TW - Upsetting information: XL Bully attack *edited by MNHQ

Another xl bully attack, this time it was in my home town last week.
An xl bully ran out of the house down the road and attacked the nearest dog it saw a little dauchshund ripping both its legs off, it took 4 men and two women to get the xl bully off the other dog. The other little dog is alive thanks to the bravery of other people there at the time , however it had to have both legs ( what was left of them ) amputated.
Its extremely sad. The owner of the dauchshund is an elderly lady who was out walking the little dog ans she is utterly traumatised as expected.
The dog has been seized and owners will be prosecuted we have been told.
The reason I'm posting this is because I feel prosecution and dog being seized hasnt really solved anything has it? What is being done to prevent what happened in the first place? Nothing?? These dogs are still attacking / killing animals and children/ adults
Am I being unreasonable in thinking enough isnt being done to get rid of these hurrendous dogs?????

I'm gonna vote for capybaras....

Minipigs would be best, far better than dogs in every way. They don't bark, don't attack people, far more suitable.

and you dont think it would be possible to (by selective breeding) turn a member of the porcine family into an animal that will attack?
Mini pig is to pig, as chihuahua is to dog!

OonaStubbs · 14/08/2024 01:52

I wouldn't allow people to keep full-sized pigs as pets. Only minipigs.

There has been another XLB attack on a child in Wales.
The child's grandmother said ''The XLB wanted the child'' {she tried to shield the boy with her body}

And another - again in Wales. {Attack on a child}

Oh FFS.

When will owners of big dogs get some common sense?

iwillgetbackupagain · 14/08/2024 02:44

The lot of them should be euthanised and the breed wiped out.

They are genetically programmed to be violent, aggressive and strong enough to kill. Owners and the level of responsibility they take is a factor, but ultimately you can't stop an animal that is bred in such a way that they can't control their aggression and strength.

I know of a woman who has one and also has an 8 year old child.

They live in a tiny house where the dog doesn't have much space to roam around. Also, the dog sometimes shares a bed with her child (who is autistic, very loud and unaware of personal space).

It is a recipe for disaster but apparently she will not be told. I can't bear the thought of what might happen if the dog snaps or something happens overnight.

I don't know what some people need to happen to knock some sense into them.

Watermel · 14/08/2024 11:16

@oakleaffy how utterly appalling and avoidable. I HATE these demon dogs, they all need to be wiped off the face of the earth. I hate even more the devil humans who own them and promote them as safe, misunderstood nanny dogs. The are evil, reckless and stupid, and it makes me so angry.

Those poor kids. Imagine losing your thumb because of a dog. He is lucky to be alive, as is the other child.

@iwillgetbackupagain
Some of the cult members appear to be completely unreachable, I read a report of a man whose arm was torn off by one of these dogs and he kept the pet.

The owners tend to be strongly emotionally bonded to the dog, there is no sense of reason or rationality, they love it more than they love family members of their own species.
This powerful sense of unconditional loyalty means that they will only ever defend the thing and attack you for insulting their beloved creature.

I think it's a mental illness and should be treated as such.

My goodness-
Look up 4 yr old Maya DeRouen (?) spelling?
She had a Pet XL bully that so say “ Loved her”

It flipped one day for no apparent reason - her mother saw it’s eyes take on a glassy cold dead stare like it was after prey.

It broke through a bedroom door to get at the little girl .
Killed her.

Took so many police rounds to kill it to release the child’s body.

An Autistic child with no boundaries is at more risk of attack by any dog- never mind an XLB

  • I have seen autistic child grab a dog’s face in two hands and mash her face into the dog’s face

The father said “ That’s why we chose this breed- good with kids”

Crazy.

@oakleaffy, yes, he is mistaken, a normal dog would give a warning before attacking, these types attack without warning and with lethal force.
They are too powerful to be pets, they are aware that they can easily overpower & kill humans. If you have one of these you are it's pet.

Tara336 · 14/08/2024 17:54

I saw an XL bully being walked on Monday without a muzzle. This person used to walk two at the same time and up until the ban started walking them!/parading them in the nearby streets and wooded areas. They weren't seen for ages after the ban but then appeared again but muzzled and walked one at a time occasionally. I have found out we have to report to police if we see them out with no muzzle but waited as I couldn't remove the name of the street I belove she lives on I now have that so will email about it

oakleaffy · 14/08/2024 22:29

This is a video put up by a breeder of these dogs....

They interviewed the owners of the dog who killed the little girl. ''Like a demon posessed him''

It tells of how the XL Pit was ''her dog''..''a completely sweet dawg''- til it wasn't.

A lot of these are in UK. Same genetics.

Woman attacked by staffy:

Another breed that needs to be olbiterated. I don't care if one is nice. They are a ticking time bomb.

And another one.

BlackShuck3 · 21/08/2024 20:05

Awful, there does seem to have been a shift, the attacks are mostly on the owners now.

It just highlights that registering a dangerous dog and making them wear a muzzle in public hasn't fixed the issue at all.

I don't think anything will get done about it though. Too many ignorant owners advocating and putting pressure on their rights as owners.

I worry for children in homes with these beasts.

BlackFriYay · 21/08/2024 21:15

I had to cross the road to avoid an unmuzzled XL today. My 6yo is autistic and terrified of big dogs, his first reaction is to scream when one comes near him.. we know how that would end 😔

I'm trying very hard to redirect him to more appropriate responses (IE quietly move away) but it's not that easy in practice. The fear is deep rooted.

Why can't these fucking chavs just stick a muzzle on the ugly things?!

CoconutSky · 21/08/2024 21:20

It’s about time every single one of these dogs was put down. Every fucking week there’s an attack. It’s an absolute joke.

Watermel · 21/08/2024 22:58

Starmer needs to do the right thing and order an immediate cull. Owners have one week to take their beast to the vets to get some pink juice, failing that, armed police to shoot on sight. Prison for anyone who doesn't take the dog to the vet.
