Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics - BBC Sport

They are both biological males. Its to IOC, International Olympic committee. There will be a protest and i know another female Irish boxer has pulled out but surely this cant stand. The women could be seriously injured.

Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics

Two athletes are cleared to compete at the women's boxing at the Paris Olympics, having been disqualified from last year's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.

So in a world where male violence against women and girls is described as an epidemic, the IOC is green-lighting 2 men to beat up women.

If this travesty goes ahead, I hope it is given the widest possible coverage. Let the whole world see just what women have been talking about.

And of course the IOC are demanding that these men be referred to, and reported, as being female.

They are MEN.
They are CHEATS.

But "inclusivity" and "men's demands" and "women just shut the fuck up".

bombastix · 01/08/2024 10:41

Yes it’s repugnant.

GinAndBeerIt · 01/08/2024 10:35

I don't understand why the woman is even entering into the competition with him.
If the biological women all said no, we're not playing with a man on the team, or against a man then the officials would have to ban men.
While ever the biological women allow it, then it will continue unfortunately.
The real question for me is....what sort of bloke would hit a woman, sport or not, gender change or not.

Edited

its happened, they just give the medals to the men. This has been going on for years in other sports, world women's cycling top three just won and are all men. This is getting attention because its dangerous to the woman as its boxing.

Why are men being allowed to compete against women?!

Because if they say they’re a women we are all magically supposed to believe it. Despite all biological and factual evidence to the contrary.

Reading that article, it's not clear what the background of these people are. Were they born male/are boliologically male or is there something else that causes unusually high testosterone? I do think there's a distinction.

I am also confused by the article and no wiser for Googling further. There seems to be queries around both these participants, although visually one obviously seems a bigger problem.

Edit: Oh right, am with it now. It's not that they're fighting each other, they are both fighting in different competitions as women. I misunderstood entirely.

Comedycook · 01/08/2024 10:42

This makes me feel physically sick

HappierTimesAhead · 01/08/2024 10:43

Will any of you watch? It feels very wrong to watch but at the same time I want to know if they are okay? I'm not sure about the ethics of watching.

Bearbookagainandagain · 01/08/2024 10:43

Unfair yes, totally. "Scared for her" is a bit dramatic, but I guess scaremongering is really the aim of this post.

montysma1 · 01/08/2024 10:45

This is the point where every woman in the Olympics in every sport, pulls out of competition.
Right now. In the middle of the games. See them collapse.
The IOC U-turn

This is the moment when women hold the power.

DungareesAndTrombones · 01/08/2024 10:46

Cheating fucking bastards who can't compete against men so cheat and go against women who have trained hard for years and years. I don't understand anyone who would have the mindset that this is ok. I wouldn't go into a boxing match against my skinny 14 year old DS as he would bray me. Absolutely sickening.

Have you read the quote from a woman who has been in the ring with one of these men? She was relieved to make it okay. How would you feel, if not scared, getting in the ring with a man whose punches could kill you?

There are reporting restrictions on journalists. They know they are men but have to be careful with their language. Look out for phrases like, 'gender test failure, xy chromosones, previously banned from competing with women'. Hell of a trail of breadcrumbs there.

To be fair, most sports at international level have policies that prevent this. Don't get me started on lower levels, but men cannot compete in women's competition in the olympics in swimming, cycling, athletes (for example).

Boxing is in an odd position, because their international governing body has been suspended (?) or at least is not being recognised by the IOC. No one is in charge.

The IOC themselves did not get involved in this debate, presumably because they are too cowardly. They passed the buck of decision making to the governing bodies for each sport.

Just men.

Who used the legal process to change their passports to female.

That's all folks. Just men beating up women on the international stage.

DEI till you die. Or something.

Women sacrifice their one opportunity in 4 years, possibly a lifetime for many of them? That's your answer?

emeraldsarebest · 01/08/2024 10:47

I think scared for her is a completely legitimate emotion. A male punch force is 162% stronger than that of a female. This woman is at risk of catastrophic injury.

I hardly think that is scaremongering. Completely wrong and the IOC is shameful letting this blatant cheating of pathetic mediocre men happen.

There's too much at stake. These women have worked their whole lives to get here. It's not their fault that the IOC is failing them so badly.

Edingril · 01/08/2024 10:49

Maybe you should report it to the Olympics committee incase they have no idea?

Heavyboom · 01/08/2024 10:47

Because the IOC have slapped a load of restrictions on reporting to make sure they can't.

They were hoping that if journalists couldn't report clearly on it, the rest of us wouldn't notice.

Its boxing, we are used to seeing women beaten in cycling and swimming at the elite level by men. That's unfairness. Boxing is different as its a combat sport. Its dangerous for men to box each other but for a woman to box a man. This is crazy. I'm not scare mongering, it is scary.

I’m a bit confused- the title in the OP says they are both biological males?
