The whole point of democracy is that you choose who to vote for and you can make that choice for any reason you want.

What your friend, family or people on internet forums you visit think you should vote for is neither here nor there. Note: I’m not telling you my voting intentions, questioning your reasoning behind your voting intentions or moralising about different political parties. I’m not even adding those things as a caveat after my first sentence. You get one vote. It is yours and yours alone.

The problem is that in order to get to the UK the migrants, and many of them are economic migrants, have travelled through many safe countries, so they don't need to risk their lives or their children's and make the journey across the channel. The only people who benefit are the traffickers.

Uncontrolled immigration has been happening for years, it got worse under Tony Blair's Labour with his open door policy. I always repeat this on here but remember the protests by British tradesmen because they couldn't find work? Remember Gordon Brown's promise of British jobs for British workers which didn't happen. Free movement only works between countries if they have similar economies, when you get poorer countries like Romania and Poland it's obvious that their workers will migrate to the countries with better wages. But it puts a strain on housing, schools, health services etc.

When people in the UK tried to express their concern they were shut down by being branded racist or a bigot. This is what led to Brexit. You only have to look at the insults on this thread to see that it's still happening. People don't want to discuss anything and that is when it becomes dangerous.

Another one confusing asylum seeking with immigration. They aren’t interchangeable terms and asylum seekers are a tiny fraction of those migrating to the U.K. This means all your points are meaningless, really.

No way!!

midgetastic · 30/06/2024 11:30

I thought the evidence was that the BEEB had given more coverage to the extreme right than was warranted by their size and expectations?

Facts never matter to sone people thought just their feelings

Waffle78 · 30/06/2024 11:31

Definitely not all Nigel Farage goes on about is immigration. On one of the TV debates he brought up housing then brought up immigration as well. I can't stand him they have no seats in parliament for a reason. They would be shit running a country.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 30/06/2024 11:31

Goady bollocks that should be in the election section
I will be so glad when this shit is over

Despair132 · 30/06/2024 11:05

Except guess what they are not working because they have to apply for right to work in uk. Ofc there are legal immigrants don’t have a problem at all with that of course legal migration is fine.I’m guessing you don’t live next to any of the migrant hotels. They are just outside smoking and walking about and doing nothing all day please can you tel me who pays for that? I’m saying I don’t want to pay for that anymore why is that a problem? Also doesn’t help twice now we have had to advise our students after 3 events involving sexual harassment as they are leaving school. So ye I’d rather things change shoot me

You know they are in hotels because Tories have deliberately all but halted asylum hearings/investigations to create a wedge issue? If they were assessed those who were found genuine could work and contribute and those who weren’t could be removed. Tories made this problem. Do you think these people want t9 live in these hotels, stuck with no opportunities?

A big problem today is that a lot of people get their news from ultra left wing organisations like the BBC and they become indoctrinated and they brand anyone different as a racist or facist.

The BBC being called an ultra left wing organisation is hilarious 😂

If you think the BBC is an ultra left wing organisation, you are either very dim or verging on fascist yourself. What ultra left wing broadcaster employs right wingers like Nick Robinson and Laura Kuenssberg on prominent political programmes? What left wing broadcaster televises every royal event, has a prayer for the day, shows C of E church services, to say nothing of programmes like Antiques Roadshow, Gardeners' World, Strictly, Masterchef, Escape to the Country, to say nothing of all those capitalist quiz shows offering money prizes?

2dogsandabudgie · 30/06/2024 11:32

Ionacat · 30/06/2024 11:09

I agree!
What’s bizarre is @Despair132 couldn‘t be further from the truth - I get my news from a variety of reputable sites because I’m aware of political bias!
Source Reform Uk is a company not a party, see Companies House and various news articles including the Independent.
Source Reform UK’s manifesto is not funded properly and therefore undeliverable, see full fact check. They’re not the only party to publish things that are undeliverable to be fair.)

To be honest I don't think Reform believe they will win this election, Farage has already said that Labour are going to win, but they could end up as the opposition, and I think they are looking to 5 years from now.

Mrsdyna · 30/06/2024 11:32

Yes, I'm voting reform. I was going to vote Labour but not anymore.

tennesseewhiskey1 · 30/06/2024 11:33

Vote for who you want - I won’t be voting for them.

Mouswife · 30/06/2024 11:33

It’s democracy and you should vote for who represents your interests and your views. Everyone should vote for the party they align with, and don’t let anyone bully you otherwise.

RoseUnder · 30/06/2024 11:33

Reform can't win, but enough votes make a pathway for Farage to join the Tories and become leader of the Opposition.

Farage is not a million miles off Hitler.

Chartreux · 30/06/2024 11:34

Despair132 · 30/06/2024 10:34

Do you even know what a fascist is? It’s someone who tries to shut down the freedom and choice of others. I wonder who fits that description?

Maybe the Reform candidates who want to shoot people for being the wrong colour?

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 30/06/2024 11:34

Beefandwine · 30/06/2024 11:26

Read their manifesto and vote for them if you want to see those policies enacted.

I am voting for them, as is all of my family and my neighbours, and no we're not all racist. Wanting to secure your borders is not racist, no matter what left leaning liberals say. The immigration policy is not the only reason why I'm voting for them, I've read their manifesto.

And what did you think about losing the Equality act which will erode protection of women’s pay and opportunities in the workplace ?

And if you ever get incapacitated you’ll be forced into low-paid unskilled work after two offers, and there will be absolutely no recourse because the impartial court which protects us all will no longer be available.

And your healthcare will be privatised and for profit and literally extortionate, so you will become enslaved to that terrible job to cover the outrageous costs of basic care.

And isolationist policies like leaving ECHR and WHO (even North Korea is a member) further weaken the UK internationally. If I were Mr Vladimir Putin I would be very happy to see Britain torn away from alliances like the weakest gazelle.

The borders thing is such bollocks. They could fix it now if they wanted to through closer partnerships with Europe, but it’s a useful wedge issue they use to get carte-blanche on eroding your rights.

Mad to think you believe this is a good idea. It’s fundamentally anti-British but packaged up and sold to you as a “great patriotic revolt”.

cardibach · 30/06/2024 11:35

2dogsandabudgie · 30/06/2024 11:32

I’d be totally astonished if they were the opposition. Most reputable polls suggest about 3 seats. There’s the odd outlier, but it would be truly astonishing if that proved to be the outcome. Farage doesn’t even want to win. He’s a disruptor. He doesn’t do hard work - look at his record when he was an MEP. He initially said he wouldn’t stand in Clacton because ‘who wants to spend every Friday in Clacton for 5 years?’ He’s vile in all ways.

Do you believe that the people coming over in small boats are asylum seekers?

Barleysugar86 · 30/06/2024 11:35

The leaflet through our door says they want to turn around boats in the Channel and send them back to France. People- children- drown on those boats. The premise that they get rescued if we find them is the bare minimum of civilized people surely. I feel like anyone choosing Reform must be quite hateful sorry.

SnakesAndArrows · 30/06/2024 11:36

Despair132 · 30/06/2024 10:29

Not at all, everyone I know is voting reform. Don’t believe everything you read obviously there is a force to stop people voting for change.

What, you mean we shouldn’t believe their own manifesto and the words that come out of Farage’s mouth?

Chartreux · 30/06/2024 11:36

Despair132 · 30/06/2024 10:39

God people like you are so easy to fool with a setup video. You are the typical sheep who believe everything they see on the bbc.

Have you actually looked at the Reform manifesto, let alone read it all the way through? You don't have to look at any videos to work out that it would cost billions of pounds to deliver. If they were in power we would have soaring inflation and bills within weeks, and would be bankrupt within 6 months.

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/06/2024 11:36

@Beefandwine apart from the immigration stuff, which policies are you keen on?

EasternStandard · 30/06/2024 11:37

Mrsdyna · 30/06/2024 11:32

Yes, I'm voting reform. I was going to vote Labour but not anymore.

sorry quoted wrong person

countrygirl99 · 30/06/2024 11:37

Why would you vote for a limited company that is owned by a few people. What makes you the they give a toss about you.
I've actually met Farage and found him arrogant and condescending to the women present.
