toddler eaten contents of herb rack - I think this is harmless?

No spices have been eaten, which would be a bit different. They have eaten rosemary, thyme and sage - I don't think there is anything to worry about there, is there? Not my toddler! Not my house!

God knows!! @fitzwilliamdarcy

Look at the nightmares on here. !

Caraxes · 28/07/2024 17:36

Taking you at face value op, no, dried herbs are not poisonous. I'd be surprised he did actually manage to ingest much, but even if he did some good will come of it - you have learned that there is a difference between "internet" and "WiFi". today, and the toddler's nappies might smell that bit sweeter tomorrow.

OhcantthInkofaname · 28/07/2024 17:37

As long as it's not hemlock you're OK.

VotesForWomen · 28/07/2024 17:38

A toddler really won't like the taste of a jar full of dried rosemary, thyme or sage, they won't have ingested much of it. It's an overreaction to contact or go to A&E.

I dont know why all these posts! I certainly use whatsapp all the time without internet. In fact I turn off the internet on my phone to use it at work, as it doesn't work very well on the work internet.

You need data to use WhatsApp which is the Internet 🙄 doesn't matter if it's WiFi, 3/4/5g......

Clingfilm · 28/07/2024 17:32

Give them a spoon of parsley for good measure and take them to Scarborough Fair?

Beat me to it !

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 17:38

Yeah but why would you check on MUMSNET and not, I don’t know, the well-known health service 111?

Don't really see what difference that makes. Why treat people like shit because you don't think they've asked at the right place???

And you know what, on a different day you'd actually get some help on here.

Piglet89 · 28/07/2024 17:39

are they still at your house or are they going to Scarborough Fair?

"I dont really care, what any of you think, would just like an answer to the question. Are any of these herbs dangerous? Rosemary thyme, sage."

Deadly. A&E NOW

It’s so deadly the mother and aunt also needed to be admitted. To school.

You know OP doesn't give a f*. You're totally missing the point and she's currently worried about a small child.

Cantrushart · 28/07/2024 17:40

It'll be a very pleasant nappy change.

OlympicNightmare · 28/07/2024 17:41

Just baste her and pop her in around 180 for 30 minutes.

On a serious note, who could possibly eat that much dried herbs? Not without a water chaser? There will be a stash of herbs somewhere. If she exists is really that bothered, call poison hotline to check. They’re great and they don’t automatically send an ambulance like 111 (in my experience)

AutumnFroglets · 28/07/2024 17:41

Call 111 before A&E. And double check how much was in the jars and how much is left in the playpen. They will need that information too.

TheRainItRaineth · 28/07/2024 17:42

How much was actually eaten? If we are talking a teaspoon it is probably fine. However sage in large quantities contains a substance that can harm your liver. If more than a very small amount was eaten, I would call 111 to check.

TheRainItRaineth · 28/07/2024 17:42

Oh, I didn't know there was a poison hotline, that sounds great, do that!

You don’t see the difference between a professional health service and some random strangers on MN?

Ethylred · 28/07/2024 17:42

This is the most boring Mumsnet OP of all time.

Growsomeballswoman · 28/07/2024 17:43

Sounds like he has eaten the lions share.

OlympicNightmare · 28/07/2024 17:44

If this is real, please call the poison hotline before A&E. they’re fasted and so efficient.

So worried she's posting on MN and not googling herself?

What are the chances of there being a, I don't even know, a witch or something on MN at this exact moment who knows 100% whether it's an issue? Slim I imagine.

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 17:45

You don’t see the difference between a professional health service and some random strangers on MN?

You don't see the difference between nit picking about internet access and answering someone's worries?

( Course I can see the difference. But I'm not going to berate someone for asking for advice.)

TheUnknownsMum · 28/07/2024 17:46

You could have googled this in half the thyme

GHSP · 28/07/2024 17:47

I am massively baffled. The OP must have ‘internet’ unless they have found a way to post on mn without it, so the OP could google this.

I suppose given they use WhatsApp without internet maybe they have… mice using teeny weeny semaphore flags? Pigeons who can squawk zeros and ones???

Megifer · 28/07/2024 17:47

Some sage advice given on this thread.......

TheGreenKnight · 28/07/2024 17:47

Jadedbuthappy82 · 28/07/2024 17:22

You need internet to post on WhatsApp. Have worked with toddlers nearly my whole life and cannot imagine any of them eating that amount of herbs tmh. They'll have tipped it somewhere, if they even exist. Bizarre. And I thought my life was strange 😆🤦🏼

WhatsApp works via the mobile phone network not the internet so it’s likely that she can WhatsApp without internet access.
