When.. they are the vast majority in England.

I’ve heard of one in NI: and none in Scotland or Wales.

Anyway.. moot point probably now. Rumours are that there are “protests” planned in Glasgow.

cunts

Perhaps they were inspired by this thread.

Because you believe that it’s pathetic doesn’t mean that it should be deleted. Plenty of threads on mn are pathetic.

MN can decide whether it's pathetic enough or not.

whether it is pathetic or not doesn’t matter: it is whether it breaks talk guidelines.

Scotland was given permission to have a referendum, yes.

Youre ignoring the small point of the following:

Once Scotland were given permission to ha a referendum, Scotland voted to stay in the UK.

If Scotland wanted to leave the UK, they would.

They don't.

And I was able to say that you , without hurling insults at you.

Unlike you, who called me stupid.

Try to say your point, without throwing insults at people.

How about uninformed? Or ignorant - that's not an insult, its a factual statement for when somebody doesn't know something. You are ignorant of the law in relation to the legislation and governance of the constituent countries of the United Kingdom, for example. Although I'm sure there are other words for when someone doesn't know something but spreads misinformation. LIke all those people who suggested the Southport attacker was an immigrant, for example.

You said Scotland and Wales "continually" agreed to be part of the UK
You insisted on this despite people who have occasionally read a newspaper proving you wrong.

You're now saying that Scotland having one referendum, a decade ago, before the biggest social, political and economic change in the last 40 odd years (given your demonstrated very limited knowledge I should probably err on the safe side and explain I'm referring to Brexit), is somehow equivalent to Scotland AND WALES, a completely different country with a different parliament and legislation (which, just to spell it out has never had a referendum) "continually" choosing to stay part of the UK

You're right, calling you stupid was probably unnecessary.....I'm sure anyone reading your comments could make up their own minds about your intelligence

Not everyone in the UK wants to be part of the UK.

🙋🏼‍♀️ I do!

I was talking about Glasgow football clubs.

Each as bad as the other…with the exception of Partick Thistle!

Thevelvelletes · 06/08/2024 22:01

One isn't better than the other.

This is quite simply not true.

One is 10000000% worse than the other.

BlueBellsArePretty · 06/08/2024 23:53

I'm sure if these riots were only occurring in Scotland you would not be happy with them being referred to as UK riots. The poster you were replying to was only pointing this out, she was not referring to her own nationality 👍

I wouldn't give a shit. Scotland is also in the UK. However if it were only in Scotland, that would be easy. However, it's happening so far in two of the home nations. Simple logic really.

Treesinmygarden · 07/08/2024 20:22

BlueBellsArePretty · 07/08/2024 00:01

Why should you be above reproach just because you've lived in NI? Your tone to the previous poster was patronising and hyperbolic.

Indeed???

What a ridiculous thing to say.

That's too bad. The fact remains.

You're way behind the times.
I was talking about the support of the main two Glasgow football clubs.

You think the riots would have started last Tuesday in Southport if those girls were tucked up in bed? We are talking about these specific riots. Not next month or next year. Now. The ones that started in Southport.

What you are doing is a really common misinformation tactic which is used to peddle a particular belief at all costs by challenging particular words or parts of a statement and then use this to discount everything opposing your view. Do I think we would still have had riots if the Southport atrocity had not happened? Yes, 100 percent. The reason for these riots is not those girls or concerns for them or their welfare. It is that right wing views have been gaining traction, inflamed and stoked by bad actors, and facilitated by internet platforms. Would that have happened this week? Who knows, depends if something else happened judged bad enough to hang the rationale for rioting on (although it is hard to imagine anything as bad). But this stuff has been growing for years and is more likely to happen in times of economic hardship and deprivation. And also more likely in warm but not excessively hot weather and times when more people are on holiday. Your point seems to be that the atrocity was the sole reason for the rioting. And that is just plain wrong.

Many of the protesters/rioters in Belfast have actually come up from Ireland to cause shit. They're not protesting on behalf of the UK, they're just continuing their own racist shit from last year.

There are English far right people involved in stirring up protest over immigration in Northern Ireland as well by all accounts - where I live it's been reported that there's a bloke comes over from London regularly to lead a protest outside a hotel housing asylum seekers.

That's what I am talking about.

There are one set of fans who are by far the worst.

Everyone seems to be pussyfooting about it but I'll just say it.

Rangers fans are worse.

The riots are concentrated in areas with high levels of ethnic minorities. Scotland is 95% white. It’s not hard to work out why there are fewer rioters in Scotland. It doesn’t make scotland ‘nicer’ than the rest of the UK.

There's a huge immigrant population in Glasgow.

Of course they are. And if there's riots here they'll be out in full force, draped in Union Jack's, claiming moral superiority because of their "loyalty". Total knuckledraggers.
Celtic has its roots in helping the less fortunate. Rangers has its roots in keeping them down.
