Unfortunately I can't link to her clip, but she's a star and a hero. She pinned him down and cut through the "twaddle". I am a swing voter and would have been proud of a mntter holding any mp to account on an important issue like Jane did. Jane is/was even trending on twitter.

Has he ever said why making GRC so much easier and faster to obtain is so much more important than protecting women and children?

Isn't they process we have now simply the best compromise even though it's not perfect?

Currently this is a two year process with sign off from a medical board. Labour will make it more or less immediate following a consultation with just 1 GP.

Not even one GP - a single specialist doctor giving a diagnosis of gender dysphoria.

I wonder who those doctors will be. And how often they will refuse to provide the desired diagnosis.

doctors like this perhaps

Jane kept interrupting and did not let KS actually answer the question. If she had let him answer maybe we would have had a better idea whether his position is evolving or not.

Edited

He's had more than enough time to 'evolve' his position, he has refused point blank to talk to any women or women's groups have requested to meet with him on the subject.

He refuses to provide clarity because he is more than happy with men accessing women's spaces, it is exactly what the GRA intended it is working as it was intended and predicted and KS is very proud of that legislation.

Frankly why should a politician have to evolve his position on women's rights? It should be a given that women should have and deserve rights and that the right to single sex spaces that exclude all men full stop is standard practice not something that has to be argued for, pleaded for and justified it should just be accepted that that is what is required and what women need and deserve.

RebelMoon · 29/06/2024 12:01

Next to never. They'll not want to deal with the inevitable tantrum that will ensue.

Absolutely agree. This isn’t about the better party to represent the country, it’s about who’s ’not the Tories’. Depressing all round and we will all lose because of it (not just on women’s rights).

Yes I agree.

Yep.

He's said something about the process being 'unnecessary' and distressing those going through it. No thought to those who'll suffer the consequences though.

But the best approach would be tightening up any sex based legal definitions to mean biological sex only.

No one should be able to falsify their sex on a legal document for any reason. If people want the option of adding 'trans identified' on their legal docs, then no issue with that. But the sex should never change.

Dignity apparently and that is paramount, bugger dignity for women though that is not in the least important.

Wheresthebeach · 29/06/2024 12:06

He's a snake. Just look at the treatment of Rosie Duffield. I'm delighted the clip is getting so much attention - women need to understand what's at stake when Labour win the election. Dangerous times for women everywhere.

What's even the criteria? As there's no definition of what 'being a woman' is 🫠

Absolutely agree. All this talk about trans rights they are the only section of the population that can falsify a legal document that is designed to record factual information which also unilaterally changes the history and facts of the woman who gave birth to them. They have a right no-one else has, no-one else can alter that record in any way - can't change the place of their birth, date of their birth, the names or details of their parents.

EmpressOfTheThread · 29/06/2024 12:09

I don't particularly like him.
I don't think "the sun shines out of his arse".
I just want a Labour government. So that's where my vote is going. He's not perfect, but about a million times better than anyone in the Conservative governments for the past 14 years.

Well yeah exactly. This is what I don't understand about the whole argument. It's basically saying someone's dignity is more important than another's. I know this is the whole point of the argument, but I've never actually heard any politician say it. They just keep implying that it's because women hate transwomen for no reason

Fair enough. But if you think this issue is important, please be aware that he does not and take opportunities to hold them to account when you can.

Anyway, they'll be a self-selecting cohort.

Any doctor who has doubts or who won't want the hassle if a diagnosis is refused on good grounds simply won't offer to act as a specialist in the process.

Which will leave just the true believers.

I want to have investment in education, health and care. I want a government with a moral compass. I want our nation to be a meritocracy, not a system of privilege of wealth and cronyism. By the very nature of Conservative policy, women miss out. I am well aware of all the issues. I have been a socialist and a feminist since I was a teenager some 50 years ago.
I cannot waste my vote at such a crucial time, so Labour it has to be.

I'm not sure why you're telling me all this, I didn't suggest you don't vote Labour

This whole thread is trying to put people off voting Labour. It is intended to alarm women and turn them away from Starmer. Perhaps not you personally, but some of these posts, definitely.

You think that women have been treated well under the last Conservative governments?

Wheresthebeach · 29/06/2024 12:19

Since Starmer doesn't care about women's rights I don't think he's capable of protecting vulnerable women or working in the interest of women. I can't think of a more important issue than our rights, which Labour will trample on in order to keep the TRA's happy.

No. It's driving awareness of their position on this topic.

Don't you think it a good thing that people know what they're voting for?

Plenty of people are still voting Labour, but want to start asking questions of their candidate and holding them to account on this issue.

Personally, I think that's much more positive than just putting your head in the sand. IF you think women's rights to their own spaces are important.

He doesn't care about women's rights?
By investing in healthcare, education, by tackling the energy issues, the profiteering of energy companies, by holding people responsible for the millions lost to cronies during covid re PPE?
All these have hit us hard, and women are at the sharp end of care and the CoL.
This is an attempt to turn people off voting Labour.

No but they are at least agreeing that Biological sex matters.

Frankly it frying pan or fire time at the moment. Not a single good option.

JaneVapeman · 29/06/2024 12:24

Unfortunately and sadly I think this is going to reflect the treatment of the girls in Rotherham under labour where they could not be honest and open about the abuse because of fear of being callers racist (everyone around them who heard their stories or tried to help them )

I fear a flood gate will open and honesty will be surpressed because of fear of being labeled transphobic. These issues are deep and complicated. We are still unpicking and dealing with the problems in Rotherham but at least it's in the open.

Re is starmer clever, well, I am not sure he has the right kind of intelligence I would like to see in a leader.

Either he doesn't know genuinely get this issue, and I really don't believe he does or he's trapped by a stonewall doner.
