To have allowed my dc watch the Olympic opening ceremony?

I was shocked at the library scene leading to a threesome.

The mocking of Christians in the last supper scene.

The feminization of males & the sheer number of transvestites on parade. And a child thrown in the midst of them.

This is a sporting event, why the need to have it so highly sexulaised? My dc were thankfully howling with laughter at parts "the smurf man" singing (complete with his painted bulge) had us all in stitches.

I feel there was a social conditioning agenda to the opening ceremony & it was completely inappropriate given that it is for family viewing. Sexulaised behaviour should not be displayed to children.

It fucking was mocking Christianity. They may have included Dionysus, but they represented him with attributes specific to the Roman version, Bacchus. While at the same time the supposed "Bacchanalia" was a clear mirror of Da Vinci's Last Supper. Only the wilfully ignorant or those lacking in knowledge of basic European art culture could deny it because it is clear as fucking day. And attempting to ridicule and gaslight those who see it (ie, almost everyone) will backfire enormously.

I can guarantee you that there are, for obvious example, people in the US who were on the fence about who to vote for that will tip to Trump because of this bullshit. This exact type of cultural shit led to fascism a century ago and if we don't cop the fuck on we'll go straight down the same road over the next couple of decades. (Not that I'm suggesting Trump is fascistic. But this shit will take us there if it doesn't stop.)

Dionysys and Bacchus are the same God. It was a Bachanalia. He's the god of partying, and the the father of the goddess of the Seine. How else is it supposed to look?

They said it was Dionysus during the event. His daughter is Sequana -the goddess of the Seine. Sequana is often depicted with a diadem or a crown. It wasn't mocking Christianity.

It that was true there is no way they would have issued an apology to Christians which they did.... It absolutely was aimed at Christians & mocking women to boot. Double whammy.

They didn't apologise for mocking Christianity.

[I couldn't post the picture of Donald Trump at a table surrounded by his minions.]

Is this mocking the Last Supper? How are people sitting at a table (or dancing beside a catwalk) supposed to look to avoid looking like the Last Supper?

Yes, I know they are the same god, it's why I said Roman version of him. However their mythology is somewhat different and Bacchus was the more extreme version. And a big party doesn't tend to look like a famous painting of a depiction of an important bible story.

As it had happened on Friday night, France tv tweeted that it was The Last Supper. And earlier today, in Iran, the foreign ministry has summoned the French ambassador to explain the insulting depiction of their Prophet Isa (Christian Jesus). The bearded drag queen on the right of the picture, red dress, blonde wig, called it a "biblical representation" in an interview with BFMTV. And the central figure in the halo said it was a "new gay testament" on an Instagram story.

There is absolutely no room for interpretation here. The depiction was clear to people all over the world, of all faiths and none. People won't be gaslit on this shit anymore.

This is the one post from the central character.

Personally I'm delighted they chose to ignorantly go down this route as the pushback will be a tsunami & rightly so! Bring it on!

I thought all the catwalk performers were beautiful - some stunning looks and incredible dancing (especially the ballet dancer). Really talented people whom it was a privilege to watch

Why shouldn’t Christianity be invoked in a ceremony taking place in a generally Christian country ? But reformulated to acknowledge how times have changed ? How is this mocking ? If people have such unshakeable faith in their magic fairies then no need to take offence, right ? Turn the other cheek is it ?

Felt like a three hour long episode of Eurotrash, with boats.

Viviennemary · 04/08/2024 09:40

Only just read about this today. I didn't watch the opening ceremony. Its a disgrace if they intentionally mocked Christianity. It's an easy target. Anyway they have apologised. Hmm.
