Angela Carini is the incredibly brave Italian boxer who had her Olympic dream shattered in less than a minute after being punched in the face by Imane Khelif, a male competitor who was disqualified from the women’s World Championships last year because his testosterone levels were too high.
Everyone should be saying her name. Over and over and over again.

And you don't get to define feminism through your lens of male supremacism.

In fact, your disguise looks like this...

i am a feminist and yet I don’t hate trans or intersex people.
Luckily there are lots of feminists who feel the same, even if they are too scared to speak on mumsnet .

CakeAtFour · 01/08/2024 22:00

The lengths someone will go to to justify what happened in the ring today. What happened to a WOMAN, Angela Carini. That certainly isn’t feminism.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/08/2024 22:01

-In fact, your disguise looks like this...

I don't think people really believe this stuff, they just enjoy seeing how far they can push it. It's always good to bear that in mind.

No it doesn’t “make” a person a woman, but there are women who have XY chromosomes.

If you have Y chromosomes then by definition you are a man.

Runningupthecurtains · 01/08/2024 22:01

It must be devastating to be diagnosed with a DSD, especially if this comes when you have spent years believing you are the opposite sex and my heart go out to anyone that has been through this.
It must be devastating to be diagnosed with cancer or rheumatoid arthritis or a hundred other conditions.

If you are excelling at sport there are many diagnoses that can signal the end of your career and every single one of them be it injury or illness must be devastating but the athletes facing those diagnosis have to come to terms with the loss of their sport, and for those with male DSDs they have the option to continue in the male category, something that someone with MND or leukemia doesn't have.

I’m sorry, this person isn’t trans though? She was registered as female at birth, brought up as female? She has a disorder of sex development, certainly, but hasn’t undergone a full male puberty. She isn’t a man. She has never been a man.

surely all this case shows is that gender isn’t a simple and cut-and-dried as some would like to think?

It's like Mowgli was brought up as a wolf but, you know, wasn't one.

Imane Khelif Is a CIS woman

Youre Wrong John C Mcginley GIF

That CIS nonsense can get in the bin. You are either male or female, a man or a woman.

Also you're wrong, Imane Khelif is male.

Yes I am a feminist; because I believe that women are equal to men. I believe we live in a deeply sexist and misogynistic society that discriminates against women and privileges men, and condones and justifies male violence against women. I dedicate my personal and professional life to challenging the conditions that support male privilege wherever I see them.

I also support the rights and dignity of trans, sex variant and gender non conforming people of all types; I recognise that the biological and social aspects of sex and gender are diverse, varied and complex. I recognise fear of trans and sex variant people as rooted in homophobia and misogyny.

Discriminating against people with sex variations and trans people does not define feminism.

Edited

There are only 2 biological sexes. Every single human being on the planet can be categorized based on having male or female gametes. The diversity and variety you speak of is a social phenomenon and a social one only.

I respect anyone and everyone's right to identify, dress, live as they want. But the scientific truth remains that their bodies are shaped by the gamete they were born with.

Those born as biological females deserve to partake in sports in a safe and fair manner. Denying them this right and putting them at risk for the sake of inclusion is anti feminist.

Nobody hates anybody. I don’t hate these boxers. I just do not believe they have any place in women’s boxing.

Hate, ‘phobia’….so much hyperbole. Stick to the matter at hand. It’s not hard.

Pluvia · 01/08/2024 22:02

More 'be kind' fauxgressive virtue-signalling shite. What about the gross homophobia and misogyny inherent in trans ideology? Are you saying that lesbians who refuse to include men who identify as women in their women-only events are misogynistic and homophobic? There are some things in life, like women's sport, where sex matters.

XY chromosomes, by definition, make somebody male. There ain’t no way around that, regardless of how much you might wish there were.

Bollocks. Literally. XY chromosomes = male.

Then why aren't you aware that the DSD community has asked for the word intersex not to be used because it is misleading, ignorant and offensive? And why do you promote male supremacism ideology that literally causes women harm and injury?

Everyone should be saying her name. Over and over and over again.

Everyone should be writing to every editor who promotes this ideology. Without them none of this could or would happen.

BBC, Guardian, Independent, NYT , WAPO etc

I don't hate trans people or people with DSDs (not intersex - there is no such thing) but only trans men and people with female DSDs are the focus as feminism because trans women and people with male DSDs are men and feminism isn't about men.

Having XY chromosomes does not make a person a man. See my thread about CAIS.

These male boxers are male athletes that have been tested and shown to have male pubertal advantage. Your introduction of people with CAIS is therefore irrelevant to this thread and you are now leveraging their medical condition for your own political agenda.

And you call people who disagree with you fascist. I think that you don't have that moral superiority that you seem to think you have with all your name calling.

Princess Anne is a member of the IOC. Has she made a statement on the matter yet I wonder?

Time to call them all out not just her.

This is the mantra of trans activists when faced with women who argue back.

littlbrowndog · 01/08/2024 22:07

Tandora getting so much attention

anyway. What can I say.

men should not be fighting women on live tv and with the permission of IOC.

it’s called male violence against woman as the UN woman said.

male violence and in full sight of everyone in the world

It must be devastating to be diagnosed with a DSD, especially if this comes when you have spent years believing you are the opposite sex and my heart go out to anyone that has been through this

Luckily, with non invasive genetic testing and ever-improving antenatal imaging boys erroneously thought to be girls then unexpectedly androgenising at puberty (PAIS, 5-alpha reductase deficiency, like Semenya) should become less common.
