Husband thinks boob job using inheritance is dumb

Uhjo · 19/07/2024 12:32

I received a small inheritance from my grandmother. Dh and I have agreed a couple things it will go on ( mutually beneficial). With the remainder I said I will look into getting a breast lift. Dh has stated how much a waste he thinks this is but equally said it’s your money.

For context, I like my boobs but ONLY when they are in a bra (so that’s why dh considers it a waste). I’m 130 pounds but wear a 32 e. I just hate the way they hang. But it is easily solved by wearing bras. So I do kind of see the point. With the size of my boobs it’s not like I could wear a tight top and go braless. That’s not the goal.

I’m 31 and just want to love my entire body I guess. DH suggested I go to Turkey but I would rather stick to a UK surgeon.

We are not in debt and own our house. Of course there are loads of things that the money could go on.

Is it silly? I guess I am concerned my judgement is clouded and I am being controlled to a certain extent by an insecurity.

OP posts:

Mine look pretty similar to that, kind of offended to be told there’s something wrong with them.

OP, I would do it in a heart beat. I'm a bit confused about all the terminology here. I had a reduction 20 years ago and that automatically meant they were lifted. Since then, they have got bigger, not least because I am a lot bigger, but they are still remarkably perky. Not as perky as I'd like but certainly not hugely saggy and I suspect if I could just lose the excess 2 stone, it would make a huge difference.

I think a 32 E is probably pretty big, and with the saggyness, totally reasonable to be unhappy (also, I'd put money on you actually being a bigger cup size.) I have a friend who is quite a lot smaller than that - something like a 30 D - but she has the sort of saggy breasts in your original picture and I know how it can look.

Do it locally.

I hope your friend doesn't know how you think her breasts are awful

There's nothing wrong with your boobs. People are awful

BeaRF75 · 19/07/2024 15:53

You are both right that it's your money, and you can spend it how you like.
But I also don't understand anyone spending money on cosmetic (ie unnecessary) surgery. Why is how you look so important to you? As has been mentioned, therapy would be safer and cheaper!

DoIWantTo · 19/07/2024 15:54

@Krumblina the world needs more people like you Flowers never thought there was something wrong with them before, reading this thread has been a bit of a “do I look crap?” kind of moment though and @IdLikeToBeAFraser comment really threw me. I could never afford a boob job so worrying about them looking crap is something I don’t want to be doing!

Whataretalkingabout · 19/07/2024 15:56

Hello OP, only listen to advice from people who have had it done.
My dear sis had a breast reduction after her 3 children because she felt her boobs were too large and saggy. She was so happy that she had it done then and still looks fantastic 30 years later.
Your body, your decision!

What? Wow, talk about a weird leap there.

I didn't say they look awful. I said I know how they can look because I've seen it with my friend. In fact, I know because my friend has told me how she feels about it and got her bra off to show me once (while still wearing her top) because she was having a rant about having relatively small breasts but always feeling like she needs to wear a bra. I assured her that it's fine - and it is and of course, normally she wears a bra so frankly, until then I'd had no opinion on her breasts whatsover!. She's far more self conscious about it than I think anyone else would notice. So I get where the OP is coming from as a result.

CutthroatDruTheViolent · 19/07/2024 15:56

I would get it done. I have large breasts that sag - I don't mind the sag but I do mind that my nips are on the bottom. I just want them to point forward :(

willWillSmithsmith · 19/07/2024 15:58

Krumblina · 19/07/2024 15:45

You're making a lot of assumptions here that people do those other things. Although those other things don't risk life.
I think telling the op to consider other options before taking this risk is smart advice.
Do we not want to consider why women hate their normal bodies so much they are willing to harm them and risk their lives.

I don’t like my body anymore, on an aesthetic level, I appreciate its abilities. We will all have our own reasons why and they will differ somewhat.

My post has definitely been taken out of context. I have no opinion on what your breasts or OP's breasts are like. I DO know how this can make SOME women feel because I have a friend with this type of breast and because I have previously had a breast reduction because I was so self conscious about my breasts (which is also, I suspect, why I am more likely to be the recipient of unwanted breast discussions from friends!)

Toomanysquishmallows · 19/07/2024 16:05

I don’t think therapy would help me . I would love a boob job , because I really don’t like being a 32 b I feel really unfeminine .

Hotgirlwinter · 19/07/2024 16:07

I would do it OP, if you’d come on here and said they cause me immense pain and physical suffering everyone would say do it! But because the suffering is (mostly) appearance based then it’s “no it’s too dangerous / how vain / invest in therapy”

I’ve never ever heard of someone who has had a reduction or a lift regret it.

Have a consultation and make an informed decision.

i had fab boobs all my life until i had kids, pregnancy and the weight gain did a number on them. Now in my 40s I’m a bit sad when I look at them hanging down on my belly but then I think well I got 20+ years of good boobs and they served me well. Why shouldn’t you be able to appreciate your body and also get some good years out of your youth?!

Why would therapy not help you? Sounds like you need to unpick why you see your female body as unfeminine and why it needs to anyway

In the most extreme cases a number of women who have been treated in the UK after procedures in Turkey have had kidneys removed without their knowledge or consent”

Quote from an article from the Isle of Man, specifically from the Interim Director of Public Health, Dr Hugo Van Woerden.

Edited

Nowhere in the manxradio article you quote from does it say that kidneys were removed during breast surgery. It refers to complications after abdominoplasty and breast surgery, but does not specify that kidneys were removed during the latter. It also is not the medical chap claiming it, it is the writer. The medical input is to research properly before going.

I don't doubt that all sorts of dubious things do go on in some countries, or that Turkey has some pretty shoddy surgeons. I definitely would not be advising anyone to go there, but it simply is not anatomically possible to secretly remove an abdominal organ via incisions to the chest, which is where the breasts are located. If you were going to illicitly remove a kidney, you would do it via an abdominal incision whilst doing another form of abdominal surgery.

But don’t you think that might be because therapy will help with mindset but not physical pain?

There is risk with it. I know someone who really regretted that it stopped her breast-feeding. Her words”I don’t know what I was thinking.” Posters above have said they have had bad experiences with non-essential surgery. And you aren’t going to hear from the people who died obviously.

So I think the reason for the disparity is the simple one that people think if you could fix it with therapy that would avoid the risk. No amount of talking about it will get rid of actual pain though

Your money

Your boobs

Just do it

They could have turned them on their side while under anaesthetic? Anyway article is about women not men so women are obviously vulnerable and they’re still taking a kidney without consent!

If you don't want kids I'd say go for it
If you do wait until you've had children

HausofHolbein · 20/07/2024 14:07

I'd absolutely do this. Your money, your body, your choice. Good luck.

Bonbontutu · 20/07/2024 15:09

Have a breast uplift when you are done having children, but do not get implants!!

I was sold mine as a safe product. Well they weren't, they were textured implants which have since been recalled due to their link with BIA ALCL (breast implant cancer). Implants carry risks.

Also, they have lifespan of 10 years.

The breast lift and explant I recently had cost close to 10k. With implants it would have been more.

Middleagedspreadisreal · 20/07/2024 18:10

Don't go to Turkey.

Pinkfluff76 · 20/07/2024 19:02

Go for it!

themagicnumberthree · 20/07/2024 19:06

You want perkier boobs and you have the money. I'd do it in your position

Mumof3confused · 20/07/2024 19:18

Implant illness is a real thing and that’s if you don’t have complications from surgery. Some surgery causes you to lose all sensation in the nipples and if you have implants they have to be replaced down the line. I’d put the money to one side and have it down after you’ve had children and if you still feel like having it then.

YorkshireTeaBiscuits · 20/07/2024 19:22

How is your pension and investment situation? That's where I'd put my money, not on making a male cosmetic surgeon even richer.
