to say women don't have XY chromosomes?

1000 replies

taylorswift1989 · 03/08/2024 11:55

Seeing a lot of posts on social media with people admitting they were "wrong" to call Imane Khelif a man, and that they now understand "she's a woman with XY chromosomes."

Am I going insane? A person with XY chromosomes is male! (Regardless of how they identify, of course.) Why are people saying stuff that is obviously nonsensical? Are people really that ignorant of basic biological facts?

Obviously but the man ranked 699 isn't getting anywhere near men's Wimbledon or the US Open is he?

Sure. And I do agree that there needs to be some stratification to allow women to be celebrated/
win medals in professional sports

Very generous of you. 🙄

*A DNA test versus a letter on a passport.

Complex indeed.*

I totally disagree with trans women being allowed into women's sport but a person who is born with DSD I haven't decided especially when they have grown up as one sex.

I have no idea what provision Algerian society would make for a DSD child to hop over to another sex. And no idea whether medical provision would even diagnose it.

It doesn't matter what he grew up as,he's male.

Being raised believing he was female doesn't make him female.

sunglassesonthetable · 03/08/2024 19:44

I’m sorry that you find biological facts “hate filled rants”. There are only two sexes. There is really nothing I can say that can break it to you more gently. Real life is hard, and you may well struggle more in your future, sorry again.
@Bambooshoot

You're not sorry so save it.

There is clearly not much that I can say to point out that you going loco on a subject on here doesn't make it more convincing.

Save the repeated personal insults for another thread, it might work there.

I don't find biological facts anything but biological facts.

Hate filled presumptions are something else.

You're a feminist who thinks women can have penises, advocates pitting males against females in fights, would pass opportunities for elite women over to crap men and doesn't see any point to female athletes. You're a feminist whose every argument is based in fallacy, Newspeak, deflection, obfuscation, denial and argument by assertion. There is literally nothing else to it. It isn't just not feminism, it's male supremacism, it's dangerous, and it's absolutely barking.

sunglassesonthetable · 03/08/2024 19:45

This is not new information for the athlete or anyone around them. And it's not complex to diagnose, male puberty and female puberty can't be mistaken for each other and an individual with 5ARD has male puberty

@Nameychangington

How on earth do YOU know that?

yes I do.

no I don’t.

but I DONT think they are comparable to “shit men”. Not at all, I have an explained why very clearly.

so yeh, drop your manipulative tactics. It’s the lowest of low.

Of course you do. That's literally why you want them to compete against each other. What could be more of a direct comparison than that? Again, do you not follow your own reasoning, such as it is?

sunglassesonthetable · 03/08/2024 19:48

You don't believe that people sought to exploit people with DSDs, I don't accept those boxers are females.
That's 1-1.

@Runningupthecurtains

You just didn't come up with ANY examples so 🤷‍♀️

Ilovetowander · 03/08/2024 19:49

I am not sure on this but believe the case is very different from a trans woman. If someone was at birth female then I would respect that as I think you can only be male or female. I think it is complex and I feel very sorry for the individuals invovleved.

No one knows what DSD this athlete has but given that their body shows that they are testosterone sensitive it's can't be CAIS or Swyer's so 5ARD is the most likely. That ls the one Caster Semenya, Christine Mboma and a load of other 'female' athletes have. It would fit with a baby in a developing country being believed female at birth but turning out not to be.

Hepwo · 03/08/2024 19:49

So he's a woman hitting women without ever being seen with a hijab on. Allah approved he told us.

Are the feminists here in agreement? A woman can leave off the hijab and Allah will approve? Does Allah check birth certificates?

No Transwomen have been permitted since Rio in 2016, but the rule change was made late in the Olympic cycle so limited opportunity for qualification. Tokyo was the first games where a full cycle had taken place to allow qualification.

The thing is, it’s not just about the Olympic, which such a small minority of people have a shot at. What does happen is the filter down effect - girls and women being pushed out of grassroots competition (which is happening, there are plenty of threads on Twitter listing transwoman who have won women’s events) which in turn means they don’t earn enough recognition to get scholarships/accepted into sports programmes. Fast forward another 10 years and there’s a massive drop in girls moving through into the elite adult programme, and maybe then people might start noticing when there are fewer women taking up professional sport.

How many women have to lose out for it to matter to you?

What about competitions which aren't the Olympics?

What about the women who are injured? I posted couple of examples up thread.

What about the women who lose out on sporting scholarships for college? You know, the women who wouldn't otherwise be ble to afford an education.

Your feminist credentials are rubbish. No feminist prioritises the wants of men over the needs of women.

Yep and I'm questioning the " not turning out to be bit "

How easy is it for a 12 your old with a cervix to stop being a girl in Algeria or anywhere else for that matter?

Argument by assertion and denial. If you had more time we'd get the full house.

I'm starting to wonder about you as a poster. I don't think you're a troll, but there's no way you don't see the doublethink, dishonesty and sheer absurdity of your posts. It simply isn't possible. I think that for some reason, you are very emotionally invested in what you think championing this cause says about you as a person, and that emotional drive is strong enough to exist in your head alongside the knowledge that everything you say is absurd. It's the very nature of doublethink.
