If you stopped feeding it, and someone else started, do you honestly think doggy would stay loyal to you?

Why would I stop feeding him?

My DC don't feed him and he idolised them

Maybenexttime08 · 06/08/2024 17:33

What's disgusting? Dog hair? I've seen humans do some disgusting things in pools - thank goodness for filters :)

KimberleyClark · 06/08/2024 17:40

I cannot take the complaints about dog hair seriously. How many peop,e wear a swim cap when they go swimming? All pools will have human hair in them.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/08/2024 17:44

Ours used to spend holidays with lovely 'aunties' who I think fed him better (in his view) than I did, spoilt him rotten... but of course he was always overjoyed to see me. Actually I think he was also happy when he was picked up by DH who didn't do much of the feeding.

LilBowWow · 06/08/2024 17:51

I wouldn’t feed dogs directly before swimming in case they get cramp.

He lives the life he knows he deserves…..he has us well trained to meet his many needs😂

I take it you'll be visting the Lido area, putting him up in a five-star hotel with the best steak, and carrying him into the venue on a velvet cushion? 😂😂😂

perfectstorm · 06/08/2024 16:56

Aww, that's a shame. I was hoping the Mumsnet bingo card could really kick up a gear.

People do park on double yellow lines when the lido is busy, if that helps you. Not during the dog swims though…they have marshalls.

Scorchio84 · 06/08/2024 17:59

Wish we had Lidos over here

MN is full of threads about how it is vile that dogs are allowed in cafes... they cite hygiene issues, yet those same dog friendly cafes have 5* ratings.

Your are right... it is up to the people who runs such establishments as to whether to allow dogs or not.. and in some place (such as Lake District), the canine £ goes far.

I was in the Lake District recently, and was beginning to wonder if it was compulsory to have a dog with you at all times.

A few places asked for dogs to be dry, but that seemed to be the only stipulation.

Have you been to the Lakes before? Lots of walkers and enthusiasm for the great outdoors goes hand in hand with dog ownership. It's always been like that. I spent half my childhood on walks with our border collie up one Wainwright or another back in the 80s!

Yourdemonsyourproblem · 07/08/2024 00:32

You do understand that humans don't wash, shed skin cells, pee, spit and have their bare genitals in pools which you're fine to swim in but you have a problem with a dog who is probably cleaner than some humans.
Grow up

Willyoujustbequiet · 07/08/2024 00:37

I'm dog owner

The idea makes me feel sick. Disgusting.

Anotherparkingthread · 07/08/2024 00:44

Well if we talk totally honestly you are much more likely to get a disease from another person. Cross species isn't really a thing. Lots of kids with verucas tho lol.

JudyJudeplusOne · 07/08/2024 00:46

I live just down the road and this sounds fab!

spriggit · 07/08/2024 17:52

it would be dog tapeworms that would be the issue for me. Does everyone worm their dog religiously?

Tape worm eggs come out with faeces, and they need to be ingested.
Dogs don't shit as they swim, and the owners are not going to be swallowing water.
Total non-issue.

Royaly82 · 07/08/2024 18:21

I've seen the colour of the water after I've bathed my dogs, and many times had to rinse off their backsides after they toileted
One of ours LOVES rolling in fox and horse shit and the hairs that come off them is nuts.
This is disgusting 😳

sunglassesonthetable · 07/08/2024 18:27

Well I suppose a dirty dog is dirty dog. Just like a dirty person is a dirty person.

Do you think people will be taking their dogs straight from a walk and using the pool as a wash down? I suppose you run the risk of people doing that too for themselves.

Did you see it's just a special event before the pool is cleaned @Royaly82 ? Not routine.

Brightonseafront · 07/08/2024 18:29

I absolutely love dogs and animals
in general, but to me that’s just disgusting& unhygienic thing to do in a public pool, off putting and inconsiderate 🤮🤢

Brightonseafront · 07/08/2024 18:32

.. also .. swallowing some water during swimming in almost inevitable, even when we don’t realise it.

sunglassesonthetable · 07/08/2024 18:37

@Brightonseafront

No it's not inconsiderate, it's a special event run for dogs and owners, ticket only, before the pool is drained and cleaned.

It's a good thing then that dog owners (the only humans allowed in the pool during those sessions) have a choice whether to go in (and how deep) or not.

llamajohn · 06/08/2024 07:50

They let dogs into the lido with people on weekends 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

https://www.saltdeanlido.co.uk/dogtember

Do they clean the pool after? If they do, I don’t mind. I’m a cat person, but thought it was quite cute to see the doggies throwing themselves in.

Jumpers4goalposts · 07/08/2024 19:30

It’s a special session and advertised as such. Get over it.

Havinganamechange · 07/08/2024 19:32

Urghhhh vile 🤮
