To hope all the reform voters take a hard look in the mirror?

I have to wonder how you live with yourselves. It’s like you know you’re awful people, not just filled with spite and hate but also motivated by it. I genuinely am so baffled how you can sit here on this forum that is largely about supporting others through difficult times - perhaps you’ve found help and comfort in the various threads MN has to offer, and then you go ‘yep, fuck everyone else’.

My aunt was a BNP and then UKIP supporter, and a grifter par excellence throughout her life, and all of her arguments were the same as the arguments I’ve seen on here by Reform voters here. 4 million people went out there to declare ‘I’m a complete dickhead to everyone around me but want everyone to hand everything to me on a spoon’

Just fuck off.

(I’m not even a labour or green or whatever voter, I just think you’re awful people and deserve nothing but contempt)

Yep. Nigel Farage is the second coming of Oswald Moseley and we are sleep walking into fascism.

Fargo79 · 05/07/2024 23:29

What's the point of this? I am not a Reform supporter and am entirely ideologically opposed to almost everything they stand for. But insulting and shaming people has never been an effective tool for changing their mindsets. Do you think that anyone who voted Reform would read this and recognise themselves in your description? Or care about the opinion of someone who is speaking to them like that? Or be motivated to change their opinions or world view?

If you genuinely want other people to share your outlook, this isn't the way to achieve that. If anything, it will have the opposite effect.

cadburyegg · 05/07/2024 23:32

YANBU I am horribly disappointed that Nigel Farage has got a seat. Grim. I would like him to take a long walk off a short pier

Topofthemountain · 05/07/2024 23:37

When the NE turned blue and the occupants voted overwhelming for Brexit, I tried to understand how they / we had got to that point.

Now, I think it is about beings stupid sticking it to the man, and you can neither argue with that or attempt to understand why.

NF is a self-serving wazzock who loves the sound of his own voice. He cares for no one but himself.

Scautish · 05/07/2024 23:38

I think that attitude is only going to drive more to reform

i think farage is odious and I had to mute him when he spoke last night. I think his politics are contemptible and driven by racism, misogyny and narcissism.

but not everyone who voted reform is a racist and I think it’s unfair and divisive to state that.

the last 14 years have been awful for many. Austerity, impact of a nonsensical Brexit, Covid, CoL. when everything seems so bleak then perhaps voting for someone new who is promising something different may seem like only option. Exactly like Trump did.

i despise Farage and his populist and divisive politics. But I’m hopeful our new government- led by many who have come from working class backgrounds and not privilege like Farage, Sunak or Johnson - will gradually reverse the disaster of the past 14 years and perhaps make Reform less and less relevant

(and note that UKIP got 12% in 2015 so actually the increase in vote for reform to 14% isn’t particularly impressive)

PickAChew · 05/07/2024 23:42

It was Farage who influenced the push for Brexit the first place.

DinnaeFashYersel · 05/07/2024 23:43

Insulting people is not the way to change their minds

MyCatHatesSandals · 05/07/2024 23:45

Actually, I think the more productive thing for you is to look at yourself in the mirror. You don't see anything? Look harder.

I am not a Reform voter.

SkippysEar · 05/07/2024 23:45

4 million people say fuck off back!

I think you really need some kind of help. You also need to start understanding that other people have different life experiences to you. Your post is basically everything you are crudely arguing against.

it’s extraordinary how lacking in self awareness you appear to be.

Iffx · 05/07/2024 23:47

I doubt anyone who voted Reform is ashamed.

If I need to vote Reform to get Starmer out next time, I’ll do it.

Epicaricacy · 05/07/2024 23:48

😂

Ifittellsthebiggestlieswearstheloudestties · 05/07/2024 23:53

Did you go NC with your aunt? I wouldn't be surprised as you dont sound like someone who can tolerate a difference in opinion.

Also, heard of tactical voting?

Mothership4two · 05/07/2024 23:53

Well Reform voters think they are in the right and you are wrong OP (same as you). Same as voters for the other parties.

caringcarer · 05/07/2024 23:54

Epicaricacy · 05/07/2024 23:48

😂

This. 🤣

SwordToFlamethrower · 05/07/2024 23:55

My dad was BNP and UKIP too. He has dementia and gets 24 hour care from brown skinned immigrants. The irony is delicious. Except he doesn't treat the nurses kindly. He would have been leafletting for Reform no doubt.

Yes he was an awful man who fathered children and was happy to let lesser men bring them up for him while he lived it up with a new woman.

He laughed at me when I said I wanted to remain, completely forgetting that I have 3 half Italian siblings and married a Dutch man. So selfish was he.

Circumferences · 05/07/2024 23:57

You're clearly out of touch.

Liverpool52 · 05/07/2024 23:58

So are only people who agree with you entitled to a vote?

Whenwillitgetwarm · 06/07/2024 00:00

They are disgraceful. All decent people should call them out. When we said ‘never again’, we meant it. No sleepwalk into fascism. These ghouls have nasty plans for the UK and the US.

spuddy4 · 06/07/2024 00:07

I just took a long hard look in the mirror and it's dark so I couldn't really see a lot.

I voted Reform because I believe that we should be helping the people in this country who are using food banks, in temporary housing, been on NHS waiting lists for years, can't get their children into a local school etc. I find it strange that you assume that I don't want to help others.

I've worked since I was 14 so I don't need everything handed to me on a plate.

Also you can fuck off right back because unlike you I respect the outcome of the election and I'm not going to get drunk then make a fool of myself on the internet by ranting at people who don't agree with me.

I'd agree with that. I loathe everything Reform stands for but I suspect taking people to task for voting for them will just make them more entrenched in their views.

Viewfrommyhouse · 06/07/2024 00:10

Who should they have voted for OP?

MorningCoffeeBreak · 06/07/2024 00:11

A fair description of you, OP

@spuddy4 seriously, do you think immigrants cause these problems? Please educate yourself
