toddler eaten contents of herb rack - I think this is harmless?

No spices have been eaten, which would be a bit different. They have eaten rosemary, thyme and sage - I don't think there is anything to worry about there, is there? Not my toddler! Not my house!

I'm guessing the OP means her friend doesn't have wi-fi.

Maybe I do, I dont know, but thank you - not that that is the point, anyway

No you dont, I turn off the internet on my phone to use whattsapp.

Anyway, the situation is that a mother on moving day with no electricity and no internet has used whats app and data to try and find out if any of these herbs are worrying, as her toddler has eaten them.

If you have an answer, to the actual question, I would be grateful. As far as I can see, googling ,the answer is no, nothing to worry about. But if anyone has any actual personal knowledge, I would be grateful

Do you mean you disconnect from WiFi? You know that just means you're using mobile data, right?

ToniGreen · 28/07/2024 17:28

Isittimeformynapyet · 28/07/2024 17:27

I'm sure it would be impossible to swallow a teaspoon of dried herbs without washing it down with a glass of water, let alone several jar's worth.

I'm going to say there's nothing to worry about because it didn't happen.

Its all a load of bollocks.

Ive seen the cinnamon challenge on FB, probably inspired by that.

alloweraoway · 28/07/2024 17:28

Ok, I mean wifi - I am going to recommend A and E, as I can't find anyone who knows anything that I could DM

Surely you'd call 111 if your toddler had indeed ingested that amount of dried herbs... Of all the forbidden things to try and eat, really 🤦🏼😆

Megifer · 28/07/2024 17:29

She should use the device she's whatsapping from to look on the Internet and make her own judgement op.

Little known fact but trolls eat sage and thyme.

WhereIsTheHare · 28/07/2024 17:29

I’ve given you two alternatives which aren’t A&E - and will be quicker and less problematic when someone is moving house. It would mean understanding how to use a phone though, which neither of you seem very confident about.

Why would you recommend a and e?

Willyoushutthefrontdoor · 28/07/2024 17:30

You may mean she has no WiFi? Doesnt whatsapp use data so her phone may still use the Internet so she's using her allowance rather than wifi maybe? Though I could be completely wrong 😬🤣
Anyway
it sounds like it should be OK with some fluids in them as cant see it being an excessive amount eaten? Strange kid thinking herbs are tasty lol.

FictionalCharacter · 28/07/2024 17:30

alloweraoway · 28/07/2024 17:23

I dont know why all these posts! I certainly use whatsapp all the time without internet. In fact I turn off the internet on my phone to use it at work, as it doesn't work very well on the work internet.

You mean you turn off WiFi. Your phone then uses the Internet via mobile data.

These dried herbs won't have hurt the toddler. They're food, sold as food with no warnings on the packaging, and even a whole jar is only a few grams. The mother is being rather silly though, asking people if they're toxic when she doesn't even know which herbs he's eaten.

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 17:31

God alive ! Get over the wAp internet thing. What OP means is this busy woman ( she's in throws of moving ) doesn't want to be sat on the internet waiting for an answer. She's got shit to do!

Just look at this thread too see what can happen🙄

DumbassHamsterSitterPerson · 28/07/2024 17:31

Google says "too much" rosemary can cause stomach issues. No idea how much is too much though.

Clingfilm · 28/07/2024 17:32

Give them a spoon of parsley for good measure and take them to Scarborough Fair?

It is the point. She could have googled herself using the data she is using to WhatsApp. Anyway, as several of us have said, it won’t have happened. Try and swallow even a teaspoon of one of those dried herbs.

Iasonnas · 28/07/2024 17:32

"I dont really care, what any of you think, would just like an answer to the question. Are any of these herbs dangerous? Rosemary thyme, sage."

Deadly. A&E NOW

If you've turned off mobile data, then you're using WiFi. If you havr neither, you'll be sending messages but they won't go anywhere and you won't be receiving new messages.

Jadedbuthappy82 · 28/07/2024 17:33

Just stop for a minute and imagine yourself trying to physically make your way through several jars of dry herbs. I mean come on. What was the baby washing it all down with, pints and pints of liquid? On what planet would anyone even be able to do this.

And why a&e? Ring 111 unless any symptoms surely. Hope you're all not moving near me.

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 17:34

If YOU found your toddler surrounded by the herb jars, some of them smeared around his mouth, YES YOU WOULD CHECK .
Posters on here are a nightmare.

fitzwilliamdarcy · 28/07/2024 17:35

Yeah but why would you check on MUMSNET and not, I don’t know, the well-known health service 111?

Megifer · 28/07/2024 17:36

Could she sit the kid-bouquet-garni in a bath and see if any savoury flavour leeches into the water? Might give an idea how much was eaten?
