After seeing the new footage, I believe the officers actions were understandable.

And breaking the nose of a female officer is ten times worse.

Even if it is 'ten times worse' a policeman should not be kicking a member of the public in the face and stamping on his head.

That's not how the law works in the UK.

There's other countries you could go and live in where there's no court system if that's what you want.

Maddy70 · 28/07/2024 09:23

There is no way his actions are understandable.
Whatever had happened earlier. These are trained police officers who had a suspect tasered incapacitated and then proceeded to brutally kick him in the head which could have caused death or permanent brain damage

He was on the floor. He should have been handcuffed and arrested not attacked

BurnerName1 · 28/07/2024 09:24

Well the good news is: if people don't stop giving the police a kicking all the time, they will find other jobs. Just like all the nurses, teachers, prison officers etc who are retiring and no replacements to be found.

And then you can all do those jobs yourselves! Since you will all be so good at it! Facing violent, lawless thugs every day for 30k a year!

Welcome to the Thunderdrome. You'll love it there when all the frontline staff are no longer there to be your human shields.

YellowDots · 28/07/2024 09:25

However don’t use BBC verify as gospel as they have already been proven wrong many times about other issues.

I'm not using at as gospel but they looked at five videos from different angles.

I haven't personally seen any where it looks like the police man stamped next to the man's head and it's very clear he kicks him in the face first.

He clearly doesn’t stamp on his head.

Why are you defending scum? How would you feel if your child was harmed doing their job. Two officers were injured.

MiddleagedBeachbum · 28/07/2024 09:27

Nope - even after watching that the policeman was totally out of order.

We have a friend who is now in a vegative state and will never speak, eat, walk, or recover from one punch.

The police should never lose their temper and inflict acts of violence on others,

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/07/2024 09:28

The 2 men were thugs, they beat on the police officers clearly wanting to do damage.

However the police officer kicked one of them in the head after he'd been tasered and restrained on the floor. He can't do that.

I would probably not be able to hold back my temper in a similar situation, it's one of the many reasons I'm not a police officer. We need to be able to trust that the people keeping us same and upholding the law are able to retain their rationality and react appropriately in high pressure situations. This police officer didn't do that.

PBandJ111 · 28/07/2024 09:29

Wtf do people sympathise with violent scum or twats like the JSO girl who got jailed and can’t go to her brothers wedding. Boo bloody hoo. What is wrong with society.

Yeah you'll need Robocop for that, not an actual human being. Humans have emotions.

Cocopogo · 28/07/2024 09:30

Once over they’d have been slung in a cell and pasted. The law is changing to be more trauma informed with offenders however when you see thugs behave like that you do sometimes wonder if the U.K. has gone too soft and woke.

iamtheblcksheep · 28/07/2024 09:30

I really do blame the media for the protests. If the full video had been shown, very few people would have had an ounce of sympathy for the POS on the floor.

RoastLambs · 28/07/2024 09:31

Why are you asking people how they would feel if their child was harmed doing their job? What's that got to do with anything?

Are you saving'What if the man was Hitler!' for later?

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 28/07/2024 09:32

In this video it looks like a guy paying for his parking is grabbed by two police officers and has his head dashed against the payment machine. His brothers come in swinging and it turns into a fight with the police subduing one guy with a taser, and then despite already being subdued, the one officer kicks him in the head. I still think the police were appalling here.

Shockvote · 28/07/2024 09:33

After seeing the new footage, I think everyone should stop sticking their oar in and let an independent investigation take place.

YellowDots · 28/07/2024 09:33

*He clearly doesn’t stamp on his head.

It's not clear to me.

Why are you saying that the police should get to decide whether people are scum or not at the scene and then kick them in the face and stamp on their heads?

OneReformedCharacter · 28/07/2024 09:34

I think if the whole video had come out at once instead of the family releasing one that made them look like victims and then outright lying about what happened, the narrative people are pushing would be very different.

if you’ve put yourself in the position where the police are having to use extreme force to arrest and restrain you, I don’t much care what happens to you. Even if it means an officer booting you in the face. Don’t attack the police and you’ll be alright.

OhHelloMiss · 28/07/2024 09:35

I just read that the male officer was attacked so badly just before he kicked the other brother and was held in a chokehold from behind

He is thought to have momentarily have lost consciousness....he was armed, his weapon could have been seized and used

One female officer lost consciousness briefly too.....was she the second armed officer?

Can you imagine if these men had managed to seize the guns?

How many people do you know who want to do these jobs?

Of course he got it wrong he's a bloody human being in full fight or flight mode. But all the usual suspects will call for him to be hung, drawn and quartered while the actual offenders will cry racism, demand compensation and get 3 weeks community service for their offences.

People are sick of lawless thugs who think it's totally OK to attack armed police officers. This country is going down the toilet more every day.

100% this. You can clearly see his reaction wasn't thought out and premeditated.

Sarvanga24 · 28/07/2024 09:36

Of course the officer’s actions were still not justified. Nobody assumed they randomly picked members of the public to assault, obviously there was an issue beforehand.

Still doesn’t excuse a trained officer making a thuggish move that could paralyse, brain damage or kill an already restrained man.

Absolutely this!

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 28/07/2024 09:36

@iamtheblcksheep you're just being ridiculous now. Stamping on someone's head is much worse than a broken nose.

SallyWD · 28/07/2024 09:37

I saw the new footage. I'm not surprised by it. We already knew the man had been aggressive, broke someone's nose. Nothing justifies the man's aggressive behaviour but I'd like to see what happened before - I'd heard something about someone either pushing his mother or ramming a trolley in to her. Again, this doesn't justify what he did but we're still not seeing the full picture.
Regarding the policeman's actions, I'm torn. On the one hand he's only human, had just been attacked by an out of control man. I'm sure the policeman had adrenaline surging through his body. On the other hand, he's a professional, the man had been subdued. Absolutely no reason to stamp on his head. Police need to be held to higher standards than the violent people they deal with.

WhyIOughtTo · 28/07/2024 09:37

They didn't 'manage' and they didn't try either.

UltramarineViolet · 28/07/2024 09:06

Understandable but not justifiable

This. He lost self control and should face consequences for that, but, having seen the new footage, I can understand why he lashed out.
