Angela Carini is the incredibly brave Italian boxer who had her Olympic dream shattered in less than a minute after being punched in the face by Imane Khelif, a male competitor who was disqualified from the women’s World Championships last year because his testosterone levels were too high.
Everyone should be saying her name. Over and over and over again.

Then why aren't you aware that the DSD community has asked for the word intersex not to be used because it is misleading, ignorant and offensive? And why do you promote male supremacism ideology that literally causes women harm and injury?

Then why aren't you aware that the DSD community has asked for the word intersex not to be used because it is misleading, ignorant and offensive

the “community” of people with variations in sex characteristics is not a monolith. There are plenty of people who embrace the terminology of intersex and find the terminology of “DSD” deeply offensive. The terminology of DSD is self evidently problematic anyway due to its inclusion of the term “disorder”. I suggest you embrace the terminology of VSC which is more
widely used these days.

Your second point is ludicrous and devoid of meaning so I have nothing to say on that.

Bex5490 · 01/08/2024 22:08

Genuine question - can having polycystic ovaries make you produce enough testosterone to have xy chromosomes?

Tandora · 01/08/2024 22:08

viques · 01/08/2024 22:01

If you have Y chromosomes then by definition you are a man.

Not true.
please see the thread on CAIS.

It's like Mowgli was brought up as a wolf but, you know, wasn't one.

Oh my god.

MUMSNET HQ. Are you going to let this stand!?

I don’t even know what the word is for hatred of people with variations in sex characteristics 😢.

i am a feminist and yet I don’t hate trans or intersex people.
Luckily there are lots of feminists who feel the same, even if they are too scared to speak on mumsnet .

No one on this thread has said they 'hate trans or intersex people'. This is more hyperbole from you. In fact, it falls under the tactics of catastrophising and over exaggeration which are cognitive distortions used to attempt to convince others. It is emotionally manipulative.

If you have evidence to support your posts, please link your evidence.

There are only 2 biological sexes. Every single human being on the planet can be categorized based on having male or female gametes. The diversity and variety you speak of is a social phenomenon and a social one only.

I respect anyone and everyone's right to identify, dress, live as they want. But the scientific truth remains that their bodies are shaped by the gamete they were born with.

Those born as biological females deserve to partake in sports in a safe and fair manner. Denying them this right and putting them at risk for the sake of inclusion is anti feminist.

Edited

The diversity and variety you speak of is a social phenomenon and a social one only

this is not true.

The consensus is clear to anyone who has paid attention to what they say and isn't simply exploiting their existence to argue that sex doesn't exist (and that they therefore aren't really men or women - very offensive and untrue) or to advocate for men in women's changing rooms or boxing rings and call it feminism.

Devoid of meaning is something you would know about. Since words mean whatever you want them to mean, how do you even conceptualise anything at all?

No one is “hating” anyone. Stating biological facts is not hate.

Those with XY chromosomes are male. Those with XX chromosomes are female. No one changes biological sex. Gender is a social construct. That is all there is to it.

It's not misogyny. We can rule that word out because it's taken.

educate yourself.

This is the mantra of trans activists when faced with women who argue back.

To which I reply, "I have educated myself, that's why I'm a terf now."

Reading this and other threads I am so relieved that the UK is not in the embarrassing position that we were so nearly pushed into of having a male cyclist representing our country in Paris racing in the womens categories. It was grassroots anger, and the alleged refusal by a number of the UKs elite women cyclists to race against men, that made the UKs cycling authority change their position on biological men racing in womens cycling.

I am sorry that for Angela this decision wasn’t carried across all sports. Maybe by 2028 we will get it right.

Scared to speak? What are you on about?

I don't hate trans or intersex* people. Most of us on here don't.

"I am a feminist and yet I don't hate trans or intersex people." This suggests you think that is the default position for feminists? You can't know many, then.

*Quoting your terminology here, but you should be saying DSD.

NiceNiche · 01/08/2024 22:16

I’ve emailed the IOC, saying that I never want to see a match of that nature again Literally IOC sponsored VAWG.

it s easy to find, go to IOC a website and ‘contact us’.

if everyone in here sends an email, that would be a great start.

CakeAtFour · 01/08/2024 22:16

’You don’t agree with me, are making logical arguments against my viewpoint and I’ve run out of anything sensible to respond with’ = HATE CRIME!

My bingo card is nearly full, now.
