She’s absolutely awful!

Her voice is harsh and rough, she’s out of tune and out of rhythm. Dreadful.

IIRC her voice was damaged by a brush with a horrible virus (Lymes disease? from a tickbite?) but she can still stride a stage.

Can people suffer from Lymes disease?

She's definitely trailing off the last words of each sentence or something. It's strange!

Yes she was, like she'd forgotten the lyrics. Maybe her vocal chords were strained from the lymes and she'd peaked

Not as bad as Dexys Midnight Runners yesterday, oh god.

She really doesn't look or sound like Shania Twain though.

I didn't recognise Shania either. The lead singer of Dexys midnight runners - his make up was bizarre lol. I didn't know who they were either, till they performed 'Come on Eileen' lol.

She played in Belfast and Dublin last week and everyone raved about her.
maybe her voice is tired

JustAnotherDadOf2 · 01/07/2024 20:40

Agree, I thought it was just me being miserable. I wonder if she couldn't heart herself, cos she seemed out of time as well as rough and out of tune. Reading other posts, it seems there's been health issues and surgery. I guess she's happy to take the money though. Crowd seemed to love it.

Well, I actually went and watched Shania Twain, having read the negative comments and, I have to say that I didn’t think her voice was that bad!
I think the fault was with the sound system ( not technical so I wouldn’t want to say what), but my husband who used to be in a band himself, said that the balance was out. I thought her voice was drowned out a lot of the time by the backing and that she seemed to be having trouble with her ear piece so maybe not hearing herself clearly?
whatever, I certainly didn’t think she was as bad as some of the comments above are making out!

Remember they edit performances before they are uploaded to iPlayer so they could have fixed it to sound better by the time you saw it. The live version would have been different.

I quite literally thought her throat had been damaged by an actual brush to begin with when I read your post😂

Personally I loved it, thought she was great and very humble too, she was clearly in awe of the crowd and being at Glasto

I’ve just watched James at Glastonbury on iplayer, they started 40 years ago and sound great.

40 years! That's one long setlist, most acts get 20 minutes.

😉

Yes started as a band I mean 😆
