After seeing the new footage, I believe the officers actions were understandable.

He's not allowed to mete out his own punishment to people despite what they did beforehand. Police uphold the law that doesn't make him the law. He did it cause he lost his temper which shows he's not fit for the job, you can't have armed police who can't self regulate their emotions.

Chester23 · 28/07/2024 09:02

This is why I dislike all these videos that are taken. They only show one small part. Normally missing the before hand

Absolutely this.

Still doesn't make it right. Stamping on someone's head is never right.

mycatsanutter · 28/07/2024 09:04

The media shouldn't have shown half of it and the policeman shouldn't have lost his temper which he clearly did.

BurnerName1 · 28/07/2024 09:05

How many people do you know who want to do these jobs?

Of course he got it wrong he's a bloody human being in full fight or flight mode. But all the usual suspects will call for him to be hung, drawn and quartered while the actual offenders will cry racism, demand compensation and get 3 weeks community service for their offences.

People are sick of lawless thugs who think it's totally OK to attack armed police officers. This country is going down the toilet more every day.

UltramarineViolet · 28/07/2024 09:06

Understandable but not justifiable

That's my view @CoatesCat.

Regardless of what happened before, the officer should not have kicked the man in the face and stamped on his head.

Then go over to the brother and stamp on his leg and hit him on the head with a taser. He had lost control.

I'd like to know what happened when the police approached the family in the very first few seconds. Why did things become so chaotic so quickly?

QuillBill · 28/07/2024 09:09

Who do you mean? The police officer or the man he was arresting?

I still think what the police officer did was disgusting after seeing this.

He was not involved in a mass brawl. It was his job to detain a violent thug. It was not his job to become a violent thug himself.

He failed in his duty as a police officer and I hope he is sacked, because he, like many other police officers have proven, time and time again, is not somebody I would trust to protect me.

Createausername1970 · 28/07/2024 09:10

I assumed there would have been something that occurred beforehand. Generally speaking, policemen don't taser members of the public for the fun of it.

But once the suspect was grounded and immobile, he should have been cuffed. Kicking and stamping on his head isn't the way to go.

I support the police, and I hope that the people who assaulted them face the consequences of their actions. But unfortunately, in this instance, it does seem like this officer went too far in the aftermath. His emotions got the better of him. I can understand it, but I don't condone it.

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 28/07/2024 09:11

@BurnerName1 He lost his temper. It wasn't self defence, the man was already down. If you stamp on someone's head, you will be arrested and probably charged with attempted murder. That police officer isn't fit for the job.

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 28/07/2024 09:13

@Hateam Looks like his head to me.

YellowDots · 28/07/2024 09:14

*He didn't.

He clearly stamps hard on thr floor next yo the man's head.*

That's not what BBC Verify have said.

Exactly. You have to have a certain mindset to want a job like this.

Really makes me wonder what type of person chooses this as their career. Because time and again, the disgusting stuff that comes out about specifically male police officers, is disgraceful. Seems to be something every day.

Still doesn't make it right. Stamping on someone's head is never right.

And breaking the nose of a female officer is ten times worse. I hope this scum goes to prison for a long time and the officer is given a bloody medal. Assault of someone doing their job is never ok

I think you're right. He catches him a glancing blow and his foot hits the ground. But I think the intention was to stamp on his head.

From that angle it does look like it was stamped on.

However don’t use BBC verify as gospel as they have already been proven wrong many times about other issues.

SweetFemaleAttitude · 28/07/2024 09:22

a glancing blow

🤣🤣 Wtf

What about the bloke on the benches with his hands already on his head who the officer kicks in the thigh?

Was that a glancing blow too 🤣
