In Hospital and left alone

The massive message I wrote of course deleted.

I'm in hospital very poorly and did have DH and DD3 visiting bringing fresh water and clothes. Unfortunately they've caught a stomach bug whilst here and now can't help.

Feeling very upset that people around me are more bothered about my DD than the fact that I'm hospital with no clean clothes, and no end in sight to getting better.

Being in hospital is shit. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

CalicoPusscat · 09/08/2024 23:00

The hospital will wash them if you don't have any outside help?

Hope you get better soon 🌸

SkaneTos · 09/08/2024 23:00

I sorry to hear that you are poorly, OP! I really hope you will feel better soon.
And I hope that your DH and daughter will feel better soon, too.

Don't you get clean clothes from the hospital? Hospital clothes/gowns?

HÆLTHEPAIN · 09/08/2024 23:03

Aw, OP, that’s crap. Which hospital are you in? Someone nearby may help or know of who to contact. I would happily bring stuff to you if I was close.

CIng · 09/08/2024 23:09

@Petesdragoness I'm so sorry, this sounds difficult. Does anyone plan to visit tomorrow morning (or can they do so)?

paddyclampster · 09/08/2024 23:09

They had to bring water? Which hospital are you in?!

DoubleCoatedDogs · 09/08/2024 23:11

Sorry, have I misread this - are you annoyed that people seem to be more concerned about your daughter being ill than they are about you being in hospital?

WelshMoth · 09/08/2024 23:11

I'm sorry you're ill OP.
Where in the country are you?
I'm in Swansea if that helps?

You say DD3 is poorly. Are DD's 1 and 2 old enough to help?

CIng · 09/08/2024 23:12

I'll have a think about practical suggestions that may help OP. Do you have any idea how long they'll keep you in for?

Nadeed · 09/08/2024 23:12

I have never known a hospital wash patients clothes. If people need nightwear they get given a hospital gown.

Littletreefrog · 09/08/2024 23:13

Do People know you need things? I find people very often just think oh X is in hospital and therefore being looked after and that visiting is just for keeping you company. I would message whoever you are closest to and specifically ask them to bring what you need. People re generally helpful but rubbish at thinking so need actual instructions.

Otherstories2002 · 09/08/2024 23:13

Which people? I’m confused.

Petesdragoness · 09/08/2024 23:15

My DH took home a bag of stuff to wash and was going to bring a replacement bag back. I don't have much left and no gown needed.

They have water but it tastes like bleach, I'm diluting with ribena in between but I'm extremely dehydrated and it's not helping.

I was in a mixed ward yesterday and the visitor of a lady very kindly went and bought me bottles which has helped but I'm having to ration now.

Are you bed bound lovely? Most hospitals have shops and cafes. Any friends who could pop in?

Do you mean your 3rd daughter or your daughter who is 3?

Nadeed · 09/08/2024 23:17

You need to drink the water even if you don not like the taste. Getting dehydrated may make you ill.
If you have no one else at all who can help, sorry you need to manage with dirty clothes. But if there is anyone at all who can help, ask them

I have something the Drs can't work out so I've been told could be a couple more days, once they know then hopefully I can start more recovery.

I suspect by then DH will be safe to come visit but then hes likely back at work

Mine did, it was only one wash though. Most of the time I wore hospital clothes.

Hope it gets sorted soon @Petesdragoness DH should be better soon

Nadeed · 09/08/2024 23:20

Wearing dirty clothes for a few days while not nice, will not do you any harm. Sounds like you will be home soon.

Yes I tried that but ended up more dehydrated. And I don't know anyone would be happy re wearing shit and blood covered knickers, bit insensitive response

OP posts:
Nadeed · 09/08/2024 23:20

@CalicoPusscat I suspect one of the staff did at home to be kind.

Iasonnas · 09/08/2024 23:20

What is it you're wanting? Sounds like your daughter is at home poorly too?

Can you ask for some of the hospital paper pants in the meantime?

Alifemoreordinary123 · 09/08/2024 23:21

Sorry OP, that’s horrible. You could ask the ward staff or PALs (via email) whether they have volunteers who could help get you some bottles of water etc from the shop. Try and keep your spirits up. If I was there, I would come and help you as I’m sure others on here would.

SkaneTos · 09/08/2024 23:21

When I was in hospital they gave me hospital clothes to wear. Underwear, too. Can you ask?
