I wonder how many of the posters decrying it swim in the sea, where countless billions and billions of creatures have lived, shat, died and decomposed over millions of years?

There are an awful lot of infections picked up in the sea, even in the cleanest waters.

Only for the last few weeks of the season. I'd rather dogs than raw sewage in the sea.

It's not a big bath though is it?

Although I've not been to Saltdean Lido - is it a pool or a lake? But if it's a pool, it's effectively a big bath and the animals would be close to you.

The sea is massive and everything gets washed away, more or less (raw sewage excepted).

I think the most "dangerous" places to swim are open water lakes. Lots of nasty parasites and the like. My ds did a kayaking course at a local lake and caught something which laid him low for about 3 weeks.

Washed away? Where to?

Verv · 17/09/2024 17:09

I think its lovely, Assume it gets cleaned afterwards so have no issue at all.
Its for dogs and their owners - if you dont have a dog, and dont want to go, dont.

AlwaysGinPlease · 17/09/2024 17:19

So many dumb comments. It'll be emptied and cleaned before humans swim in it next time for goodness sake 🙄

Should be an end of season one weekend event not every weekend - yuk!

Why?
It is not open in the week during 'Dogtember'.

It is an end of season event, the pool isn't open for non-dog related customers at all, its just the last couple of weekends where the temps are still just about warm enough, but there aren't really enough normal customers to make opening for them financially viable.

By having a couple of doggy weekends (with no other customers in between) they can make way more money which goes towards maintaining the pool.

If you'd read the thread or even skimmed through it... you'd know all that!

Further into the sea where people aren't swimming. My point is the sea is very big, a lido or pool less so.

That's why they do it only immediately before the annual deep clean

Just saw over 5000 doggies enjoyed a swim there !
