Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics - BBC Sport

They are both biological males. Its to IOC, International Olympic committee. There will be a protest and i know another female Irish boxer has pulled out but surely this cant stand. The women could be seriously injured.

Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting

Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics

Two athletes are cleared to compete at the women's boxing at the Paris Olympics, having been disqualified from last year's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.

There are reporting restrictions on journalists. They know they are men but have to be careful with their language. Look out for phrases like, 'gender test failure, xy chromosones, previously banned from competing with women'. Hell of a trail of breadcrumbs there.

How can it not be Ok to say, factually, X was male at birth?

Helleofabore · 01/08/2024 10:50

Edingril · 01/08/2024 10:49

Maybe you should report it to the Olympics committee incase they have no idea?

They are fully supportive of these two male athletes competing in the female category.

I’m a bit confused- the title in the OP says they are both biological males?

They are

Bearbookagainandagain · 01/08/2024 10:43

Unfair yes, totally. "Scared for her" is a bit dramatic, but I guess scaremongering is really the aim of this post.

When you yourself agree it is unfair, would you mind explaining your reasoning around dismissing other women's concerns about a man boxing a woman as "scaremongering"?

I would say it is "awareness raising". Especially necessary as in a somewhat Orwellian twist, IOC have attempted to ban media references to all athletes' sex and gender identity.

That's against the reporting guidelines. Journalists are having to be super nuanced to make sure their reporting isn't taken down.

Yes, they are, or at least they have both failed gender tests, but they're both entered in the women's boxing. They're not fighting each other.

G123456789 · 01/08/2024 10:51

I listen to talksport...not famed as a Bastian of female rights, but everyone of their boxing experts, the presenters, the callers are against this. It's one thing men and women competing in equestrian events, but I can assure you that as biological males these people are a real threat to the safety of the other boxers. I've been watching boxing both ringside and on tv for almost 50 years and I have never seen such miss matches. It's a disgrace

GinAndBeerIt · 01/08/2024 10:51

I don't want to come across as victim blaming, that certainly isn't my intention.
I'm saying that the women should rise together and say enough is enough.
As someone up thread said, they are being cheated and robbed. How is that a fair competition?
As someone else said, they have trained damned hard for the event that they're competing in, how is it fair for them to lose out on their dream for a man?
This is why I say that the biological women should say nope, not competing until you remove the men, not because I'm victim blaming.
Again I ask, what sort of man would willingly punch a woman, sport or not.
Most decent men would refuse to punch a woman, regardless of the reason for doing so.
Yet sickeningly, he's being cheered on to do just that.

montysma1 · 01/08/2024 10:52

@TheKeatingFive She doesn't have a career.
No sports woman required to compete against men has a career because they can never win. Careers in sport, making money, relies on being on the podium.

Going ahead isn't protecting her career, her career is gone whilst men are in women's sport.

Every woman in the games needs to pull out now in solidarity. Whilst they accept this and don't make a stand, it will continue.
The people pushing this agenda won't just stop because they think better of it.
We have to make them stop by women refusing to take part in travesty competitions.

youve987456 · 01/08/2024 10:52

Anyone know the history of these two? The article says they failed a testosterone test. It doesn't say anywhere they were born with a penis and testicles so I'm trying to understand there background and if they are actually trans?

Polyp0 · 01/08/2024 10:53

GinAndBeerIt · 01/08/2024 10:35

I don't understand why the woman is even entering into the competition with him.
If the biological women all said no, we're not playing with a man on the team, or against a man then the officials would have to ban men.
While ever the biological women allow it, then it will continue unfortunately.
The real question for me is....what sort of bloke would hit a woman, sport or not, gender change or not.

Edited

You make it sound like you think it’s the fault of the women.

GinAndBeerIt · 01/08/2024 10:53

@Polyp0 That certainly isn't my intention as I explained in another post.

But why?

Because this is the world we live in now. We couldn't be hurting the menz feelings by telling the truth, very transphobic and bigoted to suggest that.

If this is news to you, welcome to the party ladies. This will peak so many

Misthios · 01/08/2024 10:55

Heavyboom · 01/08/2024 10:40

Reading that article, it's not clear what the background of these people are. Were they born male/are boliologically male or is there something else that causes unusually high testosterone? I do think there's a distinction.

I think they have differences of sexual development - DSD. They are not men who have decided they want to be women. They are people who were born with ambiguous sex characteristics and raised as girls. Then at a later stage it was discovered that their genetic make-up was male - usually this is picked up when the "girl" hits puberty, doesn't have periods or grow breasts but shoots up and gets very broad.

These two boxers have XY chromosomes. They are male. They should not be competing with women. They fall into the same category as Caster Semenya. Not all parts of hte world have advanced medical facilities where this would have been picked up shortly after birth and the family given guidance and counselling to deal with the issues. However, these two individuals DO know now that they are biologically male, and still want to compete against women. That is very very wrong.

OneNewUser · 01/08/2024 10:56

From an admittedly quick google it is not at all clear whether they are intersex, biologically female with high testosterone levels (really difficult - definite advantage but should we penalise women for having a medical condition?) or transgender women. Failing a testosterone test does not automatically mean someone is biologically male. It’s not clear cut at all, so starting this thread calling them ‘men’ is also starting from a specific viewpoint…

LittleSparklyStar · 01/08/2024 10:32

Why are men being allowed to compete against women?!

Because society thinks women are worthless.

women are fighting so hard and so long to retain women's sports. One possibility is that men could come together and stop trying to take over women's sports. Imagine that as a solution. Men fixing themselves and taking responsibility for their behaviour.

The other thread on this links to a statement by the original body that ordered the tests at Tokyo (this body is not currently in charge of regulating Olympic boxing as discredited for different reasons). They said it wasn't a testosterone test but two separate tests which confirmed neither athlete eligible for women's competition. They won't say which tests - possibly for data protection rules as would be revealing medical information or something?

Have you somehow missed what happens to women when they speak up against trans activism?

FarmFlowers · 01/08/2024 10:58

Every woman should withdraw from the whole bloody thing and let them suck the bones out of that.

GinAndBeerIt · 01/08/2024 10:58

@ilovemoney unfortunately, they're not going to do that, hence women have to make a stand.

The international boxing association said Khelif has XY chromosomes.

Obviously that could be something someone is unaware of as a child (like Caster Semenya I believe), rather than someone being a transwoman.
