to say women don't have XY chromosomes?

taylorswift1989 · 03/08/2024 11:55

Seeing a lot of posts on social media with people admitting they were "wrong" to call Imane Khelif a man, and that they now understand "she's a woman with XY chromosomes."

Am I going insane? A person with XY chromosomes is male! (Regardless of how they identify, of course.) Why are people saying stuff that is obviously nonsensical? Are people really that ignorant of basic biological facts?

They are not dominating female sports.

Really, American female cyclists would disagree with you!

It’s not difficult - they were DNA tested and shown as men previously. The Olympic committee just asked what they had in their passports ( which we know can be changed anyway) and whether they were pregnant (clearly not, since they’re men). Not sure why you’re so keen to argue against such a clear injustice against women, I can only guess you have a vested interest, maybe you should come clean and declare it?

My point stands . Two world governing bodies disagree which makes me acknowledge this is a complex issue.

But one of those bodies did tests in two separate independent labs, and the other looked at a document which says what the owner chooses it to say. Why would you give their conclusions equal weight?

Sorry - your “point” (whatever it was) does not stand, this is not a complex issue. They are men. There are two sexes. They were fighting women. This was wrong.

Why would the IOC?

There is nuance to this that this person was born and raised as a woman and has female sex organs.

I haven't made up my mind yet.

Obviously but the man ranked 699 isn't getting anywhere near men's Wimbledon or the US Open is he?

Unless useful idiots create a loophole whereby he can 'become' a woman then suddenly he's in the running to walk away with the women's title without much effort.

Obviously but the man ranked 699 isn't getting anywhere near men's Wimbledon or the US Open is he?

Sure. And I do agree that there needs to be some stratification to allow women to be celebrated/
win medals in professional sports

Give up what ? Challenging you on your attempt to spread simplistic and degrading generalisations about sex, and pass them off as “objective” and “scientific” “truths”.

So is this boxer a feminist? No hijab. Are you proud of this? Are you amplifying Muslim women who are promoting this boxers feminist stance against the hijab?

That's a ridiculous argument.

And I think you know it.

She was raised as a woman, she was born with a vagina.

Do you think that people born with vaginas are men?

She was identified female at birth despite her abnormal external anatomy, in a country where homosexuality or abnormal sexual phenotypy are illegal. By the time she was 10/11 it would have been obvious that she was entering puberty without the features of a young woman; no pelvis change, no menstruation, no breasts, the unfortunate armpit smell of a developing boy , sudden jump in height and strength. And then once the Dr has her on file the sports coaches come around. Please do not for one moment think that her DSD was a surprise 2 years ago.
She has broken no rule. The question is; should XY DSD people with androgen sensitivity be allowed to compete against XX women ?

What? What has being Muslim and the hijab got to do with anything??

OvaHere · 03/08/2024 19:32

Worth remembering that people were rebuked and gaslighted for years by the media and the IOC about Caster Semenya being female. Until it all came out in a court case and now they have to admit Semenya has a DSD that only affects males.

Too late for all the women who lost out to Semenya (and the other 2 males on the 2016 podium). Women whom have never been apologised, compensated or had their rightful win recognised.

The IOC and the media will lie to us all until they can't anymore.

laurel hubbard is a trans woman.

I’m not an expert in this area but I believe that Trans people have been able to compete in the Olympics since 2004, and no trans woman has won a medal? They are not dominating female sports.

He was a mediocre weight lifter in the male category prior to transition and then magically won gold at the Pacific Games in the women's competition, which means a woman who had spent years training lost out.

The average age of female weight lifters at the last Olympics was 26, Hubbard was about 40.

A female Pacific Island (Samoan iirc) weight lifter missed out on her Olympic dream because an entitled man took her place.

The IOC only required boxers who wanted to box in the women's competition to have a passport which says they're female. That's all they checked. And a lot of countries allow self ID as male, female or neither in passports. So the IOCs definition of female is useless.

The IOC deliberately dropped fairness in women's sports in favour of 'inclusion' - meaning including males with DSDs and gender feelings. They sold women's sport out in favour of males getting what they wanted. This isn't an error, this is their policy.

A DNA test versus a letter on a passport.

Complex indeed.

So no modest clothing, no hijab? Muslim and yet no comment?

So your theory is she transitioned to rob a cis woman of a gold medal she was entitled to?

One example of a trans woman winning a gold medal in the pacific games, isn’t the end of female sports.

Not a 'cis woman'.

A woman.

There is only one kind of woman.

But when you say "women", you include men, so this is just dishonesty and doublethink masked in Newspeak. And earlier on, you asked what the point was in having female athletes if men could beat them, so why do you suddenly care now?

Hepwo · 03/08/2024 19:36

So this is a Muslim woman about to become very rich without any word about the French hijab ban?
