Steady the horses, it's an exit poll that's all.

the fat lady is warming up, not singing

😂😂😂

guinnessguzzler · 04/07/2024 23:42

Delighted to see both the Tories and SNP take a well deserved kicking.

Apparently Dorries is on C4 and appears to have been at the gin already and is talking about Boris. Tories saying the extent of landslide is disappointing and Labour have done badly as it should have been bigger.

OK then.....😂

Who the FUCK has voted for Deform UK? 13 seats 😫

I do agree a bit, lots of people just wanted the Tories out rather than being overly impressed with Labour and feeling passionate about voting for them. Although the end result is the same as in they'll have a majority and KS will be PM, I don't think they've done as well as they could have given the silver platter of the Torys destroying themselves that they were handed.

I have never had a cross post almost word for word before 🫣.

Things were bad at the end of the last Labour government and services were under tremendous strain.
Then the credit crisis hit.
Then the tory had a coalition, then austerity, and then brexit and covid and Ukraine war.

I should feel excited but I don't have any faith that my life will be better. I can only see it getting worse unfortunately for myself and my girls.
We are not a high earning family either, in fact after years of struggle I finally feel slightly better off! I think they will take my pitiful wage from me, reduce my rights and make life miserable again

You've have accurately described how I feel.

Don't rate their chances in Clacton!

Honourspren · 05/07/2024 05:10

The FPTP system is once again shown to be a farce, though. As it currently stands, Reform has had more votes than Lib Dems, but the latter have more than 10x the seats in parliament at 46 compared to Reform's 4. Greens have had more votes than most parties, more than half of Lib Dems, yet only managed to get one seat. Labour's majority isn't even that impressive when you compare actual votes.

That doesn't sit right by me.

I’m a lifelong Labour voter and have been waiting for too long for this day to come.

I hope it doesn’t take the new government long to sort out this mess.

Ditto

I'm really concerned about Reform. Protest vote or not, it's scary.

Yes, it’s worrying. I know the count is not finished, but this graph from the BBC website is quite telling…it’s very clear that Labour haven’t won - their vote has barely changed in % terms, but the Tory’s have lost big time, and Reform have made huge progress. Even the Lib Dem’s, who have far more seats, don’t really have many more votes. The Greens have done well though!

Labour win

Fewer than half the people eligible to vote in my area did.

It's shocking, really, how disaffected and disinterested people are.

ClawedUkelele · 05/07/2024 05:37

I know it has resulted in a handful of seats (which constitutes a breakthrough) but, given the Reform hype, it's surprising to see their vote share being just ~2% better than peak UKIP.

I think turnout was even less than 2019, I think I saw 60% being bandied about

Hardly surprising, though, is it?

No commiserations for the SNP here!! So glad to see they got their corrupt, lying backsides kicked! Couldn’t be happier!

Howlongdoesittake · 05/07/2024 07:05

Really pleased with the result. Sad to see Farage got in, his smiley face made me laugh tho I think in his head he was saying ‘you muppets just voted in a racist, misogynistic bigot I really can’t believe it’
shame such a low turnout but Conservatives have got a kicking and need to take a long hard look in the mirror.

Bobbybobbins · 05/07/2024 07:08

Great result! My county has gone totally red!

Hate NF but I do think he should be an MP as he is such a big political voice - he can put his money where his mouth is now.
