Husband thinks boob job using inheritance is dumb

Uhjo · 19/07/2024 12:32

I received a small inheritance from my grandmother. Dh and I have agreed a couple things it will go on ( mutually beneficial). With the remainder I said I will look into getting a breast lift. Dh has stated how much a waste he thinks this is but equally said it’s your money.

For context, I like my boobs but ONLY when they are in a bra (so that’s why dh considers it a waste). I’m 130 pounds but wear a 32 e. I just hate the way they hang. But it is easily solved by wearing bras. So I do kind of see the point. With the size of my boobs it’s not like I could wear a tight top and go braless. That’s not the goal.

I’m 31 and just want to love my entire body I guess. DH suggested I go to Turkey but I would rather stick to a UK surgeon.

We are not in debt and own our house. Of course there are loads of things that the money could go on.

Is it silly? I guess I am concerned my judgement is clouded and I am being controlled to a certain extent by an insecurity.

Your money, your body, your choice.

Tried how? Just willing it?
Surgery won't necessarily sort it out. It's a gamble.

She's lived 13 years of adult hood and has decided she doesn't love them if op was 18 we'd be saying ah wait till your 30.

So not tried any methods of actually working on mental health and self image. People suggesting doing so aren't wrong. Just different in their approach and maybe coming from a place of experience.
Surgery doesn't cure you if the problem is in your mind.

I don’t believe it is the case that you need to get implants for a lift.

No, but they will remove your nipples to centralise them, so you will have breast scarring. See some Google images.
I had implants with no lift and I'm very happy with them.
The scars are tiny and hidden underneath.

She's not mentally ill for wanting perkier boob's 30 is still young!

Toohardtofindaproperusername · 22/07/2024 22:48

It's big business when women feel insecure about their bodies and minds and whole being. Please read, dance, do something to connect somehow to your body and learn to love it without getting it surgically cut open and changed. 32e needs a bra .. it just needs support. That's fine .. so do mens dangle bits. It doesn't mean they should be altered.
Love yourself as you are. It will be worth more than any inheritance you'll ever get, for you and your future children ...... and husband ..
Enjoy.

What's age got to do with it?
I didn't say mentally ill. But hating ones body/wanting it to appear what is seen as the current beauty standard so much they are willing to risk their life and health isn't mentally healthy is it.

Because she's at age to make the decision sensibly ans also at the age where she's feeling she's not ready to give up perkiness! She wants to love her body she's not lamenting in with hatred.

We live in a mentally ill world when it's deemed that wanting "perlier" boobs is fine and dandy without any critical reflection at all about how we got here, why we got here, and what role women can play in supporting each other to understand something about capitalism, big pharma ...and resistance. Jeez its shocking that perkier boobs os seen as soemrhifn benign rather rhan what it is...money making business preying on women's anxieties and probably helping to create them in the first place.

What do you mean give up perkiness? How 'perky' should a 30 year olds breasts be? I didn't realise there was an angle we should aspire to.
So you agree it's body hatred? If so can you not see why changing that mindset might be more helpful long term?

Oh I am supporting another woman here to exercise free will over her own body.

Yeah and no one is telling her she can't do it. They are making suggestions of alternatives. Why is that wrong in your mind? Ultimately she's obviously free to do it if she wishes.

Its coming across as bitchy and judgemental.

Why do you think that is?
I don't think that's anyone's intention.
If you have had plastic surgery it's not people coming for you. It's your choice.
But we should all be examining why we have this level of insecurity as women. Even if that you ultimately go ahead it's worth taking into consideration.

Is this a reference to something?
Can you explain?
Yeah I do want women to not hate themselves. Don't you?

MeganM3 · 22/07/2024 23:10

I had breast surgery at the same age (post kids) and was thrilled with the results.
One of the best things I've ever spent money on because I love how I look now and that's a great feeling. I know I'm no insta beauty type, but I'm a good version of myself now.

If he had the money and opportunity to change his dick for the better you can bet he bloody would!! Do what you want.

I wasn't talking about myself at all.
And yes body image and self esteem are definitely things you can work on!
There's many therapy techniques that help people with these things and unlearning the toxic messages we get told as women. Avoiding social media, choosing not to spend time with people that judge bodies would be a start for many of us.

Snoring is also something that people can have help not to do. Bad example.

There's many treatments men can have to change their dicks. They don't though.
