I guess the rioters have booked time off work?

Just strikes me that they’re all available during the working week and yet they somehow think they’re the backbone of society.

If I had to chose who I wanted to eradicate from society it would be exactly these cretins. Fit and healthy enough to riot, fight and terrorise police officers who all have families to get back to but not fit enough to be occupied with any economic activity during the day.

"Work" 😂😂😂

Good one @SunQueen24

You dont need time off Universal Credit/ fake PIP

Saschka · 07/08/2024 12:16

since when has there been strong bad feelings towards black people in the most recent decades?

Seriously?? I mean, it’s great you don’t know any racists, but there are people on threads on here at this very moment arguing that the Windrush generation and their children and grandchildren should all be shipped back where they came from.

Hopefully social services will be visiting the households of the school children involved.

Probably, this gets brought up a lot on here but extreme right wing views are clearly on all Prevent guidance and training, it's known to be an issue and those involved in identifying these behaviours and participation in stuff like this will be well aware.

DoIWantTo · 07/08/2024 12:18

@TryThinkingForYourself you’re not the only one reading the OP and their comments that way, the OP can sit there and pretend they’re a lot more intelligent but their fancy way of typing just highlights exactly what they’re really thinking. That and they see no irony whatsoever for talking about eradicating groups of people just because rioters are also saying similar things. They’re two sides of the one coin.

SunQueen24 · 07/08/2024 11:59

I did set it out in my OP, but I sense you’re needing a hand hold here.

The part where I said they believe themselves to be the “back bone” of society. Ie speak for us all and superior to “immigrants” yet “ are not fit enough to be occupied with any economic activity during the day.”

That’s the relevance. Rioting is neither economically productive, nor productive in any other measurable way. My point being that they’re hypocritical in their beliefs.

But carry on trying to target me. I can tell you’re enjoying it 😃

Wtf? Rioting and committing violent racist crimes isn't wrong because it's "not productive"! It's wrong because racist violence is wrong.

And you still know fuck all about the employment status of these individuals.

notimagain · 07/08/2024 12:19

@Wordsofprey

…I'm going to assume as he killed little girls for seemingly no reason). But this is the trigger that has caused riots? We see plenty of events that could be the straw to break the camels back so to speak, but this seems... Misdirected?

I think it was a two stage process… TBH I think a heck lot of people were starting to get v pee’d off a day or two before the stabbing due to the apparently very very quick release into the community, supposedly without being charged but on bail, of the two thugs involved in the Manchester Airport incident….

After that it didn’t need much of a push for things to start kicking off and the stabbing provided it.

maddiemookins16mum · 07/08/2024 12:20

You can bet that the louts rioting are not turning up at 9am to work at the local Solicitors or are Midwives at the hospital. They are a section of the community that do not work (mostly), they are the dregs.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 07/08/2024 12:21

Lwrenn · 07/08/2024 11:40

The imam from the Liverpool mosque took the rioters burgers and chips.
He hugged them and offered to listen.

He is a wonderful man who we could all learn from 🥰

Did he really? Aw man I wish that had been a lead story somewhere.

DoIWantTo · 07/08/2024 12:21

@maddiemookins16mum you think unemployed people are the dregs of society?

Before maternity leave I used to work as a youth worker. Get to know these people. The majority of them have been abused, should have been diagnosed with a learning disability, missed childhoods, they never stood a chance. There’s a difference between working class and underclass.

Mock them for not having any GCSEs, or teeth, or having to live on £70 a week benefits, for not understanding how voting works, that it’s not their foreign colleagues fault for competing for the same zero hour shift (imagine turning up to work at 5am and being told that there’s no work today) but actually the shareholders/government policy for allowing zero hour ‘contracts’, laugh at the guy who blames foreigners for stealing his job when he’s got a criminal record (obviously got learning disability too but who cares), how do you expect them to be able to form a debate or understand how our government works as it’s not taught in schools? All they know is that they regularly don’t have hot water and have never stayed in a hotel but ‘those’ men are put up in ‘fancy’ holiday expresses.

Once upon a time we used to throw the British underclass into work houses and it was seen as charity work. The underclass was seen subhuman, children separated from mothers to be trained to go into service, men and women worked to the bone 6 days a week for literal gruel.

I wonder how many people on here have turned up to work and there’s no shift/sent home penniless? Been on the housing list for years? Not ever stayed in a hotel? Not got a working shower? Zero opportunity for social mobility? Live on £30 a week? Not supported at school? Never told to brush their teeth as a child? The only book they were forced to read at school was Shakespeare and wondering why they don’t value the only resource they’ve got?

You’re expecting a members of our society living on crumbs to share those crumbs nicely. And when they say ‘why are we having to share our crumbs?’ Or ‘I’m not racist as I’ve got friends that are foreign but my housing block is half foreign and my sister has been waiting for eight years.. and number 7 only arrived here five years ago’.

But nobody has ever listened to them. The only way they know to get attention is bad attention. Keir telling them that they’re all going to get thrown in prison for ten years if they don’t go back to their grotty little lives whilst the rest of society continues to laugh at them. It’s not the way to de-escalate the situation. It’s like telling the naughty kid that he’s going to be thrown out of school unless he start behaving, but he doesn’t care as he can’t read the worksheets, feels everyone hates him and told it’s a waste of time. At least he’s got some attention being told he’s about be thrown out. They need someone to put their hand on their shoulder and feel listened to. At the moment they’ve only got Tommy and Nigel.

This.

MouseofCommons · 07/08/2024 12:23

Loads of self employed in there I reckon. They don't answer to anyone and can muck their customers about as much as they like.

BeEasyonYourself · 07/08/2024 12:25

Oh I did! I was part of the counter protest though 😊

Edited

Like I said I've got my tin foil hat on and I don't expect to be agreed with by anybody, because my thoughts are slightly....out there.

You make a very good point. I suppose in that sense there has been a few things recently that have pointed in this direction, firstly the children being taken by SS and the Romanian community instigating their own local riot (had British people forgotten they had the ability to riot before seeing that? Tongue in cheek) then the airport attack, then this.. it's either the perfect storm or it's been instigated from the top IMO.

One of the main triggers making me think this isn't entirely natural is the speed and severity of which weve seen mobs attack random people walking in the street. I mean, it's fucking insane. I suppose some of these people were shaken like a bottle of coke ready to explode, but I still think there has been some intervention on getting these riots to exactly where they are, strong, serious, masses of violent people willing to attack pretty much anybody and anything that doesn't fit with their "britain". Maybe it's wishful thinking that I don't believe there are this many people willing to dig into random young black men on the street at the drop of a hat.

SomeoneelsessFault · 07/08/2024 12:29

I've seen a couple of people I know in pictures of riots local to me. I don't agree with the riots. With their fake 'reasons', or with the violence. I don't like them and wish they were not happening.

I do know that the people I have seen and know in pictures in my local news work hard. They work longer hours than me by far, and I work full time in term time. I also know that one of them is a relatively recent migrant, which was upsetting. I know that I do not fully understand the riots. I know that if we want them to stop, that saying they just lazy racist scroungers, is unlikely to do it. There is a lot I do not know, but I am confident of that.

ChefsKisser · 07/08/2024 12:32

The Government should mandate anyone involved loses any benefits they claim and employers should sack them if employed. See if they still want to riot if they’re living off fresh air.

Beezknees · 07/08/2024 10:53

Don't get me wrong, I can't stand the rioting but not everyone works 9-5 Monday to Friday.

This. Don't know the obsession with " working day" being 9-5. I certainly don't work those hours and neither do most people I know

Yes, and more so.

Because they’ll need to loot to eat and will have nothing left to lose. If your only hope of a roof over your head is prison, you may as well go down big time.

I really don’t think the aim should be to drive even more people into the underclass

Should we do this for all criminals? Do you think people being unable to secure jobs and having no money rolling in would be good for society? There's an excellent post further upthread from someone explaining why this group of disaffected young men end up like this (not excusing their behaviour either, but it's very insightful); perhaps the real cure is addressing those underlying issues? Wild idea I know.

Gatherings have been in the evenings. Many people work and finish at 4 or 5.

"gatherings"? well that's a new word for rampaging through the streets torching buildings, burning cars, smashing windows, lotting and terrorising people.

Melonjuice · 07/08/2024 12:38

Haven’t the DWP stopped PIP payments to some i doubt they all work

Blondiebeachbabe · 07/08/2024 12:38

You're broad brushing a whole set of people, with absolutely nothing to back up your claims. This is EXACTLY what Starmer did, when he labelled everyone far right. Do you live in an Ivory tower?

CombatLingerie · 07/08/2024 12:41

Excellent post@Expatfamily many years ago in my teaching role I used to liaise with the Youth Offenders team. Sorry I don’t know what that role would be called nowadays. I recognise exactly the people and scenarios you describe. It’s depressing that not a thing has changed in all these years.

Lifeomars · 07/08/2024 12:43

I think that a fair few of them will end up out of work as the court cases pile up and social media puts names to faces. Did anyone see the headlines about that woman who worked as a childminder but has now been arrested for posting the most hateful tweet about wanting to set fire to hotels housing asylum seekers. She will be struggling to find work when she loses her registration

Mumandcarer80 · 07/08/2024 12:43

But the immigrants are taking all our jobs😂😂😂 oh the irony.
