To hope all the reform voters take a hard look in the mirror?

I have to wonder how you live with yourselves. It’s like you know you’re awful people, not just filled with spite and hate but also motivated by it. I genuinely am so baffled how you can sit here on this forum that is largely about supporting others through difficult times - perhaps you’ve found help and comfort in the various threads MN has to offer, and then you go ‘yep, fuck everyone else’.

My aunt was a BNP and then UKIP supporter, and a grifter par excellence throughout her life, and all of her arguments were the same as the arguments I’ve seen on here by Reform voters here. 4 million people went out there to declare ‘I’m a complete dickhead to everyone around me but want everyone to hand everything to me on a spoon’

Just fuck off.

(I’m not even a labour or green or whatever voter, I just think you’re awful people and deserve nothing but contempt)

Actually, I think the more productive thing for you is to look at yourself in the mirror. You don't see anything? Look harder.

I am not a Reform voter.

Exactly, a more productive use of time would be to listen to them and work out why they think Farage is a representative for them

Noteveryoneshouldvote · 06/07/2024 00:12

@spuddy4 seriously, do you think immigrants cause these problems? Please educate yourself

They never said that.

spuddy4 · 06/07/2024 00:16

@Noteveryoneshouldvote I live in an area that is housing immigrants in two hotels and see firsthand daily what problems they are causing. It's easy for people on MN to judge and preach to people like me when you are not directly affected by it every day.

I don't need to educate myself, I live it.

ll09sm · 06/07/2024 00:16

Oh dear, OP is like a caricature of a virtuous, progressive ‘be kind’ cliche.

Who knew that these people actually exist in reality and not just in satire.

Upupandaway10 · 06/07/2024 00:17

People have different live experiences than you and can vote who they want you to. We live in a democracy.

Whenwillitgetwarm · 06/07/2024 00:18

I feel sorry for people who didn’t vote Reform who live in towns with a Reform MP. Those towns will sink. Many potential tourists (internal and external) will be put off so inward investment will reduce.

I remember when the BNP gained one councillor (so not even an MP) in Broxbourne many years back. As a result people from towns around it used to slag Broslxbourne off. . It became a homing beacon to rougher elements which caused more slagging off and so on. After a short the councillor went back Tory.

ll09sm · 06/07/2024 00:18

Quick! Someone call the daily mirror and nominate OP for Pride of Britain award. Because she pounded her keyboard with moral and virtuous words on the internet.

Actually, scrap that. Just skip straight to the sainthood.

spuddy4 · 06/07/2024 00:07

I just took a long hard look in the mirror and it's dark so I couldn't really see a lot.

I voted Reform because I believe that we should be helping the people in this country who are using food banks, in temporary housing, been on NHS waiting lists for years, can't get their children into a local school etc. I find it strange that you assume that I don't want to help others.

I've worked since I was 14 so I don't need everything handed to me on a plate.

Also you can fuck off right back because unlike you I respect the outcome of the election and I'm not going to get drunk then make a fool of myself on the internet by ranting at people who don't agree with me.

You believe that reform want to help the vulnerable. I just cannot comprehend that level of naivety. You voted for a bunch a vile racist misogynists who wouldn't spit on someone on food poverty if they were on fire. And their plan for the NHS is a US style insurance system.

Mothership4two · 06/07/2024 00:21

Like I said, everybody thinks they are in the right

wintersgold · 06/07/2024 00:22

You should be ashamed of yourself. That's all I can say (and no, I'm not a reform voter)

SkippysEar · 05/07/2024 23:45

4 million people say fuck off back!

Screaming into the void

XenoBitch · 06/07/2024 00:24

Both my parents voted Reforrm.. and Reform came 3rd where I live.

Vote shaming pisses me off. Happens every time.

Screaming into the void

Is the what you said just before the Brexit referendum too?

These people never learn

Ooohhh, what’s it like on the pedestal high up looking down on 4 million people.

Is it cold up there? Can you give a weather forecast?

spuddy4 · 06/07/2024 00:27

@DragonFly98 I don't believe any other party wants to help people in my area. MN was up in arms earlier about the way Jess Phillips was treated by certain people last night. Imagine living like that every day, I'm absolutely fucking terrified for my daughter who's 18 because we literally have a few hundred of those people who we have to contend with every day. No one sees our problems they only want to help everyone else out, because it doesn't affect you daily you think it doesn't exist and it's the daily mail exaggerating. I really wish it was a lie made up by the media but it's life for us.

Edingril · 06/07/2024 00:27

Your post is worse than anything they have said

ILoveToCleanSaidNooneEver · 06/07/2024 00:29

I was disgusted that they got over 4 million votes. I've been wondering how I will respond to someone, who I might love, if they tell me they voted Reform?

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 06/07/2024 00:29

@spuddy4 I live in an area with loads of immigrants too. It's never been a problem. Funnily enough, they're not all the same

Shit neighbours are universal

Hdkatznahtw125sgh · 06/07/2024 00:29

I’m from an area that I feared would fall to reform or have the tories back in with people voting reform instead of Labour. I was surprised and quite proud to see an excellent Labour MP (local guy from the area who has worked so hard for it) appointed. Around 8k voted Reform in my home constituency. They were third, tories second. Labour won more votes than T and R combined.

However, whilst I am a left wing Labour supporter I can see that there is many people who feel left behind / disillusioned. Growing up so many blamed the immigrants for their troubles and complained about being ‘second class’ citizens. This concerns have only got worse. Many of them are easily led, Reform UK know this (the way the Brexit campaign did). The five seats they’ve got are in severely deprived areas that are predominantly white yet these people can’t see the irony. Life has been hard for many of these people for a long time, and whilst they blame the wrong people if life doesn’t improve they will only continue on this path.

I am so pleased that Yorkshire didn’t let reform in and that so many new and fresh MPs have been elected and so many useless Tory MPs ousted. Labour have a difficult challenge but we didn’t have Brexit/UKIP/Reform MPs in 2010 at the end of Labours last run, we had a LD/Tory Coalition so hopefully a good Labour govt can moderate some of these views. Pandering to these views and trying to become Reform Lite is not the answer, but neither is arguing and bickering on the left / centre or bringing up brexit. I’m not sure what will happen but reform are a very real and dangerous threat.

rainymcrainrain · 06/07/2024 00:30

One of my best friends voted Reform. I can't comprehend why, but im sure she has her reasons.

Sure enough you will find in yourself to feel even more smug and self righteous. If that’s even possible. After all most people are just mere mortals, it’s mot their fault they walk amongst giants like yourself.

Ah well because you are alright in your area I must be wrong. Funny how they all get sent to areas already deemed deprived until they are processed. I sincerely hope that Angela Rayner was telling the truth when she said that labour want to put them into every area of the UK while they figure out where they are going to live.

Appalonia · 06/07/2024 00:39

I think a more helpful approach would be to try and understand just why SO many pp feel so unrepresented by the main political parties than just condemning them outright. If you scratched the surface, you'd probably find much more things in common. Like, wanting affordable housing, a functioning NHS, pp being worried about the cost of living, unease about the pace of change, feeling like politicians are out of touch, etc. Farage & Co are capitalising on these very real concerns and if the conventional parties don't have any tangible solutions, pp will be drawn to parties who seem to have answers.

Listening and dialogue are the.only solutions and your attitude is just contributing to the problem I'm afraid. ( I'm not a Reform supporter just for clarity, btw )

WinterMorn · 06/07/2024 00:40

These “how could you do that/are you proud of yourself” threads are just like the Brexit ones that still come up to this day. OP, you come across as sanctimonious and very unpleasant. It’s a democracy. This is how it works. I can’t stand Reform, but I do understand why people decided to vote for them. ‘Othering’ is nothing new and we must look urgently and critically at the context in which the Reform wins have occurred if we are to prevent a further slide into the abyss.
