The absolute irony of those of you saying women’s rights are key for you but in the same breath how you’ll be turning up simply to spoil a ballot.

greengreyblue · 04/07/2024 07:17

Quite!
A vote for Tories is the British equivalent of a vote for Trump. Law breakers don’t inspire me.

Well, who the fuck do I vote for, then?
Cannot bring myself to vote Tory after the shambles they have overseen.
Will not vote Reform as disagree with most of what they stand for.
Labour, LibDems and Greens don't understand basic biology.

That's my choice. Fucking fantastic.

Edited to add, I would have voted for the Labour bloke as he DID seem to understand basic biology, but is proving very much a party man on a serious local issue and therefore will probably ultimately toe the line on all the bollocks.

AlfrescoPotato · 04/07/2024 07:58

Still not got a clue and I’m planning to go on the way to work shortly.
What a mess!

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 04/07/2024 08:07

If you’re not sure then vote Labour.

Conservatives have screwed it up and destroyed public services.

Lib dem & Green are too small and cannot form a government.

Reform are shady Russian-linked criminals stealing your vote for Putin.

Labour is focused on improving public services and is the only party capable of government.

Depends how much you want a change in government.
If that's something you want a lot vote Labour
If not, vote Green as a protest. At a high level will be interpreted across as more pro-environment than pro-trans and its a protest vote.
Unless you are in Brighton or Bristol very unlikely Green will get in so the risk of getting a pro trans MP is really very low

Sunshineandrainbow · 04/07/2024 08:13

Labour ❤

CassieMaddox · 04/07/2024 08:16

I'm voting Labour too. Beautiful day here.

Adviceneeeeded · 04/07/2024 09:17

At this point I don't think it matters who you vote for! If you want tories out just vote tactically for your area.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 03/07/2024 22:46

Correct. And transwomen are by far the most likely to be victims of an attack in a public toilet than perpetrators.

Do you have the statistics to back this up? Or is this based on Stonewall propaganda, because I’m not hearing a lot about women attacking males (however they identify) in public toilets/female only spaces.

FluffyDiplodocus · 04/07/2024 10:18

I voted labour, but was honestly on the fence until the last moment. I don’t really love any of the options on the table! In the end I selfishly just thought about my family rather than the bigger picture (we’re not high earners, I’m a teacher, my son has ASD, both kids are in primary school) - I suspect a labour government will be better for us, so that’s the way I voted in the end!

It’s the first time in my life I’ve ever been so indecisive though.

Of course. Have a read of the article linked below which highlights that transgender women, especially those using public restrooms, are more likely to be victims of harassment and violence. It discusses the stigma and risks associated with using gender-segregated public facilities, and does not find evidence or suggest that trans women are likely to be perpetrators of violence in public restrooms.

I will not be paying £30 to read an an American article of which the abstract doesn’t allude to trans people facing violence in female shared spaces at all. If anything, that abstract seems to be propaganda towards why women’s spaces should be used as a safety net for men who identify differently. Along with the offensive adage that ‘well women being attacked in female only spaces rarely happens, so sod the few we’ll use as collateral damage’.

Continue to live in your fantasy world then. You were the one asking for evidence.

What you linked isn’t evidence, it’s like you googled ‘trans and bathrooms’ and shared the first link going. It’s not relevant to any of the points I raised, it’s not even relevant to the politics of this country.

Ok since you’ve evidently paid for this article, you can share what parts you believe to be relevant to my original question.

Your original question was “do you have the statistics to back this up” ? And just to remind us all, what I claimed was that transgender people are more likely to be victims of violent crime than perpetrators of it, including in public bathrooms.

My answer is yes. I have statistics, it’s all in the paper. I have a copy of it available through my University for free. There are not many studies like this, I don’t think US vs UK makes a huge difference and I stand by my claim. Transgender people are more likely to be victims of violent crime than perpetrators.

Conclusion attached.
