toddler eaten contents of herb rack - I think this is harmless?

No spices have been eaten, which would be a bit different. They have eaten rosemary, thyme and sage - I don't think there is anything to worry about there, is there? Not my toddler! Not my house!

My desktop Windows 11 PC doesn't have wi-fi either, the computer uses an Ethernet lead to the router, and it has WhatsApp running on it. Very handy actually. Why does everybody think internet always uses wi-fi?

Edited

I don't think they do, I think in this one specific case the OP meant WiFi rather than internet.

Has anyone suggested her Going to Scarborough Fair?

Glad they're okay. My sister ate shoe polish because it smelt nice once.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 28/07/2024 20:00

Their poo will smell like pizza 🤣

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 28/07/2024 20:02

I can't stop singing Scarborough Fair in my head now.

thank you @alloweraoway
good luck for smooth recovery

BobbyBiscuits · 28/07/2024 20:07

I used to adore tipping the jar of poppy seeds into my mouth and crunching them when I was a little kid?! Apparently if you eat loads of poppy seeds it can make you test positive for heroin?! Bizarre. They wouldn't have eaten that much as it's just so dry. But all those herbs are fine but they might get constipated?

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 20:09

Do you really believe that a toddler ate large quantities of dried herbs? Or that the OP is the only person on the planet

They were fresh.@DaniMontyRae

Fresh from the spice rack?

Tezza1 · 28/07/2024 20:15

@Clingfilm Thank you. That was my first thought.

Now I have a Simon and Garfunkel ear worm - actually not a bad thing to have.

That is what I am asking, lots of herbs and spices (well, spices in particular) ARE toxic in high quantities, that is why I want to double check these are OK, and see if anyone knows anything specific.

So, lots of fresh herbs and spices strewn around a toddler during a house move?

She has no internet. She posted on whatsapp and asked us all in the group to check if we could, any way we could. She thinks it is ok, but is not completely sure.

What?

Then she needs to speak to a doctor

no spices, no. I dont think. He just got hold of the box with the fresh herbs in that normaly lives at the bottom of the fridge

Gymnopedie · 28/07/2024 20:19

They were fresh leaves, from the box that was going to go into the fridge, not dried in jars, which he probably wouldn't have been able to open,

But you said he ate the contents of the herb rack. That, to everyone on here, indicated dried herbs. You also said at least he didn't eat the spices. Is your friend growing those too?

Yeah I think Angela rippon did

If you haven't done so, call 111, or better still, a poison control center to ask. (sorry, not in the UK, so I don't have a resource link) I wouldn't feel comfortable unless I heard it's okay from a professional.

Not to worry you, and not the same herbs, but I know of a child who drank a bottle of peppermint extract and went into anaphylactic shock.

What in a rack in the fridge??

How annoying for you @Gymnopedie

Yes peppermint would be my concern

😂 just laughing at the hilarity that OP thinks you don’t need internet to use WhatsApp…

While it is ridiculous, my 12 year old also thinks this - he is constantly confused why, when he has switched off mobile data (his is limited) and is out with no access to wifi, I don't then reply to his whatsapps. I've shown him the ticks and stuff and then the next time he just whatsapps me again. So perhaps OP is just very young and never had to learn that there are different ways to access the internet (because wifi has always been there, they just think it's synonymous with the internet... whereas when I were a lass we were told off for using internet and world wide web interchangably...the WWW runs on internet protocols, it is not the whole internet etc.)

My nephew got into the store cupboard when he was a toddler. My sister found him licking a bar of soap and swigging from a bottle of Tabasco sauce! He was fine and is now 6' 2" and a father!
