I think an awful lot of you are going to be shocked come 5th July.

Lots and lots of people I speak to are voting Reform, younger people too. I think people are fed up of swinging between labour and conservatives and essentially getting ‘same shit, different government’.

People are so disillusioned that they’re going to say ‘shit or bust’ and vote for the extreme. Just to execute change.

Surely this just depends on where you live and who you speak to?

We live in South Norfolk. On paper it’s pure Tory. You drive along the A140 and there’s Reform signs everywhere.

My dd is at university in Nottingham. Everyone there is voting Labour. Her group (age 20s) are all voting Green. They’d rather stick pins in their eyes than vote Reform or Tory.

It’s short sighted to suggest voting patterns are the same all over the U.K. - they’re not.

HRTQueen · 30/06/2024 11:02

I have been listening to a lot of political podcasts and Reform are picking up interest with younger people and the Reform campaign is doing well on TikTok (but it’s almost made for parties like Reform as similar pattern in Europe and again far right parties are gaining support with younger voters we need to understand what this is about)

good thing is young people are far less likely to vote (for once a positive)

DontBiteTheCat · 30/06/2024 11:02

Despair132 · 30/06/2024 11:01

Right….. yep very dangerous… you keep believing what your told to believe.

Ahh I see now, you’re joking! Nobody can be this stupid surely?

Also, it’s you’re, not your.

nomoretoriesforme · 30/06/2024 11:03

Yes, tactically voting for Reform. This is the only way to change our political system.

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/06/2024 11:04

@Ihaveahamster I get that some people have that attitude. Indeed a lot of that thinking drove the Brexit vote. How is that working out for the angry left behinds?

Reform is backed and funded by a millionaire member of the establishment. Ever get the feeling you've been played?

Purplebunnie · 30/06/2024 11:04

I would not vote for Farage if he was the last person standing on the planet. It's all about how wonderful he is, just listen to the interviews. "I was the first ...." etc etc. He's Trump without the orange skin and yellow hair. He's the person who engineered Brexit - how well did that work out

AbigailisPartiedOut · 30/06/2024 11:04

They keep repeating that they want to defend "british culture and values" nowhere do they tell me what they believe British culture and values are. I wonder why. Nigel Farage also thinks Andrew tate is a suitable role model for young men. So yes, I think yabu. Vote for whoever you like, but personally, I wouldn't even use their "contract" to wipe my arse with.

Despair132 · 30/06/2024 11:05

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/06/2024 11:00

@Despair132 I am not sure where to start with this. Do you know the difference between legal migration, illegal immigration and refugees/asylum seekers?

Aso if, in your view, 90% of immigrants are young single men how come you also think they are unable to work, young single men famously being a group that are highlymobile and fit to work? Indeed familes often send young men as immigrants precisely due to their ability to work and provide for family "back home". It is true asylum seekers are legally prevented from working by the government but they are only a tiny proportion of immigrants.

I work in a highly skilled job in London, a fair number of my colleagues are foreign born nationals with right to remain (from all over - Europe, America, Canada, Africa, India) and are highly skilled, higher rate tax payers.

Except guess what they are not working because they have to apply for right to work in uk. Ofc there are legal immigrants don’t have a problem at all with that of course legal migration is fine.I’m guessing you don’t live next to any of the migrant hotels. They are just outside smoking and walking about and doing nothing all day please can you tel me who pays for that? I’m saying I don’t want to pay for that anymore why is that a problem? Also doesn’t help twice now we have had to advise our students after 3 events involving sexual harassment as they are leaving school. So ye I’d rather things change shoot me

BitchesBeSniffin · 30/06/2024 11:05

Despair132 · 30/06/2024 11:01

Right….. yep very dangerous… you keep believing what your told to believe.

There’s enough information put out there by Andrew Tate himself for people to make up their own opinion without needing to be told what to believe.

Just as you have.

Happyinarcon · 30/06/2024 11:05

Both the major parties are trying to not get elected and the main viable alternative is supposedly full of extremists. What a strange situation, it’s like no party represents anyone.

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/06/2024 11:05

@HRTQueen ahh yes, people who get their political news and views from TikTok, a notoriously well informed and thoughtful cohort.

2dogsandabudgie · 30/06/2024 11:06

MeinKraft · 30/06/2024 10:41

Well it depends. Do you think that migrants coming over in small boats should be used as target practice? If so, crack on. Maybe drop by a tattoo parlour and get a swastika on your arm while you're at it.

Is that in their manifesto? I don't think so.

RubySloth · 30/06/2024 11:07

MeadowL · 30/06/2024 10:59

A big problem today is that a lot of people get their news from ultra left wing organisations like the BBC and they become indoctrinated and they brand anyone different as a racist or facist.

You do, you. Why everyone has to keep announcing who they will vote for is beyond me.

SomersetBrie · 30/06/2024 11:08

Despair132 · 30/06/2024 10:29

Not at all, everyone I know is voting reform. Don’t believe everything you read obviously there is a force to stop people voting for change.

What change do you think you will get by voting Reform?

OatFlatWhiteForMe · 30/06/2024 11:08

Despair132 · 30/06/2024 10:46

It’s funny because your liberal socialist kind are happy until you run out of other peoples money. The world doesn’t run on kindness and compassion. People have to work to make society function and if you have a large population of newcomers who are unable to work coming with their dependants. 4.3 million people in last few years is it a wonder why people are not able to get appointments all over the country. Tel you what fine let’s take the current situation to its logical conclusion what do you think people who have been claiming government assistance will vote for in future more of the same? Once the tipping point is reached which I would argue already has with not enough homes being built children not being able to afford to get on housing ladder. No dentists access at all up and down country. Crime increases strangely mostly around high illega migrant population areas. Btw this is before you mention that the new arrivals in 3 years have been 90% single men. You keep voting with your feelings and watch what happens to the country.

My husband and I pay higher rate tax, we would be happy to pay a bit more to improve essential services.

I am a human, I assume you are too. What gives us more right to basic human rights than any other human being? If we were in the throws of war I would want another country to offer us safe passage as a family, this includes my son who would be classed as a ‘single man’.

We need jobs, not more privatisation. We need a living wage as standard. We need better state education, the NHS off its knees and child poverty eradicated. I know this cost money but I also know we have money. Tax the wealthy, close non dom loopholes and ensure corporations doing business in the UK are paying tax too.

Ionacat · 30/06/2024 11:09

DontBiteTheCat · 30/06/2024 10:42

Is that your counter argument to a clear and intelligent post?

I agree!
What’s bizarre is @Despair132 couldn‘t be further from the truth - I get my news from a variety of reputable sites because I’m aware of political bias!
Source Reform Uk is a company not a party, see Companies House and various news articles including the Independent.
Source Reform UK’s manifesto is not funded properly and therefore undeliverable, see full fact check. They’re not the only party to publish things that are undeliverable to be fair.)

Gorgonemilezola · 30/06/2024 11:09

Despair132 · 30/06/2024 10:58

Is it funny you cry toxic masculinity but when you’re in danger who would you rather come to save you a toxic masculine man or a guy who is afraid of violence? The hypocrisy is so obvious.

Dear lord.

And the very danger you want saving from would in all probability be caused by toxic masculinity of the Tate variety in the first place.

Anyone who thinks Andrew Tate would save anyone except himself is deluded. He's a nasty piece of abusive shit.

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/06/2024 11:10

@Despair132 So how will Reform do this differently? We have mechaisms to address illegal immigration and to process asylum claims. Mechanisms that currently do not work well due to chronic underfunding and an inabilty to work positively with the French government on the issue of small boats (which BTW is a tiny tiny proportion of irregular immigration).

It is almost like this is a complex multi factoral issue that doesn't get solved with over arching statements.

How do you think Reform will make changes to any of this?

TizerorFizz · 30/06/2024 11:11

Green is all well and good as a non tax paying student. For others they don’t make sense so they don’t get many seats.

Reform - depends where you live. Protest votes like UKIP don’t usually lead to seats. I don’t want Farage near Uk politics. He’s already ruined too much and people think he’s the way forward?! Ludicrous in the extreme. Op if you want to join the nasty far right, do, but hopefully you will think again and go for people who could actually govern rather than shout and think they have the simplistic answers. They don’t.

We decided to take this one down.

Gorgonemilezola · 30/06/2024 11:13

As opposed to the thousands of women (and men) who are sexually assaulted by white British blokes every year you mean.

Lolapusht · 30/06/2024 11:13

The wonderful thing about living in a democracy is that you can vote for who you want and anyone else’s opinion doesn’t matter.

Can’t stand Farage/Reform, Tories have destroyed the country, Labour is going to destroy women’s rights, Libs and Greens are even worse with added anti-semitism. Thankfully we have an excellent independent candidate who will be getting my vote 😀

Fill your boots OP, vote for who you want.

PToosher · 30/06/2024 11:14

I was in our local cricket club this week, men and women in there of all ages, all sorts of backgrounds. Politics is usually off the agenda but someone started a discussion and the majority of people there were planning to vote Reform.
