Absolute sub-human scum rioting in the streets. Attacking hotels with humans inside. Burning down libraries and CABs. Pretending it’s about immigration when it’s just mindless animal violence.

I am very much looking forward to their days in court. Starting point for Violent Disorder - two years. Attempted Murder? Life sentence.

Not so hard now, are you lads? Fuck you all. I just sympathise with their wives and kids cos a sentence like that means saying goodbye to any social housing they might live in.

And they filmed themselves. I hope they live in fear of that knock on the door for years. Then when it comes, I hope they realise that they’ve ruined their lives.

Them, and the traitors who encouraged them.

Scumbags one and all.

And frankly I don’t care if anyone thinks I’m being unreasonable or not.

Do you think people's families get kicked out of social housing if they go to prison?

DonnaWinter · 04/08/2024 19:40

What are you talking about? People don’t get evicted from local authority or housing association property because their spouse goes to jail.

ChefsKisser · 04/08/2024 19:42

I hope their families don’t get kicked out for their homes but I agree. That animalistic dangerous racist behaviour needs to come home to roost.

ViscountDreams · 04/08/2024 19:44

Don't be ridiculous.

My mum lives in social housing. One of her neighbours got sent down for 9 months for theft. Her kids went to live with their dad and her 3 bed HA house sat empty for the 5 months or so she was inside, awaiting her return. She came out, moved back in and was delighted to tell everyone that no rent had been due for the period she was inside, it had been waived.

There's a zero percent chance that anyone's spouse or kids would be kicked out 🙄

This happened in 2011 in Wandsworth (one of the centres of rioting was Clapham Junction). If a person on a tenancy was convicted of certain offences, the tenancy could be ended.

Caused much discussion on MN at the time (because homeowning rioters did not lose their homes), but much local support from damaged communities who did not want those who caused the damage to remain there.

(I was formerly fairly local)

CautionaryTaleGirl · 04/08/2024 19:48

I hope they do lose their social housing.

ToofHurty · 04/08/2024 19:49

Starting point for Violent Disorder - two years

Released after serving 40% of that, under Labour’s announced plans to deal with prison overcrowding.

And it’s doubtful that anyone’s family is going to be evicted from their social housing.

They’re disgusting animals, but unfortunately if you’re looking forward to them receiving an adequate punishment I fear you’ll be waiting a long time.

Previously it was released after serving 50% so not a huge difference.

Don't forget the mandatory 1/3 off for pleading guilty at the earliest opportunity

Well sounds like your post is full of hate too. Not excusing them though.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 04/08/2024 19:56

One of them has already sat in court and cried.

I thought they were supposed to be big and tough? If you’re going to act like a racist lunatic you need to see it through. Not crumple at the first hurdle.

They were thousands in rent arrears and as the mother was the only one named on the tenancy as he was a teenager, bit different to a couple (who would hopefully both be on the tenancy...) with children. It's also very rare which is why it made the press; generally even someone living alone in social housing can keep their home as long as the sentence is under a certain length and they nominate a 'caretaker'.

It is. I do hate seditious racist violent thugs.

No exactly making an effort to be employable are they? Those thugs so obsessed with people stealing ‘their’ jobs. Prats the lot of them.

I’ve worked with a lot of children who had at least 1 parent in jail, they all continued to live in their council houses. If they were ever evicted it certainly wasn’t because mum or dad was in prison.

Cattery · 04/08/2024 20:03

What makes you assume the rioters live in social housing? How naive and narrow minded

No not if they go to prison but if they have been found guilty of violence in riots they can because a change in the law a while ago

ExtraOnions · 04/08/2024 20:06

Arson with intent … life sentence

Looting .. anything from 6 months to 3 years

Inciting a riot anywhere between 3-6 years

Keyboard warriors got 4 years after the London riots.

Get them locked up ..

TokyoSushi · 04/08/2024 20:07

There's no space in the prisons though...

That's right it has also happened in other areas.
One of anti social Behaviour grounds for eviction is

Intimidating behaviour - threatening or unruly behaviour, drunkenness, harassment and loitering in public spaces. Thai covers rioting

Do you have a link for this? I'd be interested to read more about it. I don't care about those who commit these crimes, but awful if it means families are kicked out, and not a scenario I've come across.

AuntieMarys · 04/08/2024 20:08

That's a good point and angle I hadn't considered and I've not seen said elsewhere.
