they should have said it wasn't a trans issue

All of this and the schools are back already in Edinburgh so she's probably just getting on with life and giving the reality deniers a wide berth for a bit.

I think her school aged kids are at private school and they’re not back yet

Cheating women out of hard won achievements is revolting. Creating a society where women are not even allowed to have their own sex without men is revotling.
Locking up women with rapists is fucking revolting.
Be who you are mate, dont be coy about it. Your a misogynists, many many women and men will celebrate you

RVEllacott · 17/08/2024 16:48

Well we were having a reasonable conversation on this thread and it's been a pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon, but I see the misogynists have arrived to tell us to be kind so I'm off. I've got better things to do with my time.
