Unfortunately I can't link to her clip, but she's a star and a hero. She pinned him down and cut through the "twaddle". I am a swing voter and would have been proud of a mntter holding any mp to account on an important issue like Jane did. Jane is/was even trending on twitter.

@Clabony Jane said she was speaking for all women.

WickedSerious · 29/06/2024 10:21

Oblomov24 · 29/06/2024 10:18

Like Keating, I can't wait to see exactly which bits of Jane's views @Churchview disagrees with .......

I'm going to paint a very long bridge while we wait.

Oblomov24 · 29/06/2024 10:23

No, church view, I think your'll find that any woman with 1/2 a brain cell, does think that this is all twaddle.

Look on the boards. None of us can even believe that this 'debate' still goes on.

I'm so sad about KS. Highly intelligent man, so much potential, so wasted. Loads of my friends meet him regularly. When he was just about to become party leader many thought : finally, here we go. It's never materialised. No one can work out why.

EasternStandard · 29/06/2024 10:19

So a protect your Labour politician thing

A man can’t be interrupted when rehashing deflecting lines over and over

No, not protecting anyone other than myself.

Jane said that I, as a woman was sick of the twaddle that comes out of Keir Starmer's mouth.
I am not.

Yes of course a man can be interrupted. I never said he couldn't.

Why aren't you though? If you agree these women need protected?

dougalfromthemagicroundabout · 29/06/2024 10:24

JaneVapeman · 29/06/2024 10:13

@Summerhillsquare.. She doesn't need to provide a valid argument for sex based rights 😱
Secondly she did give him space to reply but she clearly wanted to hear real answers not repetition about his championing agaisnt rape and violence. Which, is not at all relevant and a total deflection, gas lighting patronising thing to keep, doing.

Yes, she refused to let him gaslight her.

I don't really see why it's so accepted that women have to put up with this abuse. Good on Jane for saying no to it.

If a man had done the same there'd be far less comment about it.

You seem unable to believe that women are capable of independent thought that does not agree with yours.

TheKeatingFive · 29/06/2024 10:26

Churchview · 29/06/2024 10:23

I have answered the question repeatedly.

No you haven't

Or you haven't squared the circle of 1) agreeing these women need to be protected 2) not seeming to care that Starmer has avoided the question of how repeatedly

Ir perhaps we're just to conclude that you don't care about these women after all - you're just saying that 🤷‍♀️

dougalfromthemagicroundabout · 29/06/2024 10:26

Jane didn't say she spoke for 51% of the population she said that 51% of the population are affected by the lies / twaddle that come out of Starner's mouth - that's what I understood from what she said.

FOJN · 29/06/2024 10:26

Not as rude as allowing rapists into women's prisons or men like Dolatowski into women's toilets to attack children

It is the Conservatives who have been allowing that over the past years. Not Keir Starmer.

The origins of men in women's prison's balls up starts in Scotland in 2007 with a policy document written by a trans lobby group. Unfortunately I really don't have time for delivering a full history lesson today.

The trans lobby deliberately started their campaign, to destroy single sex spaces, with prisons. They reasoned that if they could persuade people to accept men in women's prison's then every other womens single sex environment would be easy to colonise.

I'm not saying anything here that is not documented on record.

Asiatoyork · 29/06/2024 10:26

What he says is contradictory, listen to the part where he talks about men with a GRC having access

Did you hear Kemi when she got into the detail of this - can’t remember what interview but she totally stumbled and was not clear at all on the details of GRC changing sex or gender and the implications of that.

I’m GC and didn’t actually appreciate the way she phrased the questioning. It’s ok for me that he said ‘biological women’ and protected spaces, and also pointed out that trans women/men also deserve to be treated with dignity. Nothing wrong with the latter. I’m GC but that doesn’t mean I want trans people to be miserable.

Runningupthecurtains · 29/06/2024 10:27

Perfect28 · 29/06/2024 08:25

I don't get the dignity/privacy thing if we are divorcing that from violence. How is it undignified? Any more so than undressing in front of another 'biological woman'.

I don't think my elderly father in law or aged uncle are violent and about to attack me but I don't want to be naked in front of them. I don't want them to be naked in front of me. I don't want to see a penis when I'm changing for a swim. If we don't think dignity/privacy are a thing why do we have changing rooms in the first place? Why don't we all just strip off on public.

dougalfromthemagicroundabout · 29/06/2024 10:28

Also, Jane is just a presumably not media trained member of the public. Even if she says something not 100% true it doesn't affect anyone. Starmer will be the next PM. His lies and gaslighting affect millions. So why the ever living fuck are we parsing what Jane said and not Starmer.

Misogyny plain and simple.

Churchview · 29/06/2024 10:29

Clabony · 29/06/2024 10:20

Just your opinion.
You don't speak for all women either. You aren't the Headgirl and Jane never purported to be one.

I'm not speaking for all women.
I am speaking for myself.

You all seem so certain I will leave you to it.
Thank you for engaging with me.

Chersfrozenface · 29/06/2024 10:29

Perhaps any woman who manages to get on air to question a politician about women's rights * should identify as Dave from London. It would be interesting to see whether the broadcast dialogue ** and subsequent analysis would be different.

*I won't hold my breath on any Labour politician allowing that to happen ever again

**using the word in its loosest sense

This. In terms of safety changing in public would probably be safer for women than mixed sex by stealth spaces as there would be other people around who could intervene with the abusers. But no-one wants it. Including men.

Motnight · 29/06/2024 10:30

Thank you, Jane.

Clabony · 29/06/2024 10:30

How very odd to get in such a froth about a woman going on the radio asking searching questions of a man.

Actually that's a new spin I've not seen before. Well put. Why do we have changing rooms? If everyone should be okay with getting naked in front of anyone, why bother. Well, other than it being drafty.

She said, "You need to think about 51% of the population who are sick of the absolute twaddle that comes out of your mouth when we ask these questions."

She was speaking as though all women think the same on the issue.
We don't all think the same.
Even if we do, we wouldn't say what she said.

This. I’m delighted that the conservative government will be gone next week and shall happily be voting Labour.
