Perhaps women aren't cut out to be on the front line?

Footage of the female officers at the attempted assassination of Trump, and of the scenes at Manchester Airport makes me think that perhaps we're not best suited in those situations.

Would those four violent men have dared attack male officers in the same way?

Of course they're not. Been saying this for years. All women should learn to fight and do their best to do so if necessary, but men are the violent predatory sex and we need men to protect us from them

They're built for combat, from thicker bones, skulls, faster predatory reflexes, far greater strength and size. It's not up for debate.

I saw a female police officer bouncing through a shopping mall recently and thought FFS what good are you if a man attacks me? At a DV call out we need men to protect us from violent men.

Not sure why we have to pretend we're physically capable of doing jobs we're not physically capable of or why some women pretend otherwise.

One punch in the head from a thug generally teaches them the lesson, but too late.

Definitely need women in the police force, security forces, fire departments etc. And definitely not on front lines.

Reality doesn't care about our feelings.

Good i'm glad you see the light now then and stop pretending you can do a man's job. Those who answered my question about sports with their what aboutery saying they are not comparable are exactly what I predicted also.😂

Your comparison is simply a logical fallacy and one that really shouldn't be taken seriously by anyone.

Those who responded to you on that weren't engaging in Whataboutery! 🤦‍♂️

They were explaining why your comparison was a false comparison and a false equivalence fallacy too.

Very different thing to Whataboutery.

mansviewpoint · 25/07/2024 22:07

You do know why only 10 applied don't you? If you don't then that you find out abit more rather than reading an article written they had already been warned off applying and some of them were told by their fellow squaddies that "we won't want to fight the enemy we will be having to much of a good time on you" and "if you are on the front line then I'll shoot you from behind and rape your corpse". The author of this piece is an ex para from the 80s so is just opinionated and has no first hand knowledge.

And if you were trapped in same burning building and that big burly fireman couldn't get through the debris but a smaller female firefighter could. Would you change your mind then? Any team should be using each others strengths to get the end result.

Oh come on, that's a reach. But well done for finding a loophole and not taking my point that in some situations, you're definitely better off with the superior strength and speed of a male.

XChrome · 25/07/2024 22:16

Seems that some big tough men need MN moderators to save them from the horror of women's opinions about the bullshit they post. Interesting.

Oh, there's a big strong man here to explain things to us!

Hush now, my delicate flower, or I will send you to the doctor as you are suffering from hysteria.😊

This is a very weird thread 🤯

How about hearing from women who have worked in policing and security?
I worked in security for many years. I've been a bodyguard, a bouncer, done security at rowdy festivals, you name it. I've faced all kinds of situations, though not with guns involved. That isn't common in Canada.

In those days I was bodybuilding and stronger than many of the fit men at my gym, and most men who were not fit. A man at the gym actually told me the men had discussed it together and decided I was making them look bad.🙄 I'm also well trained in martial arts. I have lifted refrigerators, and I mean the large North American ones. Can the average man lift a large refrigerator? No way.

So who would you want to have your back- me as I was in those days, or the average unfit male?
Now I'm not saying I was any better than a man with the same training. Of course not. However, how many criminals is one going to encounter with that kind of training? The odds are extremely low, so it's not a factor worth considering.

Are there any other women here with this kind of experience?

honestyISkind · 25/07/2024 22:35

The average unfit male. Without a moment's hesitation.

WishIhadnotcome · 25/07/2024 22:39

andsisters · 25/07/2024 14:25

Obviously but that's more of an equal playing field.

If someone was attacking me, I would want a man defending me. Personally.

It depends which man and which woman. I’ve met some pretty hard women and some very timid men and vice versa.

Sounds like you're threatening sexual assault. Why are you talking about people's reproductive organs? Makes you sound deranged.

Goldenbear · 25/07/2024 23:13

Realduchymarmalade · 25/07/2024 14:34

Of course it should be a male job. Those women looked ridiculous and I felt embarrassed for them. But you won’t find many on here to agree with you OP.

What difference does it make? In the Trump case in particular how does physicality come into it, it’s sharpness of thought surely?

Then you'd just have to live with regretting that unwise decision.

@andsisters Fully agree with you in some circumstances.

As in on the front line within the military, Infantry and front line fighting force is no place for a woman for a whole bunch of different reasons.

The female bodyguards for Trump were woefully inadequate and should never have been placed in that role. They did not possess the adequate height, strength or skills to ensure trump was secure went down on the ground and sayed their until he was in a position to remove him from the situation.

As for police if they can pass the male physical fitness test then I have no problems, but the simple fact is that they will always antagonise male criminals who will see no authority in a female. that is not victim blaming the officers its a simple matter of fact.

Front line staff often need to have an intimidating and forceful presence when needed in some situations and no matter how you feel about equality, to criminals and people who are of that mindset I'm afraid the equality card has ZERO part to play, it's a fact and you cant discount facts because you want all things to be equal or they hurt you feelings.

Edited

Are you a police officer? As other female officers have already commented- it's more likely the other way around

ThisNoisyTealLurker · 25/07/2024 23:33

I’ve worked in front line policing and your post is pretty offensive to be honest. Never have I or a fellow female officer acted in any way different to how a male officer would act. I’m afraid you don’t know what you’re talking about.

It's a shame they feel the need to get aggressive and threatening.

I think you may have a point, after all we never see male on male violence.....

The numerous posts on Mumsnet criticizing men for being aggressive towatds women and saying they wouldn't have done there towards a man.

I'm sorry that you took it the wrong way.. I'm not threatening any sexual assault, flossed was thanking sarcastically about how a man was there to protect a woman and was manspailing , I then added also sarcastically that they were in need of a doctor as men used to say, for their 'hysteria'. Which if you know the deranged history of how men subjugated women, was the powerful man would gaslight a woman, usually after he had done something wrong. When i realised that you had misinterpreted my intent as non sarcastic, I said to look at my previous post so you could see that I was arguing that women are more than capable of being front line officers. I hoped you would have done. The smelling comment, again, is about how doctors in the 19th century would cure a woman's hysteria. Again that's how backwards and how unjust the thinking was and looking at the OP I was trying to highlight once again how antiquated her views are and that she has clearly been indoctrinated into men are protectors of women, which is imperically wrong. I am sorry that a caused offence in what I would presume you would realise was a sarcastic comment, and that you weren't aware of both it, but also the link between the smells and the very inaccurate male representation of 'hysteria' which most people now agree was and is a form of PTSD from what their 'protector' would do to their wives / servants / partners.
