To ask for help making an adult party bag

Hello
Having a big event this year. Not a wedding or birthday but a big celebration. 50 guests. I want to do each guest a party bag to take away. So far I have got the following ideas but I think it's a bit boring
Pic and mix in the colour scheme of the party
A mini homemade cake (my friend is a Baker so is doing these)
A small ornament connected to the event (think mini logo figure type thing)

I'm doing an individual card for each guest

What else can I put in?
I want it to be nice so can spend some money but not a huge amount
Any ideas?

A scratch card?

MiddleAgedDread · 02/08/2024 12:43

Do adults really need a party bag? I'd ditch the ornament, no one needs a bag of plastic tat!

A scratch card?

This could be a good idea

Yes I'm doing the bag

Those individual Lego figures are about a tenner each so that's 500 quid already. I wouldn't bother and upgrade the catering

Brokenpebbles · 02/08/2024 12:45

Flower/wild flower seeds? Tiny soaps. Night light candle - easy to make yourself.

Not sure about an ornament, will people keep them or will they likely be chucked in the bin?

CrapBucket · 02/08/2024 12:46

Kind of like stocking filler ideas then? Go for things that can be used up or passed on, that way even if someone doesn’t want theirs, it’s not wasteful, and it’s fun for the enthusiastic ones 😂

personally I would like a swag/party bag with
Mini booze bottle
fancy soap
scampi fries

I went to a hen do recently, and the party bags had little minature bottles of gin, with the hens' names on, which was really lovely. Plus a couple of paracetamol for the morning!

They are not specifically legal, just a little silly thing akin to that

Socks. Can never have too many socks. I've never met an adult disappointed to receive some new socks.

On a more serious note, depends how much you want to spend. Scratchers are a good idea. You can get custom made chocolate coins, pal of mine did this for her wedding because she knew people would rather eat their favours than have some random tat lying around with her wedding dates on it. Little bottles of bath stuff, Molton Brown Outlets sell bags of their mini gels and lotions for like £20. Could chuck one of those in each.

Sounds like fun!

I like a nice face or hair mask and some hair bobbles. Practical stuff I can actually use. Primark cosy 'sleep' socks.
A packet of seeds for the garden might also be a nice, cheap idea.
M&S do delicious canned cocktails for £2, I think it is.
Sweets and chocolates is a must, especially individually wrapped sweets so that you can split bags, or mini bags of Haribo.
Happy Birthday when it comes!

Seeds and candles are a great idea
The ornament is an in joke. It will go down well

Bath bombs? Some are really cute and nicely made.

Not what the OP asked.

Goslingsforlife · 02/08/2024 12:50

I wouldn't want a figure/ornament and can only imagine that most people wouldn't be fond of a dust catcher. I really think the bag is daft. Sorry.

HaveSomeIntrospect · 02/08/2024 12:50

I wouldn’t want a figurine. For me:

  • pick n mix
  • cake or cake pop
  • mini soap or candle
  • scratch card
  • personalised card/message

what a lovely idea

Haha this is funny.

as I guest I would prefer to see the money put to use else where.

more food available.

a free drink on arrival if you’re not having an open bar.

an extra bit of entertainment like a magician etc.

half the things you’ll shell out for in a party bag will end up in the bin.

It doesn't matter to me what you think of it. I'm doing it and want ideas from people who have received them before or done them before etc They are really common for things like hen parties etc

I think it’s a fabulous idea! I know you are hosting but it costs a lot of money to travel to a venue nowadays and people are busy, so it’s nice to have a little thank you for coming. It doesn’t need to be full of tat if you plan carefully. Hope all goes well with it crochetmonkey74

Grin With respect, it's really not up to you. Unless of course you're a paying guest, which I doubt.
Needmorelego · 02/08/2024 12:53

@Doggymummar where on earth are you buying Lego figures from that cost £10?
They are about £3.50 for new ones or if you bought a load bulk from eBay much cheaper.

Teeny tiny champagne miniature, three expensive chocolates, the cake and if possible a polaroid of them with you/the group taken on the night.
