Disgusting or Not?

My partner has the habit of washing his hands and his arms up to the elbows at the kitchen sink and then drying them with the hand towel in the kitchen. He has very hairy arms.

AIBU to think this is disgusting and the hand towel in the kitchen should only be used for drying hands, not other hairy body parts?

I don’t feel that it is hygienic to handle food after I have washed my hands and dried them on the same hand towel that he has used.

Maybe.......... or you jumped the shark?

Don’t understand the shark references?

Heh?? Are you for real?
His forearms is probs cleaner than his hands. Since hands touch doorknobs and everything.

Tell no lie, you've been nagging him to get his arms shaven?

TinkerTiger · 13/08/2024 10:56

This thought would never even have occurred to me. Do you just hate him? What else do you pick apart that he does?

We aren’t getting on very well and I was thinking that was the final straw until
I posted about it here 🤔

We have a large range of colour-coded towels with a diagram (also colour-coded) to indicate which towel is to be used for which part of the body. Obviously we use flannels for knees and elbows as even a hand towel would be overkill for those small areas.

There is a light-hearted scale of 'fines' imposed if you are caught using the incorrect towel/body part combination. The accrued fines are used to buy replacement towels (and flannels) when necessary.

Your sex life must be amazing.

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 13/08/2024 10:59

I think you are being a bit over-cautious. I could understand it if it was the tea towel, but I don't think arms are any dirtier than hands for drying on a hand towel. If it's the hair that worries you, do you ever actually find hairs on the towel? If not, his hair's probably securely attached.

Turophilic · 13/08/2024 10:59

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles wins! Colour coded towels and a diagram will have me chuckling to myself all day.

I’m picturing a wall chart - like they have at the butchers, of a cow and a pig with all the names of the meat cuts? Mauve for neck, indigo for shoulders, perhaps?

@BargingOnBy , you are so very out of whack in this. He’s cleaning himself thoroughly before food prep and you’re objecting to use of a hand towel? Just say sorry to the poor bloke.

keylimedog · 13/08/2024 10:14

I mean he's washed them, so they're clean? He's hardly wiping his knob on your tea towel!

Laughing hysterically 😀

MaggieFS · 13/08/2024 11:05

BobbyBiscuits · 13/08/2024 10:31

But his arms would be clean when uses the towel? Do you not like sharing bath towels with him either?
I honestly don't see the issue. If he was washing his cock and balls in the kitchen sink I'd find it somewhat bizarre, but arms, nah! Totally fine.

Who the fuck shares a bath towel? 🤢

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 13/08/2024 11:10

I can't stand H wiping his forearms on any hand towel - because he leaves hairs on the towel. He is very hairy. I use a piece of kitchen towel to dab my hands dry and leave the towel for hairy H. We only have separate hand and bath towels in the main bathroom.

I hate wiping my hands on a towel which leaves a hair/hairs on me - has happened many times (and in other people's houses) 🤢 because I can't help speculating where the hair has come from.

So I'm with OP. Hand towels are for hands and not very hairy places.

Son in law is extremely hairy and I see curlies all over their house when I'm there 🤢 even on the grandchildren's toys.

Just keep a hand towel by the sink, I can't see what the problem is tbh and I'm quite intolerant.
So, looking at your other posts is it just the hair that bothers you - hair on the cloth?
I suppose that could be unpleasant, one of my cats likes to sleep on the tea towels and that means I have to throw it away because the fur doesn't come off.

BobbyBiscuits · 13/08/2024 11:16

@MaggieFS me and DH do. We have two on the go and use both...is that gross?! Gawd. The person's body is clean when they use it. I wouldn't use a strangers bath towel. Obviously.

🤣🤭🤣🤭
The question is do I apologise to him or just try to be less batshit about it in the future?

Both.

CheekySwan · 13/08/2024 11:17

give him his own hand towel in the kitchen, but yes that would annoy me, especially if the hairs that come out

my OH uses the hand towels to dry the kitchen worktops when he has soaked them - they are always wet - drives me insane, end up dying my hands on my legs 😂

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 13/08/2024 11:18

@BargingOnBy

You're welcome.

Don't think I'm OCD - but stray hairs (especially in wet places - worst place is swimming baths) make me shudder.

Edited

Not the hair, just the thought that it wasn’t very clean to dry body parts other than hands on the kitchen hand towel. I’ve seen the error of my ways now though 😀

OP, do you have cats or dogs ?

Moveoverdarlin · 13/08/2024 11:22

He’s washing his arms, not his balls.

Even so, it’s your husband! Don’t you do more unhygienic things to him than him drying his elbows on a tea towel??

I really feel for some blokes. Imagine getting a bollocking in your own home for washing your arms in the kitchen sink and then drying them on a tea towel. Imaging someone saying ‘Eww’ about stuff like this.
