Unfortunately I can't link to her clip, but she's a star and a hero. She pinned him down and cut through the "twaddle". I am a swing voter and would have been proud of a mntter holding any mp to account on an important issue like Jane did. Jane is/was even trending on twitter.

Oh no, a woman being rude to a man who wants to make it easier for his fellow men to invade female spaces. She should have put in her best Lady Di voice and apologise intermittently for having an opinion that opposed his. Then conceded she was wrong of course.

Of course she's free to put her opinion in any voice/way she pleases.

She was not speaking for all women though. It's that I object to so do not try to make it sound like I was saying she should be deferrential.

EasternStandard · 29/06/2024 10:10

Churchview · 29/06/2024 10:00

I thought it was arrogant of Jane to think she was speaking for 51% of the population. Women are not all of one mind on this.

Nor would many women have been rude enough to use the phrase "sick of the absolute twaddle that comes out of your mouth". Just rude.

Nonsense. It was arrogant and rude of Starmer to try and peddle rehashed bollocks

She stopped him perfectly

I've seen a clip on another interview of KS offering to meet with JK Rowling. Am I alone in finding it bizarre that he offers to meet with a multimillionaire who (AFAIK) has never asked to meet with him, but he hasn't met with Rosie Duffield, Lesbian Labour, Joan Smith and other Labour women?

That’s a point Rowling drew his attention to.

Isn’t it a shame that journalists don’t feel particularly compelled to interview those women or editors allow them front page space for their views. And doesn’t it feel that Starmer has fully embraced the politician persona of focusing on optics over substance and evading questions he doesn’t want to answer. He now reminds me of Nick Wilde in Zootopia.

She said, "You need to think about 51% of the population who are sick of the absolute twaddle that comes out of your mouth when we ask these questions."

She was speaking as though all women think the same on the issue.
We don't all think the same.
Even if we do, we wouldn't say what she said.

Out of interest, do you not believe that women prisoners, rape victims, domestic violence victims who want single sex spaces away from men should be entitled to them?

What about disabled women needing intimate care? Shouldn't they have the right to request that being women only?

Because this is what this is about.

Even if you don't think you'd ever care about it yourself if you were in this position, wouldn't you be supportive of the women who do?

EasternStandard · 29/06/2024 10:11

Churchview · 29/06/2024 10:08

Not as rude as allowing rapists into women's prisons or men like Dolatowski into women's toilets to attack children

It is the Conservatives who have been allowing that over the past years. Not Keir Starmer.

The GRA is Labour as is Starmer who cannot answer clearly without resorting to deflection

All women and girls are at 9 times* more risk of sexual assault in mixed sex spaces. Of course not all women and girls realise that we are vulnerable until it happens. Letting any male person who wants to enter women's spaces gain access just by saying some magic words will be a safeguarding disaster.

Single sex spaces aren't perfect, they don't keep out all bad men, any more than wearing a seatbelt protects you in any accident. But if you wear a seatbelt and you choose one for your daughters, then you already understand why single sex spaces are vital for you and your daughters.

*At least 9 times more at risk - possibly 18 times more risk.

Unisex changing rooms put women at danger of sexual assault, data reveals

The vast majority of reported sexual assaults at public swimming pools in the UK take place in unisex changing rooms, new statistics reveal.

Yes. Yes.
I am supportive of the women who do and always will be.

I'm not supportive of Jane saying she spoke for all women. She didn't.

JaneVapeman · 29/06/2024 10:13

@Summerhillsquare.. She doesn't need to provide a valid argument for sex based rights 😱
Secondly she did give him space to reply but she clearly wanted to hear real answers not repetition about his championing agaisnt rape and violence. Which, is not at all relevant and a total deflection, gas lighting patronising thing to keep, doing.

Jane was speaking for women’s rights. And since 51% of the country are women, it’s not unreasonable to believe the huge majority of us do want to keep our rights. Just because some women believe those with penises should be allowed to do as they please under the guise of also being a woman, doesn’t mean that sex based rights do not affect them either.

But what do you disagree with Jane on?

Oblomov24 · 29/06/2024 10:17

@Churchview

51% of the population

"We don't all think the same."

Which bits specifically are you disputing / disagreeing with?

That no one can change sex?

That KS has previously struggled to define what a woman is? (Thankfully he finally says the words yesterday "biological women", so that is at least progress).

How's he planning on actually protecting said spaces?

Which bit do you not agree with? Which bit did Jane not speak for you?

Churchview · 29/06/2024 10:18

TheKeatingFive · 29/06/2024 10:14

I am not supporting her saying that all women are.

So you agree with his twaddle over protecting women’s sex based rights? Even if it has longterm implications on your sex based rights, and those of your female family members?

Churchview · 29/06/2024 10:11

But if you believe that vulnerable women should have the right to single sex spaces, aren't you annoyed that Starmer refuses to commit to this and tries to wiggle out of the question every time?

if not, why not? Don't these women deserve better?
