To not shower every day? And....

connemarailoveyou · 18/07/2024 19:17

I don't shower every day. Am I gross? I shower every other evening and on those days I have a proper wash including hair shampoo conditioner etc plus any shaving that needs to be done

Mornings I wash face teeth and put deo on. I think it's ok as I don't smell but wondered am I gross

Also on another entirely different subject, do some ppl never go to parents eve? And if u miss a few does it get mentioned

It's fine. But MN is two showers a day territory so don't expect much hope.

I’ve just seen someone’s comment on this post that they shower twice a week, and I’ve read that poster post on another thread that they have sex 5-6 times per week 🤢🤢

Yeah that's not great. I'm not fussed if I don't shower every day. But I'm always going to shower after sex, which certainly isn't 5-6 times a week here!

sparkellie · 21/07/2024 05:32

I don't shower every day, and parents evening depends. My son has asd and learning disabilities, I don't go to parents evening for him, a 5 min talk with individual subject teachers doesn't achieve anything. I am however in regular contact with the school including his yearly ehcp review, which tends to last aroundan hour. I couldn't make my dds Yr 7 parents evening this year and felt crap about it, but did pop in to see her teacher and speak to them about a couple of things, and contact her teacher directly if something comes up. I'm not sure it's necessarily attendance at parents evening that matters, it's being interested in your child's education, and communication with school. Showing up once a year doesn't do that for me.

NChange10 · 21/07/2024 08:56

I think maybe you are a bit overwhelmed. Bit stressed. Showering daily helps reset. You don't need to wash your hair each time.
Parents evenings are important for you and your kid. They want to see you there.

Bloody hell imagine the stink after a few days

SecretLocker · 21/07/2024 09:51

It is noticeable. You're one of those people who walk past and I can smell unwashed hair or unclean clothes.

That won't be because it's wednesday morning and they last showered on Monday evening.

That's someone who hasn't washed in 5 days or more

As has already been mentioned, several times, how can you tell when these people you smell last showered? It could have been a week ago, or a month ago, I really don't believe that you are so "special" that your sense of smell can tell you exactly when someone last showered. Also someone could shower three times a day and still wear unclean clothes.

Honestly, some people really lack basic intelligence.

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 21/07/2024 11:46

ScentWoman

She can walk past you and tell you exactly when you last showered just by smell alone. And judge you accordingly...

The unwashed hair could be one of the daily 2 min shower people.

Bloody hell imagine being stinky because you haven't washed for a few days.
Must be awful. Maybe you should see a GP.

Some people are super tasters,, perhaps some people are super smellers?

tuttuttutt · 21/07/2024 14:31

@kitsuneghost you sound like one of those ignorant nose blind people. If you have sex 5-6 times a week and only shower twice a week (which the poster I replied to was talking about it) then you will smell!

Perhaps they are, but they still have no idea what time the person last showered 🤷‍♀️

I think most people would stink after not washing for 3 days after having had sex perhaps 2-3 times in that period.

Jazzabel · 21/07/2024 14:51

You can tell if someone hasn’t had a shower. It’s not always a nasty sweaty BO smell but there is a musty smell. Unfortunately it’s very noticeable if you use a public toilet directly after a lady that hasn’t had a wash down there. I have recognised it on myself if I’m late for work and don’t have time to shower in the morning. And I can smell it on others. I do try and shower everyday though as I love the clean fresh feeling after and don’t want to smell bad. I’m not surprised some people don’t shower every day. It’s the amount of people I’ve met who openly admit to not brushing their teeth twice a day that disgust me.

Yes, you can tell when someone hasn't had a shower, but you have absolutely no idea when they last showered.

HereComesEverybody · 21/07/2024 17:04

Why does this topic come up again & again?

I think able bodied adults should shower daily. And should be setting that example & standard for their kids. That goes for men & women.

A 5 minute shower is more efficient & faster than all this very British nonsense about flannel & strip washing! Honestly I don't actually believe the people who say they do this. If you have access to a shower or bath why on earth would you carry on with all that faff. And then all those horrible cloths that have apparently used on bums, genitals & pits- disgusting to have them festering about the place or are these people also running washing machines daily to clean them?

Also agree with the pp who say you can totally tell a person who hasn't washed when you have the misfortune to use a public toilet after them.

And I think parents evenings are important to attend. And I'll also go out of a limb & say that it's also prob a good idea to clean yourself up a bit before going to them. Put on a clean top & run a brush through your hair at the very least.

I was always taken aback to see some other parents come to parents evening in dirty worn clothes and reeking of cooking etc. It doesn't take much to tidy yourself up a little bit

TomatoSandwiches · 21/07/2024 14:30

It doesn't matter if they are super smellers. The point is there is no way anyone can tell just by smell the exact time when someone else last showered/bathed. You might be able to smell them/their clothes but it is IMPOSSIBLE to pinpoint anything else. I sometimes smell people with bo - I don't immediately think "oh they haven't had a shower for two days."

Give me strength .......

wateringcanface · 21/07/2024 22:54

I mostly shower every night just out of habit, but on the rare occasion my routine is thrown, like early this week where I travelled to stay with family, and arrived late and just didn't cross my mind to arrive and hop in shower, I really don't feel gross or unclean for skipping one day. Unless you are doing lots of activity or are a very sweaty person (like my husband) I don't think a daily shower is essential

HesGotHisTrombolyse · 22/07/2024 12:26

ForGreyKoala · 20/07/2024 22:02

Because some of us like to? I might only shower every 2nd day, but I have a decent shower while I'm in there, especially at this time of year (winter) when it's a way of getting warm. 😅

I asked is because when you said 'I know they always say that, but I put the plug in the bath once when I was having a shower and by the time I was finished (5-10 minutes) there was much more water in there than if I’d had a bath.' it sounded like you were saying that a regular shower uses more water than a regular bath, which it doesn't.

Delatron · 22/07/2024 14:35

I can smell if someone walks past me and has had a shower recently because they smell all fresh. Ditto the reverse if it’s been a few days.

If you are going to quote someone you might like to quote the correct person! I have a bath but never use it as such, it was a poster earlier on in my quoted post who said that, not me.
