Something about Taylor swift and her swifties really grind my gears, I don't see the hype.

A huge number of people on MN annoy me and yet here I am.

I mean I could start a thread about how all people who use folk as a stand in grind my gears but, hey whatever brings you joy.

How is it illustration your point. People get frustrated with you because you are close minded and don't engage with the points and just spout unevidenced opinion but think it's fact.

My main gripe is that I semi look similar. I don’t see it at all, but I have people tell me I look like her probably once a fortnight/once a month.

At first, I laughed it off. Now it really embarrasses my children as a few children make so much of it, even joking about autographs.
I’ve had people comment at work, friends, school run people, people on the street, in pubs etc. And I don’t see it and have to smile politely.
I asked my husband what he thought of her physically and he wasn’t really bothered either way, which makes it funny, as people say to him that I apparently look like her too (I really don’t)

It’s really irritating after a while, especially as I think her music is overly breathy, without much range, and too much talking.. there’s only so much breathing I can stand.

I always get asked “what is your favourite song” and I seriously couldn’t tell you the name of more than one.

It's actually funny you can't understand people can like some of her actions and music and feel so passionately about spreading the news that she isn't perfect.

That's because you don't engage with facts and keep spouting opinion as fact.

I can understand people liking her, I've said that.
I can't understand people not being allowed to not like her, I've probably said that too.

Taken in generally means to be deceived by. In what way has Taylor Swift’s PR moves taken her fanbase in?

Again, this is subjective.

They present her in a way which will appeal and gloss over not so appealing characteristics.
That's what PR does.
Her persona isn't her.

This applies to the vast majority of pop stars, not just TS.

Of course you are allowed to not like her music or actions, but arguing that she decieves people or disempowers women people are going to ask you for evidence.

It just comes across that your dislike is for things she does that every popstar does, or do worse. So people are going to ask what it is that you find so objectionable and use evidence. Facts and evidence are how people usually come to these conclusions you see.

I find the current obsession a bit bemusing, but she's popular. I don't have a problem with that. People like what they like.
