No spices have been eaten, which would be a bit different. They have eaten rosemary, thyme and sage - I don't think there is anything to worry about there, is there? Not my toddler! Not my house!

I dont know why all these posts! I certainly use whatsapp all the time without internet. In fact I turn off the internet on my phone to use it at work, as it doesn't work very well on the work internet.

Mobile data!
if you turn off your WiFi on your phone then you’re using mobile data!

im sure children will be ok, just give plenty to drink

Elphamouche · 28/07/2024 21:22

😂😂😂 fuck me. You turn off WiFi for mobile data. WhatsApp does NOT work without internet

Nothing works without internet... 😂

No you dont, I turn off the internet on my phone to use whattsapp.

Anyway, the situation is that a mother on moving day with no electricity and no internet has used whats app and data to try and find out if any of these herbs are worrying, as her toddler has eaten them.

If you have an answer, to the actual question, I would be grateful. As far as I can see, googling ,the answer is no, nothing to worry about. But if anyone has any actual personal knowledge, I would be grateful

Data is Internet.

I used to adore tipping the jar of poppy seeds into my mouth and crunching them when I was a little kid?! Apparently if you eat loads of poppy seeds it can make you test positive for heroin?! Bizarre. They wouldn't have eaten that much as it's just so dry. But all those herbs are fine but they might get constipated?

Edited

What's so bizarre about testing positive for heroin after eating the seeds of a plant whose pods are used as a source of heroin?

I live rurally and when we moved and had no WiFi, I barely had a phone signal. I was able to WhatsApp as the messages eventually sent or came through, but I was unable to use any other aspect of the Internet and certainly couldn't Google anything. What's so difficult to understand about that?

OP has already said it's moving day, which generally means no WiFi and being extremely busy.

Data doesn't require as much of a signal as voice.

But OP wasn't talking about poor phone signal therefore limited internet access using mobile data, she was saying that WhatsApp doesn't use the internet. To those of us who used to have PAYG phones, the most important thing about WhatsApp was the fact that it used the internet, and therefore could be used whenever you had free access to wifi, so you didn't have to pay like you did to use texts.

So the spice rack was within reach of the playpen............and now the child is in a&e Summer holidays isn't it!

Lairymary · 28/07/2024 22:02

OPs tarragon to A&E.

Seriously though if you don't know the full story (since we had umpteen pages of wrong information before you revealed it was in fact fresh herbs!!) Jeesh learn how a mobile phone and Google works before wasting time on Mumsnet 🙄🙄🙄

@Sugarsugarahhoneyhoney

No it was fresh herbs from the bottom of the fridge. Everything out as they are moving house.

Except it was rack before everyone pointed out the absurdity of it. I’m not buying that it was a load of fresh herbs after that.

No it was the fresh herbs from the bottom of the fridge - apparently. Which for some inexplicable reason were left out in the vicinity of the toddler when they were moving house.

Don't you always remember to move the fresh herbs when you move house? Surely that's a top priority when packing. First thing I'd think of.

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 22:10

OP wasn't there. She had a message. She interpreted the message.

Dear me.

Let's pick part something cos what, we're all hot and bothered?

And god alive get our backs up because someone probably meant to say wi fi instead of internet. And like who cares? We're all really keen to put people straight?

Completely agree with this. I thought there must be something in the water! People really like to pile on when someone gets something slightly wrong, ( and which was beside the point). 🙄

And all artfully arranged within arm's reach of a toddler, sure where else would you put them?

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 22:28

Yeah cos toddlers NEVER get hold of stuff you don't want them too👍🏻😁

No just the 🏅one for you.

Because you even know how complete strangers should be packing up their houses.

It's no big dill

this is the best one. bit bored of thyme tbh

Nicely seasoned rather then a faint aroma of baby powder and dirty nappy.

Well of course - although possibly they should be packed up with the wi-fi router.

If you're worried, phone 111. But you still need internet for WhatsApp.

Yes, which you can access through your data, not WiFi. Not sure what that’s hard to understand?
