Is it already end of swimming/ summer season ?! That’s so depressing!
I get it… Not inconsiderate then, still not a fan, but I’m sure great fun day out for those taking part! 🐶 🎈 🥳

Joloman74 · 07/08/2024 19:49

It's is actually disgusting that is! I've just read it, who in there right mind would want to swim in water with loads of other dogs. The hygiene implications of this is unthinkable! Utterly disgusting, I for one will never go near something like this and I'm sure a lot of others feel the same. I am a dog lover but I draw the line at swimming with them and there dirty backsides!

Good thing no one is forcing you to, and you wouldn't even be allowed in without a dog. The pool is shut for the general public! You can breathe easy.

P.S. You obviously haven't read the thread.

Hunglikeapolevaulter · 07/08/2024 20:07

Do they clean the pool after? If they do, I don’t mind. I’m a cat person, but thought it was quite cute to see the doggies throwing themselves in.

Yes. They have some dog swim sessions after the pool is shut for the season, as a way to raise some additional much-needed funds. Everything is then drained and cleaned for the winter.

The facts are being roundly ignored by many on the thread who would rather have a good froth.

sunglassesonthetable · 07/08/2024 20:13

@Joloman74

You'd need to buy a ticket. And without a dog you couldn't anyway. Luckily they haven't made it compulsory.

We'd all go. My dog would love it. And I get in the sea. Hardly worse than that

Nextdoor55 · 07/08/2024 20:19

Love the idea although I know for sure my dog hates water & even avoids puddles so won't be going sadly 😂

Lampshadeblue · 07/08/2024 21:55

Sounds awesome! 😎

MogTheMoogle · 06/08/2024 07:58

It looks like they are not running normal sessions...only dog ones.

I assume then it's a little way of keeping it popular, in possibly an otherwise quiet month.

As its only dogs, I presume it coincides with a drain and/or big scrub at the end of the month.

I'm not thrilled with the idea of swimming in a pool alongside multiple dogs, or getting into one after hundreds across a weekend has got in. But if it's been completely cleaned ready for when they reopen for humans, it can't be any dirtier that whatever anyone else has got in.

There is no way a pool would be drained and scrubbed monthly !

FeetLikeFlippers · 07/08/2024 22:20

What, in the actual water??? That’s gross. 🤢

Kedibone27 · 07/08/2024 22:25

Absolutely Disgusting! I love dogs but this makes me want to throw up. Someone somewhere has lost the plot! 🤢🤮

Toptops · 08/08/2024 00:02

What a disgusting idea.
A solid no from me

You are so angry, and yet you are conveniently missing the part where the pool is thoroughly drained and cleaned after the event. THEIR dirty backsides are probably cleaner than some of the humans who swim there.

But carry on, I love the pearl clutching.

Hunglikeapolevaulter · 08/08/2024 04:47

Omg are you all stupid! It's ar the end of the season when it's no longer open for general swimming, and is then drained and cleaned.
For the fucking millionth time.

Joloman74 · 08/08/2024 06:04

I have read the thread thankyou for your input. 😁

VK456 · 08/08/2024 06:17

Ewwww…
No thanks.

Rottweilermummy · 08/08/2024 06:47

I think that's wrong tbh, my dog is malting like mad and think of all the other dogs that malt, I can't imagine that chlorine is very good for dogs either ( or is it salt water) I was thinking about our local lido whether people took dogs but thought it would be a ridiculous idea lol . I know people do let dogs in swimming pools but their own private ones. Swimming is great for dogs I am lucky to have a few safe areas of river to take mine

faffadoodledo · 08/08/2024 07:02

@Rottweilermummy but in this case the moulting isn't a problem because as its already been said upthread, the pool will be drained.
As for chlorine, modern pools are far less harsh than they used to be so I really don't think that is a problem.

Have people not seen the 13 pages of posts?

Marshtit · 08/08/2024 07:20

i think its a lovely idea and obviously popular

Marshtit · 08/08/2024 07:21

nobody will force you to go

MinnieMountain · 08/08/2024 07:22

Peterborough lido did it the year before last. I didn’t mind as it was after the last public session. It was really popular.

Scorchio84 · 08/08/2024 08:05

My auntie used to have to take Sam, her rescue Lab, to the sea, he in a life before her used to get "trained" with a hosepipe, he had PTSB so normal washing him was a no go, he loved the ocean but it was a pain for my auntie, if we had Lidos here he would have loved it
