She’s absolutely awful!

Her voice is harsh and rough, she’s out of tune and out of rhythm. Dreadful.

To use the vernacular of the young people, she absolutely killed From This Moment, it was perfect

Mini45 · 30/06/2024 16:58

I watched the Celine Dion film the other day.

She said when her voice started to go she would tap the mic and shake her head, gesture to the sound guys. Just to cover for the fact that her voice was going.

Lifeomars · 30/06/2024 16:58

Will watch on catch up, have just been watching Dexys and have to say Kevin Rowland who is now 70 is still in pretty good voice and shape, real stage presence too. It was a pleasant way to while away a bit of time and enjoy some memories, it can be a bit of a blow if they are not up to scratch or are sounding scratchy!

True but therein lies the rub - have the crowd paid $$$ to see lipsync+ backing track or to hear the real thing, warts and all.

They've paid money to sit in a field and smoke weed

magnoliablooms · 30/06/2024 16:57

You do better

I doubt if the poster is playing the legend spot

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 30/06/2024 16:59

She's like Sofia Vergara. Just realised who she has now morphed into

Appalonia · 30/06/2024 16:59

Now it's the transgender national anthem!!!😂

MartyFunkhouser · 30/06/2024 16:59

She’s reminiscent of a drunk old bird singing karaoke in my local. Actually feel sorry for her.

😂 yes, this.

PuppyMonkey · 30/06/2024 16:59

You do better Grin

Mushroo · 30/06/2024 17:00

She’s improved as it’s gone on.

Sure, her voice isn’t ‘wow’ but the crowd look to be having fun and it’s a solid set list

Samcro · 30/06/2024 17:00

Her band are good

Appalonia · 30/06/2024 17:00

Fortunately the crowd is singing this for her!

Ihaveahamster · 30/06/2024 17:01

Just singing the same alto note and allowing the backing singers to carry the melody

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 30/06/2024 17:01

Yes her band are great

WhiteWriting · 30/06/2024 17:01

Having sat through that man, I feel like a vodka. She's slower than the music.

RaraRachael · 30/06/2024 17:01

@Lifeomars I had a totally different opinion of Dexy's performance .
Funny how people hear things differently isn't it?

LDNtiliDie · 30/06/2024 17:01

Right, enjoyed that last one but the football is on!

Just singing the same alto note and allowing the backing singers to carry the melody

Yes I noticed that.

Mykittensmittens · 30/06/2024 17:01

It’s her timing which is very slightly out - there is a problem with her earpiece it’s obvious to anyone who’s ever used one and sang with any background noise. She’s fractionally behind the music and that’s distorted everything. On the ballads the notes don’t move as quickly so it doesn’t pronounce as badly. That plus the alteration to her voice down to her illness and it’s a bad mix. She’s also singing some familiar bits in different key, presumably to accommodate the change to her voice.

(I’m not a fan, but I do come from a family with more that one person who does stage and concert singing and have spent a lot of my life around live music)

FailBetter · 30/06/2024 17:03

They should have grabbed Girls Aloud for this slot.

SilverSimca · 30/06/2024 17:03

soupfiend · 30/06/2024 16:50

Is it? If thats what she sounds like? Sounds just like an off the cuff comparison to me, nothing significant.

In public, yes, I do think it's not nice, quite apart from the misogyny. Do I think she is singing brilliantly? No, but I'm still entertained.Would I describe her on a public forum which she could read as being like a "drunk old bird"? No. "She is singing as if she is drunk", fine. "Old bird", rude.

MartyFunkhouser · 30/06/2024 17:03

The comments on Twitter are hilarious.

JaneJeffer · 30/06/2024 17:03

Or maybe it's the fact she keeps fiddling with it

Kitkat1523 · 30/06/2024 17:04

PurplePanda1 · 30/06/2024 16:18

I suppose at least we know she’s singing live 😂

🤣🤣🤣
