toddler eaten contents of herb rack - I think this is harmless?

No spices have been eaten, which would be a bit different. They have eaten rosemary, thyme and sage - I don't think there is anything to worry about there, is there? Not my toddler! Not my house!

and if you are hoping for advice, you have to search through a lot of nasty posts to find it, but that is probably isn't worth it if you are worried or upset.

This. 👍🏻

Not buying it

Love it. " herb rack " conspiracy theorists 😂

Toddler eats herbs during moving chaos. Mum with no wifi/electricity ( cos she's moving ) contacts others for advice.

SO ORDINARY

Cue intense discussion about Wapp/Internet
Cue taking the piss about herbs / A&E
Now Rack-gate

She was probably emptying her fridge. As you do! 🤦‍♀️

Plot twist: No electricity

Is it the norm for electricity to be disconnected prior to moving out? Does the new owner have to pay a reconnection fee?

Sugarsugarahhoneyhoney · 29/07/2024 09:15

If you were worried or upset you would not be getting a third party to post you would be straight on the phone to 111 if you had any sense especially when it comes to children and being poisoned.

Electric does not get disconnected.

Crack on👍🏻

You didn't read what OP said then?

I didn't think so!

No it isn't. The suppliers don't cut off electricity or gas. The person leaving provides final meter readings and the person moving in asks for the supply to be put in their name.

Same as here in Ireland, I just wondered when a poster who has spent the thread valiantly defending the OP declared there was no internet/electricity. It seemed bizarre that a new owner or tenant would have to move in and apply for a reconnection.

HollyKnight · 29/07/2024 09:21

It's clear that the OP didn't have all the facts when she posted her thread. She just assumed it was dry herbs, hence her talking about racks and spices. The stuff about there being no internet might also have been an assumption seeing as she didn't understand that using 3G/4G/data is still accessing the internet.

MN isn't the place to ask for medical advice. Especially when the information provided is just guesswork and assumptions. If your child has been potentially poisoned, contact professionals yourself rather than go through other people who only know what you tell them.

sunglassesonthetable · 29/07/2024 09:22

I've probably got electricity wrong, i thought I'd read that. So you can all stand down. Deep breaths.

But personally we'd turn it off if we were removing wall lights that were wired in. But hey that's derailing.

I suppose there's the possibility that if the person moving house was on a pay as you go meter using a card the card might have run out of credit if they hadn't topped it up because they were moving.

There's actually quite a few reasons why there might no be electricity at any given moment.

But hey my mistake.

AutumnFroglets · 29/07/2024 09:28

Why the fuck would ppl do that on moving day?

You are over invested in this thread, so much so that you are now spouting absolute nonsense. Just stop.

HollyKnight · 29/07/2024 09:29

You're not supposed to remove wired in wall lights. They're part of the fixtures and fittings. You can't just leave bare wires in a property when you move unless agreed with the new owners which would be a weird thing to agree to.

sunglassesonthetable · 29/07/2024 09:31

Yep OP did say there was no electricity.Read the thread.

And why the fuck wouldn't you remove certain lights on moving day? You do it when you get an electrician.

You're spouting tbh. .

But neither of the 2 reasons means there's no electricity. Turning off a circuit breaker to remove light fittings is easily remedied by turning it back on, and surely it's easy to get credit for a prepaid meter?

Troll hunting is tedious.

No one gives a shit whether you believe the OP or not.

Oh stop it.

People can and do take all sorts of fixtures. You agree it first.

You stop it. You're so desperate to defend your position that you're making up stupid examples to prove you're right. No one wants to move into a new house where they can't even turn a light on because the batshit previous owner removed the sconces.

sunglassesonthetable · 29/07/2024 09:39

What you don't think some people take expensive wired in lighting with them?

😂😂

sunglassesonthetable · 29/07/2024 09:48

PersonallyI am so NOT interested in why there was no electricity or internet.

But I know it's absolutely NOT beyond the realms of possibility for it to happen. It's like some people on here have never moved house and ever had the chaos that can ensue.

And for the record I'm taking my vintage anglepoise wall lights with me when I move.

Gladtobeout · 29/07/2024 09:51

Sage can cause miscarriage.

Is the toddler pregnant?

Not on moving day, no. Because they can't just leave exposed wires when they move out. Anyone wanting to swap out fittings will do it before moving out day.
