Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics - BBC Sport

They are both biological males. Its to IOC, International Olympic committee. There will be a protest and i know another female Irish boxer has pulled out but surely this cant stand. The women could be seriously injured.

Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics

Two athletes are cleared to compete at the women's boxing at the Paris Olympics, having been disqualified from last year's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.

spiting angry vitriol at people with variations in sex characteristics

The ONLY anger has been directed at male ones who punch women.

your form of sexual fascism has nothing to do with biology. you are on this thread spiting angry vitriol at people with variations in sex characteristics, precisely because you have an exceptionally primitive understanding of the biology of sex development,

I'm starting to think this person is so departed from any semblance of reality that it's actually unfair to engage with them. It's more mismatched than the Olympic boxing ring.

Sex changes are impossible, no surgeon can give you a new set of chromosomes.

We know that’s not true. Because when Professor Robert Winston, probably the world’s leading expert in reproductive medicine, said it’s physically impossible to change sex, and every cell in our bodies is encoded with our sex, a student in the audience told him that he was out of date.

QED.

I've always been slightly wary of the TERF mob but this is an outrage and hopefully will mark a turning point in biological males being banned from women's sport.

Welcome to the terf mob, then.

This is absolutely awful but if there is even a tint glimmer of a silver lining here its that the travesty that is men competeing against women in contact sports is in the spotlight for the whole world to see

Couple that with the bizarre, inappropriate & unnecessary carry on of the Olympic ceremony. I think the world has awoken with a bolt, all this on the global stage is just what is needed.
However it is tragic that Angela Carini has had to suffer a broken nose at the hands of a competitor with XY chromosomes.

Good grief. They know more than Lord Winston, who's entire career has been about reproductive medicine. Of course

I think the match, and the lamentable position of the IoC, was disgusting. But getting a broken nose in boxing can happen female on female. Probably not as badly as a male hit on a female nose, nor as swiftly done as it was in this round, but it does happen and female boxers know it can.

Yeah,I guess we can all go home now.

Angry vitriol? You’re quiet the story teller aren’t you? Do you understand that people with DSDs are still male or female?

Theres nothing primitive about biology or nature, it’s more powerful than your angry little tantrums and lies will ever be.

Why do you refuse to answer my question about the transman if you’re so sure of your ideology being right?

Needanewname42 · 01/08/2024 14:56

Seriously you don't think that guy looks like a guy?
The IBA have banned both these men from women's competition. Yet the Olympic Committee allowed them based on their passports.

Wtf?

Back in the day females had to prove they were females, walk into a room, drop their pants. In front of a panel of doctors (nice)

Then blood tests came along.

Now they don't seem to bother checking.

Female athletes still need to "drop their pants" every time they take a dope test - the technician has to observe the stream of urine leaving the athlete's body.

In the case of these two athletes, who have a male-type DSD, they may have male, female, or indeterminate external genitalia, but it's completely irrelevant what their genitals look like, and frankly should not be up for discussion. They have a Y chromosome, which is what counts.

Quite. Arrogance, righteousness and incredible lies upon lies. If the lies crumble, they would have to face up to what they have enabled.

Literal blood on the IOC's hands today.

ALL women and girls

Can I ask, do some of ALL those women have penises? In which case you support women and Transwomen. And that's okay. However, in the course of your supporting ALL women, if you came across a situation where a woman and a woman with a penis were at odds, which side would you take? For example, take the female changing room situation, would you support the person with a penis using the female changing room, or would you support the woman who says they don't want to share?

good thread here: [snippet] the athlete in question has a condition like Caster Semenya. That condition is a male, 46XY DSD: 5alpha Reductase Deficiency. We have known that this is the condition, since the World Athletics regulations ...
... and the testing of those regulations in the Court of Arbitration of Sport in 2019. [snippet]

More hyperbole.

'exceptionally primitive understanding of the biology of sex development' seems to now be the description of understanding that well established science has shown that a female person is a person with the body formed around the production of large gametes, regardless of whether this production is happening, has happened or will happen.

There is no third sex. No human has produced both gametes. And with modern techniques it is possible to categorise every human on this planet using a series of parameters. Still no third sex, either as a stand alone sex or an 'inbetween' sex.

Posters who are trying to present a case that there is anything other than this as a categorisation, really should start to produce some evidence. Because if there is anything other than this, that is indeed a world changing discovery.

There is no understanding of the biology of sex development other than this, except for those which are based in philosophical theories and beliefs and obviously without evidence, since you have yet to link any up.

Helleofabore · 01/08/2024 15:49

"you are on this thread spiting angry vitriol at people"

Says the poster who posted this.

"All this is is the usual angry transphobic mumsnet mob , the sex fascists, flat-terfers, now coming after people with variations in sex characteristics. Next they’ll be having a go at women with PCOS perhaps"

and

"I have been ludicrously by censored by mumsnet HQ, so I’ll say it again, differently."

"This thread is populated by the usual individuals, driven by transphobia and transphobic ideologies , now coming after people with variations in sex characteristics. (These are the very same “gender criticals” who try to shut down any mention of people with variations in sex characteristics when they assert their monopoly on definitions of sex and gender on threads about trans issues. Tracks) perhaps next they will be coming after women with PCOS,"

MellersSmellers · 01/08/2024 15:49

Hang on, hang on...."They are both biological males" - really?
We don't know what "gender eligibility tests" they failed yet. It may be testosterone levels.

Firethehorse · 01/08/2024 15:49

Bearbookagainandagain · 01/08/2024 10:43

Unfair yes, totally. "Scared for her" is a bit dramatic, but I guess scaremongering is really the aim of this post.

In any sport it is an undeniable advantage to be biologically male - clearly shown by the world record differences etc.
Sports would not be split by gender otherwise but they are.
To call this scaremongering is another blow to women - this time quite literally.
In a boxing ring physical damage will be inflicted.
It is unfair for women to be told to be a punchbag in order to compete.

Utterly irrelevant, these things happen in a FAIR fight and a competitor would accept this. It's different being thumped in the face by a man.
