Its nothing but Wimbledon and Euros. I switched on for the BBC 6 o'clock news. No. Wimbledon. Every programme disrupted. Another is it three weeks of this. Every year.,

It's not the 1980s, there's more than four TV channels. Just watch something else on one of the many many TV channels or streaming services.

rainbowunicorn · 02/07/2024 22:13

Put the bbc news channel on. It is just news all day every day.

Santasbigredbobblehat · 02/07/2024 22:13

Yeah it’s annoying.

This. Or don’t watch tv - do something else!

BusyCM · 02/07/2024 22:15

It's 2 weeks max, calm down and watch a different channel or news online.

3luckystars · 02/07/2024 22:16

I think it’s lovely.

Mainoo72 · 02/07/2024 22:16

It’s only for 2 weeks. Choose one of the million other channels. Why all the drama?

Tagyoureit · 02/07/2024 22:20

Wimbledon is once a year, euros are every 4 years so yes, you're totally unreasonable that as a adult, you can't entertain yourself for a few hours in the evening without the basic four tv channels.

KnittedCardi · 02/07/2024 22:20

You can watch Tour France on Three instead. Don't forget the Olympics is on after too. Exciting times.

Or you can watch Netflix, or Amazon or Disney, or Sky...... House of the Dragon is back, it's very good.

ohthejoys21 · 02/07/2024 22:22

Me too. Why do they think the majority like watching sport?.

Me too. Why do they think the majority like watching sport?.

Because the majority do. And most of the minority that don't are capable of finding something else to watch or to do.

DeathMetalMum · 02/07/2024 22:37

YABU.

I only ever watch live tv if it's sports. I've watched the euros and Wimbledon (and the UK athletics championships at the weekend). I am thoroughly looking forward to the Olympics. Anything else I watch on catch up. There are plenty of other channels, plus I think it's quite important to watch sport live.

MirandaWest · 02/07/2024 22:38

Wimbledon is on for 2 weeks a year. There are plenty of other things you can watch.

There are lots of other things people can do, but it's tv that's being discussed.

TheDuck2018 · 02/07/2024 22:46

And the majority like watching the majority sporting events that are on at the moment. Don't forget the Tour de France has also started, and soon it will be the Olympics....

PassingStranger · 02/07/2024 22:46

Though shit it's popular and makes a nice change.

TheDuck2018 · 02/07/2024 22:47

*major!

brunettemic · 02/07/2024 22:56

Imagine if there was, oh I don’t know, multiple channels that show the news constantly you could have watched.

MasterBeth · 02/07/2024 22:56

There are at least 100 channels on your TV set. Push the button.

Bluevelvetsofa · 03/07/2024 03:40

This year, there are a lot of sporting events happening over quite a short period of time. New entertainment programmes aren’t going to be broadcast whilst they’re on, but there are repeats of popular programmes on several channels, as well as all the stuff you can stream.

I’m not interested in football or rugby or cycling, but I’ve managed to find other things and Wimbledon is just two weeks a year, so not a regular thing.

JanefromLondon1 · 03/07/2024 03:56

Oooohhh I love it. My favourite time of year. The green and white, the sounds of the umpires, the crowd cheering and the thwack of the ball, it means it's summer

The Euros, care not a jot so I get where you're coming from to a degree.

BBC News 24 is good.

JurassicClark · 03/07/2024 04:30

They bumped Sewing Bee for the tennis. Anything interfering with my Patrick Grant obsession can get in the bin here and now.

GreenWheat · 03/07/2024 04:32

Do you propose that these live sporting events are not broadcast? Or that they are on a different channel? If it's the BBC, what channel do you propose, if not their two main ones, given the high number of viewers these events attract?

It's 14 days during the summer. It's light outside and pretty nice weather. Plenty of other options for those who don't want to watch. Stop griping and accept that even if you don't, a huge number of people do want to watch the world's best sports people at live events.

Willmafrockfit · 03/07/2024 04:32

its only Tuesday!
if you were sick to death of football you might have a point but wimbledon only started on monday

VenusClapTrap · 03/07/2024 04:50

It’s very easy to avoid. I’m not interested in tennis or football and I’m barely aware these competitions are going on.
