Angela Carini is the incredibly brave Italian boxer who had her Olympic dream shattered in less than a minute after being punched in the face by Imane Khelif, a male competitor who was disqualified from the women’s World Championships last year because his testosterone levels were too high.
Everyone should be saying her name. Over and over and over again.

King Louis was denying Mowgli’s wolf identity when he sang “I wanna be a man, man cub”. What a bigot.

'i am a feminist and yet I don’t hate trans or intersex people.'
'Luckily there are lots of feminists who feel the same, even if they are too scared to speak on mumsnet .'

No one on this thread has said they 'hate trans or intersex people'. This is more hyperbole from you. In fact, it falls under the tactics of catastrophising and over exaggeration which are cognitive distortions used to attempt to convince others. It is emotionally manipulative.

If you have evidence to support your posts, please link your evidence.

calling out the hatred for people with vscs on this thread is not hyperbole, it’s as plain as day.
See the comment comparing people with VSCs to Mowgli in the jungle book.

what is hyperbole is calling two women , both registered female at birth (one of whom has a sex variation) voluntarily participating in a boxing match - an example of an woman being battered by a man on tv.

nolongersurprised · 01/08/2024 22:17

clearly this boxer IS androgen sensitive - has gone through a male puberty. I mean, we have eyes

They are a cheat. Quoted as saying don’t care, I just want to win. It’s despicable.

This wasn't Khalida who was quoted as saying this, it was her next opponent.

Scared to speak? What are you on about?

I don't hate trans or intersex* people. Most of us on here don't.

"I am a feminist and yet I don't hate trans or intersex people." This suggests you think that is the default position for feminists? You can't know many, then.

*Quoting your terminology here, but you should be saying DSD.

Edited

They probably just identify as feminists.

spannasaurus · 01/08/2024 22:18

No one compared people with VSDs to Mowgli

SidewaysOtter · 01/08/2024 22:19

I suspect that they can no longer ignore the shift in public and political opinion. They’re desperately hoping no one will notice the “BEEP BEEP BEEP” of a reversing ferret.

Tandora · 01/08/2024 22:19

SidewaysOtter · 01/08/2024 22:13

No one is “hating” anyone. Stating biological facts is not hate.

Those with XY chromosomes are male. Those with XX chromosomes are female. No one changes biological sex. Gender is a social construct. That is all there is to it.

This just simply isnt true. Look up women with CAIS on the nhs website .

Because a man punched a woman in the face.

Yes I am a feminist; because I believe that women are equal to men. I believe we live in a deeply sexist and misogynistic society that discriminates against women and privileges men, and condones and justifies male violence against women. I dedicate my personal and professional life to challenging the conditions that support male privilege wherever I see them.

I also support the rights and dignity of trans, sex variant and gender non conforming people of all types; I recognise that the biological and social aspects of sex and gender are diverse, varied and complex. I recognise fear of trans and sex variant people as rooted in homophobia and misogyny.

Discriminating against people with sex variations and trans people does not define feminism.

Why do refer to men as "male" here @Tandora .
But you have continually refused to refer to "women & girls" as females. Why do you obtuesly refuse to use the word female for the sake of clarity???
After all "women & girls" are biologically born females.

ForKeenDeer · 01/08/2024 22:20

This was on X but it summed up.
We know now that these two 'women' have XY chromosome's and that is someone who is male, was BORN male. They may have had female appearing genitalia but they have internal testes and are men. There are many 'women' like this in women's sport, because they are stronger than biological women and so do well. This is a man, and its really simple to solve. Lets forget genitalia and go back to a cheek swab once in life; then you compete in the category of your biological sex.

What do you think?

Tandora · 01/08/2024 22:08

Then why aren't you aware that the DSD community has asked for the word intersex not to be used because it is misleading, ignorant and offensive

the “community” of people with variations in sex characteristics is not a monolith. There are plenty of people who embrace the terminology of intersex and find the terminology of “DSD” deeply offensive. The terminology of DSD is self evidently problematic anyway due to its inclusion of the term “disorder”. I suggest you embrace the terminology of VSC which is more
widely used these days.

Your second point is ludicrous and devoid of meaning so I have nothing to say on that.

DSD = Differences in sex development.

I hope that calms your worries about it being stigmatised as a 'disorder'

You are not a spokesperson for the group of people with this medical condition, yet you seem to have the confidence to attempt to control the language.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 01/08/2024 22:21

WHOAH... I had to check it was the actual Guardian and not a fake one 😯

Last year both fighters were disqualified from the world championships, with the International Boxing Association (IBA) president, Umar Kremlev, saying that DNA tests had “proved they had XY chromosomes and were thus excluded”. XY is the combination of chromosomes in males, while XX is the combination in females.

Luckily there are lots of feminists who feel the same, even if they are too scared to speak on mumsnet .

Well shock though it may be, none of the feminists here hate trans or people suffering from DSDs either. But we know MRA arguments when we see them.

Again - Intersex is not a thing, and people with DSDs find the term offensive but you know that and continue to use it because it gives the impression of ambiguity of sex. Like there is some kind of middle ground 3rd sex or hermaphrodism - there is definitely not. There are two clearly defined sexes, male or female.

Mumsnet FWR is one of the most fabulous places on MN IMO!
The women (and men) are great over there, welcoming and happy to chat.

They will however robustly challenge wooly thinking, will ask for evidence to back up claims, and archive everything for posterity! - MRAs don't like that because once you get past the emotive pleas to be kind (to men), the evidence falls apart at the seams. Basically it is a bastion of evidence based, articulate women who are actual feminists.

I am so over the shouts of bigot and transphobe, I think a lot of people are. People understand that championing feminism and women's rights does not equate to trans hate and you just look increasingly daft when you make that non existent connection🙄Again, when you do make that non existent connection between actual feminism and trans hate it just shows you up as the MRA you so obviously are.

You can't shame us into giving up women's rights for the benefit of men, and I would highly recommend anyone who hasn't ventured into FWR (or the naughty corner as it has been dubbed) to go have a read for themselves.

We reserve the right to be bloody angry at how far and how fast people like you have managed to erode actual female rights however, but you don't get to tone police us either. MNHQ are hot on the delete button for anyone who oversteps the line, but another great thing about FWR and the feminists here is that we tend to let all but the most egregious abuse from MRAs stand over there - this is very useful (as are your posts) in Operation Let Them Speak, which allows MRAs to spout their utter twaddle (thank you Jane!) where all future readers can see it.

You still haven't answered my earlier questions.

It isn't hate to not want to see biological men battering women classed as 'sport'. The sadists cheering this on are the ones coming across as hateful.

I don't hate trans or intersex people. In fact someone I love dearly sees themselves as trans.

To paraphrase

Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But I won't accept anyone that forces women to accept men in women's sports/spaces.

people with DSDs find the term offensive

stop saying this. It’s just more simply factually untrue statements. “People with DSD” as you call them do not all have one brain and many people with variations in sex characteristics embrace the terminology of intersex. Please see previous post
