To wonder when the excess of dogs will die down

There's so much shit everywhere

There are so many feral horrible dogs pissing on front doors or prams or shop displays and barking terrifyingly at kids

I am sick of them!!!!! Is this it or will people learn their post COVID lesson and only get pets they can actually handle in the future?

Dogs will eat poo. Especially cat poo. Which is one of the reasons I think allowing cats out to shit in other people’s gardens is really awful. Lots of animals will eat other animals poo as well. It’s not unusual.

Shaketherombooga · 28/07/2024 09:08

This thread has made me want to go and get another dog, dogs are great!

Shaketherombooga · 28/07/2024 09:08

We have one - trained, friendly, fun, and yes we pick up after it.

Will you be eating up from the rolling poo box you dream of @brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ?

Maybe the shitbox could pick some back up, mix it with acid and “vomit” it back out again.

Like you know, dogs do.

My shitbox accurately simulates how other people experience your dog. All the negative externalities reproduced in high fidelity. The joy you experience from owning your dog is mainly limited to just you. But the downsides are shared with all of us.

I don’t really do this, it’s a thought experiment.

But dog owners really do it. That’s nuts.

To improve the simulation, it needs to leave fur and exhale allergens so a good 15% or so of the population can’t even be in the same room as it without serious risk to their health.

FWIW I do think that dog etiquette seems to be optional where I live.

Speaking as an owner of a large dog, it angers me when I see dogs peeing everywhere (countryside excluded).
We very rarely take our dog into town or other urban areas because it's just not necessary.

A few weeks ago we stopped in Barcelona on our way home so took the dog out from our hotel first thing so he could do his business.

I obviously had poo bags, but was spotted when he weed on the pavement (quite rightly!)

I was quickly rounded on by three dog walkers screaming at me in Spanish because I didn't carry a bottle of water to wash the pee away.

I felt ashamed , but you know what, they are right.
I'd never seen it as a problem til then.
Now always carry a small bottle of water to wash away any pee.

Some countries have far better etiquette than we do.

What? That she’s insane? I think we do.

Read this thread and you get IT.

Very vocal and extreme dog haters need somewhere to vent. They've found it.

In RL they'd be RIDICULOUS. But good luck to them.

Get it off your chests guys.

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 12:08

Maybe the 'bulge ' of dog ownership will reduce and there will a smaller% of dogs again.

There's probably always going to be posters like this.

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 12:09

A few more posts left.

Let it all OUTTTTTTT.

MaMisled · 28/07/2024 12:12

It's not the amount of dogs that bothers me, it's the amount of poor deprived souls who have never experienced the deep, joyful, unquestioning love that exists between most dogs and their owners.

Why do you? I don’t like cats.

They shit in other people’s gardens. They are let out knowing 100% they will go in other people’s gardens and public areas and definitely won’t get picked up.

My friend is severely allergic and has to cover her patio furniture every night to stop local cats sleeping on it. In her own garden. And if she wants to sit out and her husband isn’t home to take the cover off and check the patio furniture. She can’t. In her own garden.

They are very damaging to local wildlife and there’s tons of strays and feral cats in the UK as a result of poor pet ownerships.

However, I appreciate some people like them. I don’t need a space to vent about it. It’s weird. I don’t need to fantasise about being able to go round and shit in people’s flower beds or sleep in their sheds or kill small animals.

It is weird.

I’m quite open about my intense dislike of pet dogs in RL too.

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 12:26

Why do you? I don’t like cats.

I'm fine . There are few things that annoy me too but I'm probably in the minority and get it.
And certainly I don't expect everyone to love my dog or even like him. But he is allowed in public 🤷‍♀️and I stick to the rules.

No my point is these are extremists trying to make out they are holding a common point of view.

ShouldhavebeencalledAppollo · 28/07/2024 12:31

Theres quite a few ‘dog fest’ events all over the UK.

Maybe people should organise a dog free fest. Get the rage out one weekend a year!

sunglassesonthetable · 28/07/2024 12:32

And I'd love to see you and your " equivalent accurate simulation " rolling poo box in Real Life.

Because you and the " accurate simulation " would be being loaded into a police van whilst I walked past with my dog.

While screaming ‘dogs can poo in the street, why can’t I? I want the same rights as dogs!’

K0OLA1D · 28/07/2024 12:48

And to round it off. We are off out with my lovely dog now. Plan to stop off at the pub on the way home.

Have a lovely Sunday!
