to exclude my friend from a holiday because she's got a boy?

regular here blah blah (we need an acronym for this )

I have a small group of 4 friends, we all have 1 child of the same age (5)

One of us has a boy

I am arranging a summer break for us all but the three of us with girls really don't want the other person coming along. The girls play nicely together while we sit around talking. The boy is loud and whacks the girls and is constantly full of energy, and is constantly knocking into us, interupting our conversation.

We'd like a summer BREAK where we sit around while the girls play. If we invite the mum-of-boy it won't be a break, it will be noisy and stressful.

Should we arrange it and exclude her, or just invite her and accept that it will just be a child-focussed holiday?

Sometimes I'm reading some old thread and I'm nodding away at a poster's words of wisdom and then realise, "Hey! That was me!" (with a different name). I seem to have become more stupid over the course of my time on MN (10 years plus... Shock )

BellMcEnd · 03/05/2017 11:06

I want to know if the OP went on to have LOUD, boisterous triplet boys as a PP hoped! Grin

Can we have an update, please?

You're nasty

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2017 11:37

Oh I don't know they may have changed in the last 9 YEARS. Grin

curvyfrog · 03/05/2017 11:53

Oh dear, you are getting slated over this. My child was always the boisterous one. I had to plan ahead carefully and going away with a group who had quiet girls would have been an issue.

My advice to you is to plan ahead. Please don't rule your friend out. Plan activities that will interest her child to enable a peaceful few hours each session.

Back In the day (some 12 years ago now) I would take play dough, glue, stickers, travel games, quiz books, balls, inflatable paddling pools, a DS with games, Ipad, interesting things to bring out each play session. It worked, balanced with an active time each day.

Your other option is to take away an older child to help if that's possible. Do you have nephews and nieces that could gone away with you?

You risk permanent damage to the friendship otherwise. That's just the way of it. Yes it's a whole lot easier not to plan and to exclude, but your friend will be very hurt.

I wasn't even on MN when this thread was started. Coincidentally, it was the day my DFIL died, and. Joined a few weeks later. Seems ages ago...oh wait, it was!

Stop bloody resurrecting dead threads. How do people even find the time to search something, join, then post on the thread.

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2017 11:58

They posted this in 2008. I doubt they are still reading it. Grin

flyingpinkduckgirl · 03/05/2017 12:24

Only just noticed the date!!!
Why has it been dug up? Shock

Allthebestnamesareused · 03/05/2017 12:33

I'd love to know how the then 5 year old kids are doing now and whether the friendship groups have survived on this massively ZOMBIE THREAD!!!

BellMcEnd · 03/05/2017 12:41

Me too, All

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2017 12:43

The boy and one of the precious girls are probably going out with each other now. Shock Grin

Terfing · 03/05/2017 12:47

It could have been bumped by one of them... Wink

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2017 12:47

They need to spill if that's the case...

BellMcEnd · 03/05/2017 12:59

Definitely Grin

DoItTooJulia · 03/05/2017 13:01

If you've name changes and are still on here, and it's been zombie bumped does it come up in TIO??

DoItTooJulia · 03/05/2017 13:01

Name changed even?

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2017 13:02

No I don't think so. My TIO has a time limit-not sure how long I set it at but not sure it extends to infinity.

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2017 13:03

Zombie thread!!!!!!

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2017 13:05

Well spotted Aeroflot. Grin Grin

PenelopeFlintstone · 03/05/2017 13:06

I haven't got time at the moment to read the whole thread, but could the boy bring a playmate?

PenelopeFlintstone · 03/05/2017 13:06

Oh bugger!

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2017 13:07

It's ok Penelope no need to read the thread it's from 2008. The moment has passed.

PunjanaTea · 03/05/2017 14:52

I was nearly 300 posts in before I realised this was from 2008.

I feel like I deserve an update!!
